Surprised me! The Kurtz column sounds most of the way intelligent. At least it gives me understanding how it became that Kurtz is totally a joke, or fraud, as a 'media critic.' As he is the media schtick itself: Faces without facts; columns without content; all sizzle, no steak.

His credence and my reading eyes ended at the line about prospects of the NYTimes and WashPost as sensationalism sycophants in webworld: "What they gain in short-term hits would cost them in long-term reputation."

Strike would. Insert has (cost them). Past tense. They're over, long past, years ago. The 'reputations' of the NYTimes and WashPost were and still are tied to the WMDs in Iraq. There ain't none.
