How great would it have been if Lewis Black was the comic at the White House Correspondents dinner instead of Jay Leno?

I haven't always found Mr. Black very funny, but it this case, he really is. Yes, what is so terrible about protecting the environment and protecting weaker citizens? What is so horrible about trying to make sure that everyone has a chance at insurance? And how exactly is the flippin' Peacecorps Fascist?

Agreed, I find Black hit and miss with his comedy sometimes, but he had me at "Nazi Tourettes" on this one.

This is why wingnuts try to dismiss Stewart and Colbert, and try to accuse others of "getting their news from comedy shows". These comics are able to sidestep conservative political correctness and get right to the absurdity of hysterical morans like Beck.

The mainstream media is hindered by their politeness to these right wing propagandists, and in trying to be professional give them more respect than they deserve. Ridicule is what Beck, Hannity and the other clowns have earned, and comedians are the only ones who seem able to serve it straight up.

That it's all about a sinister quest by progressives for power, control and money. And, if challenged, just keep repeating the prvious sentence...

He'll respond the same way he did to "Stew-Beef" himself- dismiss it as a harmless joke that his viewers don't need to waste time looking at.

What's funny about this is that about an hour before TDS came on last night, I was talking to my brother about Beck and how he uses the "one degree of connection" to try and link people together. AND I USED THE VERY SAME MUSTACHE EXAMPLE Black did. I got a good rofl out of that.

In Beck's world, ANY connection between two things makes them the same.

Tables have legs, Karl Marx had legs, TABLES ARE MARXIST.
Obama has a stomach, Mao had a stomach, OBAMA IS MAOSIST!
I wear clothes, Hitler wears clothes, I'M A NAZI!!!

"It's all about connections." That's the sort of idiotic drivel that people cling to when they didn't take their educations seriously.

Last weekend, my aunt, who is a teacher's aid, was talking to me about her state testing where students had to recognize likenesses/relationships between thing.

Puppy is to dog, as kitten is to ________.

Glenn Beck was never taught to make legitimate connections or to analyze relationships between things. As a result, he only recognizes the most basic characteristics things have in common that, more often than not, do not represent the relationship he's trying to create between them.

Lewis Black helps fill the void left by the death of George Carlin, at least for me.

I hope Nostradumbass does respond; it would be fun watching Black skin him alive.

I've always found Black to be pretty unfunny with the twitchy schtick he employs.

But this bit is pretty good.

One of Black's finest moments, without a doubt. And it's certainly telling that the objects of mockery from FOXland always feel obliged to respond. That proves two things for me: 1 - that they can't take a joke, and 2 - they are afraid of the comics.

Will one our ratings trolls compare Stewart's viewership to Beck and Co.?

Not a great comparison for the argument. Daily Show barely tops 1 mil on average, Colbert gets about 1.3. Beck's still hovering around 2 mil.

Aside from the Daily Show, the top 4 stations in the "lamestream" media overtook FOX News on May 11th, Primetime according to http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/ratings/cable-news

        FNC – 2,136,000 viewers
        CNN – 720,000 viewers
        MSNBC –800,000 viewers
        CNBC – 138,000 viewers
        HLN –501,000 viewers

Meaning FOX < "MSM" by about 52,000 viewers. Some FOX guy will say "Well, we're still leading all the channels!" Or some such nonsense, but even then, if FOX is the only voice of reason on the planet, that means the radicals now outnumber the real Americans! Armageddon! And FOX has been steadily losing viewers during the day for awhile now, 1.17 mil versus 1.33 mill for CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and HLN. Must be all those welfare queens turning on the TV while they suck the country dry just to throw a wrench in the Republican works.

Thanks. Not that i'd call you a ratings troll. :)

Still, it's impressive to me that FOXies are so sensitive to comments from Stewart in particular.

I spent some time trying to find the Daily Show's ratings as well but came up dry. I did find it interesting that Fox's biggest shows (O'Reilly, Hannity and Beck) have each lost around 33% of their total viewership just since the start of the year as they all started the year above 3 mil and sometimes close to 4 mil and now are all below 2 mil. That probably corresponds with reports that Republican enthusiasm is waning, either that or the repetitive shtick of Fox's main hosts has become boring.
Spongebob still pulls in more viewers than Hannity and Beck combined and Mr. Krabs is the best representation of the Republican mindset that I've ever seen.

The Daily Show has been topping Colbert in recent ratings. Stewart's been beating Colbert.

Good catch. TV By The Numbers makes it remarkably difficult to find Daily Show ratings. They don't even include them in their late night ratings.
