CBS Already Salivating for Tiger Woods Ratings

March 16, 2010 3:23 pm ET by Joe Strupp

It didn't take long following word today that Tiger Woods would return to golf for The Masters for the ratings predictions to start.

CBS, which broadcasts the annual event and marque golf outing, expects record numbers, according to SI.com.

"CBS Sports' president thinks that Tiger Woods' return to golf will be one of the 'biggest media spectacles in recent memory.' SI.com reported Tuesday. "Sean McManus told The Associated Press last week before Woods announced when he would play again that he believed only President Barack Obama's inauguration would rank higher as a media event."

Shows American priorities.

Honestly, I could care less about Tiger. Both the fact that he had affairs and the fact that he's returning to golf. But in a world where Jersey Shore exists, I guess this would be the "biggest media spectacle in recent memory.
