Do those dropkicks actually realise that the welfare state is the embodiment of the Christian Commandment to "Love your neighbour".
Sadly, the half-baked health insurance reform that has gone through both chambers of the U.S. Congress falls well short of the Good Samaritan Standard.
Agreed. I fear that, if the bill passes without a Public Option, the Insurance Companies will find a loophole and screw everybody twice as hard.
For example, people with pre-existing conditions may be allowed to buy insurance, but will there be a cap on premiums? If it costs $3000 a month, what's the point?
Actor Matthew Modine is now now plugging his Broadway debut in "The Miracle Worker" and he said how Helen Keller was a socialist and would have been a fighter for national health care. The three clowns on the curvy couch were nonplussed.
A gaffe from an old man born in the south in another generation, as compared to teabaggers displaying blatantly racist signs at rallies. You grasp at so many strawmen I'm surprised you're not full of it. Oh yeah, you are.
I think that the retired dude from San Francisco doesn't understand that Rather was using a common Texas colloquialism which has nothing to do with race. In Texas, during watermelon season, you will find folks sitting on the side of the road at busy crossroads with watermelons loaded in the back of their pickups. Most folks who do this sell out within a few hours. Hence, a person who is seen to be limited as a salesperson, "couldn't sell watermelons if you gave him State Troopers to flag down traffic." Selling watermelons on the side of the road is not a racially-defined activity.
My one response to you . . . you're wrong, you aren't a conservative and I'm not a liberal. Not that it matters. Neither are inherently right or wrong, good or bad. Using either term as a pejorative shows a complete misunderstanding of the terms.
I'm a Texan who knows that what Rather, a fellow Texan, said had no racial significance in the least. You are the racist, dearie. You assigned racism where none was intended. See, we ALL eat watermelon in Texas . . . rarely with a fork. Eating a wedge of watermelon with the juice dripping down your chin while you see how far you can spit the seeds is a Texas tradition. You ought to try it.
Say it ain't so, bintx! You are gonna ignore a fellow conservative? (Remember, you keep saying you are "conservative". Heh Heh Heh.)
Imagine replacing Dan Rather's name with Bush or Rove's, who are also from Texas, and MMFA would have written a few thousand words about how terrible the watermelon comment is. You know this to be true.
Not sure what you are talking about, retired. Who did I "ignore" and for what? Oh, and like I said, I am a conservative . . . you aren't. Did you do the google search on RWA? You should, it would explain to you why I keep telling you that you aren't a conservative and that Fox/hate talk radio do not represent conservative thought.
Actually, Bush is NOT "from Texas." Bush lived here off and on for years, but he's not really a Texan. That accent is fake. He didn't have it before he started running for president. Rove . . . also not a Texan. But, that's beside the point.
The statement wasn't racist . . . your ASSUMPTION that it was indicates that you have a stereotypical belief that commenting on watermelon and black people automatically indicates racism on your part. That says more about YOU than it does Rather.
What a sh!tty attitude. You just sound like another sardonic old man to me, looking down at everyone else from an imaginary perch. Life's too short, you know? But I guess you don't know or you would have realized how meaningless your existence is to be spamming your "gotcha, Dan Rather" comments on multiple threads. Don't be too down though, from the "retired" part, I gather that your angry bitter life will soon be coming to a close.
This is what I love about racists constantly trying to tell everybody else that they're the racists. The chumps fill in the blanks according to their own psychoses, and demand that other people be held accountable for their racist word-association games.
Frankly, the most interesting part of what he said was that "he had to compromise it to death," correctly noting that Obama is the one who has displayed all the bipartisanship. We knew that, of course.
Of course you won't find this anywhere but on fair and balanced news outlets such as FOX.
Please, reviledinsf, you look silly enough without making statements like this. Besides, since the interview took place on MSNBC, that's where you'd find it.
And the Left continues with their absurd assertions the [sic] Right are the Party of racists.
Wrong. We do tend to point out, with perfect accuracy, that people who are racist are predominantly in your party, but no one is claiming that the party is entirely made up of racists or that racism is one of their official planks.
Now, for the more important question, reviled--what does any of your little diatribe have to do with the topic at hand? Here, I'll copy it so it will be easier for you:
Fox & Friends asks: Could "Health Reform Create a Welfare State?"
If you can make a substantive statement on this issue, please go ahead.
I can never get my Prescription for Truth filled at the Fox Farmacy. They never have any of it on-hand and I always have to go elsewhere.

Must try harder.
For example, people with pre-existing conditions may be allowed to buy insurance, but will there be a cap on premiums? If it costs $3000 a month, what's the point?
We know what you were shooting for, but you missed.

Okay, back on ignore, have a good one.

would probably qualify as racist.
and maybe this.

bintx about 4 1/2 hours ago on this very link: "Not sure what you are talking about, retired. Who did I "ignore" and for what?"
See why I can't take you loonies serious?
MMFA already covered the watermelon issue, when the nutjob politician spread emails showing the Rose Garden as one large watermelon patch.
That's racism. Rather's isn't. Please, please make a note of it.
