WATCH: Glenn Beck warned against Glenn Beck's red-baiting

June 28, 2010 10:33 am ET by Ben Dimiero

Last Thursday, Glenn Beck devoted an entire show to red-baiting and trying to rehabilitate what he deemed the unfairly tarnished historical legacy of Joseph McCarthy. During the show, Beck and his guest, author M. Stanton Evans, agreed that McCarthy was "telling the truth." Beck went on to explain that progressives "mutate" communism's "evil" so that it "goes undercover." He claimed that "Marxism is alive and well" and "thriving here in the United States."

Beck also claimed that "three years ago," he would have "made fun of people like" himself for devoting a show to the threat of communism. However, far more recently than three years ago, Beck was mocking the idea of conservatives who always play the "communist" card.

During the promo for his then-upcoming Fox News show that ran on the network last January, Beck decried conservatives who say things like "Oh, those donkeys trying to turn us into communist Russia." He then yelled, "Stop!"

As we detailed at the time, this plea was disingenuous, as Beck had already labeled Obama a "Marxist" and criticized "Comrade Clinton." Indeed, Beck wasted no time in exposing himself as a hypocrite, spending the first several weeks of his show smearing President Obama, Democrats, and their policies as communist, Marxist, socialist, and fascist.

But based on how much farther he's tumbled down the red-baiting rabbit hole since then, it's possible that even the hypocritical Glenn Beck of January 2009 would want June 2010 Glenn Beck to "Stop!"

"Glenn Proves Once More That His Hypocrisy Knows No Bounds"
I wrote your quote without Spell-Checking, if you've read any of mine i have no Grounds.
Glenn Beck, The Rodeo Clown? or how about Cro-Magnon? I think i prefer the Missing Link?
I base this partly on his Facial Expressions & that he actually believes his Behind don't Stink.

        Speak truth to power.

Back before my daughter got her driver's license, I would drop her off at school events, go home, then come back and wait for her in the car. Occasionally, for grins, I would listen to Becky's radio show, which was played at night on our local Hate Radio station.

I distinctly remember one night when he did a show about the phony 1963 "Goals of Communism" and how they had all come true.

This was about three years ago. He was as full of sh!t then as he is now.

"Glenn Beck and his followers suffer from short attention spans."

        Doesn't apply.

For them to have a short attention span, you'd first have to prove that they have a brain...and I don't think we want to go there.

This proves conclusively - as if more proof was needed - that Beck will say anything, absolutely anything, to get attention.

In fairness, conservatives spend some of their time eating and sleeping.

As their motto is "Fresh Brain!", we can now understand why this group is walking away, en masse, from Glenda's portending abode...cause there ain't any of the stuff they crave within -- either fresh or anything which qualifies as the latter, when Becky's in residence. So they're off to crash a Tea Party event, hoping the aggregation they'll find there will somehow slack their hunger pangs. At best temporarily; a meager appetizer for all pictured.

one needs ask these people,,why was affirmative action needed in this country,,,because prior to it being implemented there was already a system in place that excluded the so called minorities in this country from equal access to jobs, loans, housingtherefore in order to make the country have the appearance of fairness the government had to intervene and pass a bill that would supposedly level the playing field,,yet when it has been applied over the years the dominant culture began accusing these same minorities of playing the race card,,when in fact whites have had the entire deck to use against these same minorities,,all things being equal in a perfect world,,of course affirmative action wouoldnt be needed,,,howvever can we count on those in positions of power to be fair to all of its citizens?,,i think History has proven we cannot.

Great research and perspective MMFA. Now do the same with Fox Nation (A forum for civil discourse it is most certainly not). Remember all the Fox talking heads that promoted it? It's among the most hateful sites on the Web and the left is not allowed to post.

      Examples:

      MONTANABORN (on Pelosi)
[i]Amnesia? Hardly...She is pure evil....How do you get rid of something like that? I'm afraid that putting a bullet through her head would make no difference. History tells us we burn witches.[i]

It's assumed that you must have a brain to actually have amnesia and the stupid b*tch Pelosi has shown that there's nothing between her ears but air. What a worthless individual.

Well, it's clear that these posters are far from civil. Anyone notice how O'Reilly has stopped attacking netroots bloggers and posters since the site launched? I certainly did.

Didn't the Crazy Man just a few weeks ago, unfavorably compare something the administration was/is doing to "McCarthyism"? Or did I just dream that?

Your memory is correct, rik. I also recall doughboy once angrily denying that he resorted to McCarthyism, a defense based solely on the fact that Dreck held no governmental powers. He was outraged that anyone would dare to accuse him of using the vile and dishonest tactics of a man whom he now trumpets as an American hero.

        What a lying freakin' putz!

Glenn Beck is a hypocrite, but even more so he is just ignorant. He doesn't have a clue what the heck he is talking about. He is like the person that everyone knows who thinks they know EVERYTHING. He's the person you know who will enter any converstation and contribute BS acting as though he knows it all. The man is such an absolute worthless piece of wasted space that it's amazing he has gotten to where he has today.
And as a side note. I ran up to the school where I teach today and our HISTORY TEACHER has a Palin/Beck 2012 sticker on her brand new vehicle!!!!!!! I like her but I can't believe that a history teacher can be that boneheaded! It scares me that someone that believes the BS Beck and Palin spew is teaching children about history. But what she doesn't know, is that any democrat/liberal/progressive in the country would LOVE it if Palin and Beck ran in 2012. We could run a monkey and a pig against them and still win by a landslide!!!
