Geller on Americorps: "Obama's Private Youth Army: Recruiting 8-Year-Olds"

March 12, 2010 6:16 am ET by Media Matters staff

From Pamela Geller's March 12 Atlas Shrugs blog post:

First of all, it needs to be said: Obama, get your hands off our kids. Seriously. Stop the fascist recruitment. It's sick.

Obama said he was going to build a civilian army -- and he is using our children. How? He uses the classrooms, as I exclusively broke the story here: Organizing for America recruitment in the classroom.

But AmeriCorps (can Obama pronounce the second syllable?) is the machinery for his youth army. And there is huge dough behind it -- yours and mine.

...The second syllable of "Americorps" is "mer," not "corps."

I was just going to say the same thing. Beat me to it.

What is wrong with these people? The President asks Americans (not just kids) to get involved. To do something for their country, and they act as if it's straight to the Hitler Youth with them all.

It's just more of the strategy the RNC donor presentation thinks is the best campaign strategy for the time.

        Now that's funny...I don't care who you are! :)

But AmeriCorps (can Obama pronounce the second syllable?)

I don't know about the second syllable but he can't pronounce Corps. Maybe he's thinking of all the democrat corpses come November...

We had to endure the ridicule of Bush's pronunciation of nuclear ad nauseum. Take your medicine for Barry's Corp-corpse bungle.

I forgot that in the wingnut world you live in, two wrongs make a right. It's all about hate. It's all about spittle-flecked vengeance, as you clearly demonstrate with the contempt-ridden "Barry".... My error.

The biggest difference is that this President won't make that mistake again. He's capable of learning.

The "ad nauseum" of your comment highlights the fact that Bush NEVER learned the correct pronunciation.

If 8 years from now, Obama is still pronouncing the word as "corpse" then I will concede your point.

Let me know when that "ban" is real. In the meantime, more fishing for me. Enjoy paying all that extra money for your ammo too. You wingnuts sure are chumps when it comes to fear.

Looks like your fear of the assault on the 2nd Amendment never happened, now did it? In fact, you can now carry in National Parks.

From the clearing, just outside of camera range:

<i>"Bugs, that's desPICable, threatening a poor innocent bear like that."</i>

<i>"Don't worry, Daffy, it's the guy whoze in trouble. Yogi was over at Yosemite Sam's last night, tradin' Mr. Ranger's hat for one a Sam's six-shooters. You forget..."<i>

            (sound of carrot being chomped)

It is a foregone conclusion that this Gellar woman never volunteered for anything in her greedy life. She is part of the "me first and me only" generation of wingnuts.

You know the type.. flag waving frantically, beating the drums of war loudly until the recruiter walks up to them with a clipboard, then the drums stop and the flag drops as they scamper under a rock to change their soiled pants.

Surely these folks know that Obama is not actually the one that created Americorps right?

AmeriCorps is a U.S. federal government program that was created under President Bill Clinton by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993 [1] Later expanded by 50 percent under President George W. Bush.[2] The work done by these groups ranges from public education to environmental clean-up.[3]

And the thing is, it's a good group. I've known a few folks who have worked for them, and they have nothing but good things to say about it in general, and it gave them a chance to give back to their country.

I mean, really, what's so bad about doing something for your country?

Pamela Geller... Pamela Geller. Now I know I have heard that name before. Where had I heard that name...?

OH! Wasn't she the same person who told Ron Reagan that he wasn't in a position to comment about what his father thought of Sarah Palin?

Which is kind of funny, because the US military is pretty much a socialist organization. Same clothing. Adherence to certain standards. Giving up some of your rights and freedoms by joining (as in, adhering to the UCMJ, and taking orders from your superior officers and NCOs). Everyone gets health care. Everyone gets food. Everyone gets clothing.

Excuse me. The description you give is for any heirarchical structure -- which, except for the dress codes, many Leninist groups did have, but so do the Boy Scouts, Japanese corporations, criminal gangs, the Catholic Church and fascist groups all have (and they do tend to have dress codes. Most socialist groups tend to be much looser, in fact tending more towards chaos than order.
