SHOCK: Did Ted Nugent compare himself to a Nazi?

July 02, 2010 11:57 am ET by Ben Dimiero

Earlier this week, following the lead of Matt Drudge, conservative media figures absurdly claimed that Vice President Biden "compared Republicans to Nazis" when he used the term "blitzkrieg" in a fundraising email. As we pointed out, not only have numerous conservative elected officials and media outlets used the term "blitzkrieg" in a political context before, but they also routinely make far more explicit comparisons of Democrats to Nazis.

Well, using Matt Drudge's "standards," apparently Ted Nugent compared himself to a Nazi today in an op-ed he published in The Washington Times:

I'm on my 47th annual blitzkrieg rock 'n' roll tour across America. I have many guitars, oversized amplifiers and plenty of guns and ammo. The American Boy Scout lives. Prepared is good. Unprepared is for losers. Know it.

It would be absurd and dishonest to accuse Ted Nugent of comparing himself to a Nazi here - just as dishonest as it was when conservative media figures played dumb to accuse Biden of comparing Republicans to Nazis.

The right wing acts like a bunch of schoolchildren. They say and compare the other side to anything they feel will work at that particular moment, but then when something is said back to them they run away crying looking for the nearest teacher to tell on you.

I hear ya and agree. But you are wrong on one count: The right wing IS a bunch of school children, is it NOT an act. I like to refer to them as adolescents, myself. They worship Ted Nugent, which kind of says it all ...

The American Boy Scout wouldn't soil his pants to avoid serving his country.

You will NEVER live that down Ted "Effluvium" Nugent

When Nugent had a chance to fight for his coutry he crapped his pants. Why should anyone listen to this "tough guy" now?

Hmmm ... makes one wonder if this has anything to do with "playing to the crowd" to keep selling crappy music? Kind of like the Glenn Beck of rock 'n roll, no?

The Troglodytes have somehow inoculated themselves against irony, embarrassment or hypocrisy. It's the only explanation...unless they're all just nuts.

Thank god for people like Ted. I like this quote:

"I wait for no one to authorize my pure instinct to defend myself and loved ones. When in doubt, I whip it out."

Maybe he should have mentioned how he feels about defending his country and stepping up to preserve these freedoms that this pantload always talks about but takes for granted.

He's a spoiled little boy, who schat himself to avoid the draft and let others go risk their asses so he could sit on his and complain.

      Ted Nugent the gutless wonder.

The Nuge is on tour? Who's gonna buy tickets? Musically, he hasn't been the slightest bit relevant since the 70's. Nonetheless, he can still probably draw a bigger crowd than any tea party (which isn't saying much).

Was he ever relevant? I'm no R & R scholar, but I was around in the '70's, and I don't remember ever hearing of this tool until a couple of years ago.

He was big in the Midwest, I was a Ted-head back then, first concert at 16 in '76 was Ted in South Bend. He has no R&R spirit left, R&R defies authority, not deifies it. He's a tool of the biggest tools in the tool chest.

The Nazis wouldn't want a pants crapper like Ted Nugent.
