Rush literally calls "the charge of racism" so 15 minutes ago

July 20, 2010 3:39 pm ET by Jeremy Holden

Today, Rush Limbaugh trumpeted the "great work" Andrew Breitbart did in heavily editing video of former USDA employee Shirley Sherrod addressing the NAACP Freedom Forum dinner in Georgia earlier this year, comments Rush claimed highlighted Sherrod's "supposed racism and so forth, saying we're not going to help a white farmer." While Breitbart's story had already disintegrated by the time Limbaugh joined the race-baiting, Rush turned his attention to the NAACP, which he said is "as racist an organization as there has been and is in this country."

That was at 12:11 p.m. ET.

At 12:38 p.m. ET, Limbaugh turned to defending the tea party against charges of racism:

I will say that the charge of racism is losing its heft. It used to really silence people. Now it's like saying that water is wet. It's no big deal. It's overdone and overblown.

And so it was that Rush Limbaugh himself fired the last volley and declared "the charge of racism" like so 15 minutes ago.

So, calling the Tea Partiers racist is like "saying the water is wet?" Doesn't that mean that they are so obviously, blatantly racist that it's not even necessary to point it out? That the term Tea Party is basically synonymous with racism? It's not often that I agree with Rush, but this time he really nailed it.

Actually, Rush's brand of "conservatism" has nothing to do with conservatism. It's all about hate, racism, greed and control. Nothing about this man is "conservative." His lifestyle, his religious beliefs . . . nothing.

What frustrates me the most is that Breitbart and Limbaugh have already won this battle. The media feeding frenzy is about her being a racist. Where's the 'story' in Sherrod not being a racist? It will most likely be buried and the take-away will once again be the 'racist Obama administration.'

You make a good point RB,
Cons have learned the value of constantly being on the attack and lying with impugnity. Pretty easy to do when you control 90% of talk radio and have your own television station.

You can maximize your lying. They've learned the game well. It stinks but it's all they've got.

he's right. racism is no big deal, is overdone and overblown. Especially to mega-millionaire radio talk show hosts obsessed with inching as close as they can to saying a certain word without actually saying that word

I wonder why the NAACP waited to make any comment or take action until the video was released?

Yet another variation on the racist right's favorite theme: White people can't be racist. Only black people are racist.
