At Newsbusters, “facts” = “Democrat Talking Points”

Newsbusters’ Matt Hadro:

MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer Simply Echoes Democrat Talking Points on Tax Cuts, GOP Controversy

By Matt Hadro (Bio | Archive)

...

"What I don't get is a lot of the people who are shouting about letting these tax cuts expire...are the same people who are shouting about the deficit, and how troubling it is that the national debt is skyrocketing," Brewer pouted. "And you can't have it both ways.”

At no point does Hadro contest the fact that “a lot of the people who are shouting about letting these tax cuts expire...are the same people who are shouting about the deficit.” Probably because it’s, you know … a fact.

A week ago, Newsbuster Geoffrey Dickens offered this odd criticism:

NBC’s Matt Lauer, suddenly turned into a deficit hawk, when he invited on Newt Gingrich on Tuesday's Today show, to discuss the GOP's refusal to extend unemployment benefits without paying for them, as he complained to the House Speaker that those same Republicans didn't offer spending cuts to offset the Bush tax cut and pressed: "Is it funny math?" and "traditionally speaking when you cut taxes, don't deficits go up as well?”

So, according to Newsbusters, it’s simply inappropriate to point out that tax cuts add to the deficit, even when you’re interviewing a Republican who supports tax cuts and complains about deficits.

Occasionally, Democrat talking points are factual. That doesn't mean they aren't Democrat talking points.

What Contessa Brewer doesn't get is that a lot of the people who are "shouting about the deficit" now so they can let the Bush tax cuts expire just added a trillion dollars of stimulus and a never-ending entitlement gusher of ObamaCare. Who looks funnier talking about debt?

Well your phrase,"A never ending entitlement gusher," gets my vote for you looking funnier.

Perhaps you want to look up the term "talking point" before spouting-off. When something is a fact ... it is a fact.

When a political party peddles something fishy which is not proveable to be true, it is nothing more than a talking point.

That stimulus is based on proven 1930s economic thought. Maybe someday your opinions can advance that far.

(Stimulus is fine if you pay it off after the crisis. Democrats pay it off. Republicans don't. Stop electing republicans.)
