Yeah, it's in the clip. But I'm guessing if a white Republican had used the phrase regarding holding somebody accountable, it would have been cheered as strong leadership and taking charge, rather than going street.

Where President Obama is concerned, the right will never be satisfied. They've heard the word "azz" before, but for them, it's a very, very, very bad thing when this president says it. Pay no attention to Darth Cheney's telling a sitting U.S. senator to go F himself because that makes Cheney a real man of the people in their minds.

You can't really blame Cheney; I'm sure he picked up such language from the rap-hop.

After his VP debate with Geraldine Ferraro, George HW Bush was asked how he thought it went. His reply? "I think we kicked a little ass tonight."

Well, it's impossible for GHW Bush to go "street," I guess he went "boulevard." The press thought he was trying to be "manly" after being called a "wimp." He was still a wimp.

Frankly, if it is true I hope that Obama finds several to kick and fires even more.

But, but, but, Karl Rove said that President Obama hasn't been a straight shooter on this topic - how can he do an interview like this and not be a straight shooter?

Well, look at the headline; when Obama does it, he's not a straight shooter, he's a Frightening Negro.

The right is an odd position: they will NEVER admit BP screwed up major and regulation is needed. However they can't really defend them either since the proof of their negligence/malfeasance is washing up all over the place.

In their desperation they attack Obama to draw attention away from the unquestionably bad corporate actors.

Their only other option is to step into Hannity's bizarro world where this accident happened BECAUSE of federal regulation.

Here's the part Drudge didn't report (and the media will no doubt ignore it too): "I was down there a month ago, before most of these talkin' heads were even paying attention to the gulf. A month ago..."

Last week, he was an emotionless Vulcan. This week, he'll be characterized as an angry black man. It doesn't matter. The fix is in. Nothing he does can ever be right.

Obama sort of fell into the trap on this one.

the righties said "Obama needs to get angry" then when he does they play the "angry black man" card.

Pretty predictable. Racism is the new right wing politics. Everything they say and do is based on it.

Sorry, but "kicking a**" has nothing to do with being an "angry black man." Every white, redneck cowboy I know has said "I'm gonna kick your a**" more than a few times in his life.

I hate to say it, but if an angry white republican, say Chris Christie, said this he would have been lauded by the right as a populist hero. Obama does it and he's street.

      Stay classy Drudge.

Just for fun, someone should kick Drudge's flabby, pale ass, problem is he's hard to find. He lives underground in a damp, dark cave with the other slimy worms.

Ridiculous. Catch the whole clip here:

      http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201006080006

Lauer essentially asked the president why he's meeting with experts and talking about the problem when he should be down talking to fishermen and oilmen and "kicking butt." Obama answered that he was talking to experts because they "potentially" have the right answers so that he knows whose $$ to kick. Sounds like the right answer to me--but what do I know? I'm a clueless liberal who figures that when you kick a$$, you make sure you're kicking the right a$$ instead of the one least able to kick back.

hanks, Chameo. I just saw a clip of the interview this morning, including Lauer's question ( which, of course, Drudge edited out for brevity **wink wink**), so the butt-kicking theme was not started by Obama. But he used the naughtier word, and that's so "street".
