Fox cheerleading so bad that GOP candidates are now correcting Fox's lies about their opponents

September 30, 2010 9:08 am ET by Christine Schwen

It is well established that Fox News has become the defacto communications arm of the Republican party by promoting their agenda and propping up their candidates with softball interviews. However, Fox & Friends may have taken it to a new level this morning with their promotion of Congressman Barney Frank's Republican opponent Sean Bielat.

Fox & Friends promotion of Bielat started early, when contributor Dick Morris came on the show to encourage Republicans to actively campaign to unseat Congressman Barney Frank.

Fox & Friends took Morris' advice in the next hour, hosting Bielat for one of their patented softball interviews. Co-host Steve Doocy started off the Bielat boosterism by falsely suggesting that Congressman Frank is to blame for the housing crisis, while co-host Brian Kilmeade asked such hard hitting questions as "Now Barney Frank delivers for his district. Sean, are you gonna, are you willing to tell your district, I'm delivering for your country, not just for you?"

Then, when Kilmeade falsely claimed Frank has "about $12 million in the bank" Bielat had to step in to correct him:

So Fox's "fair and balanced" coverage now depends on Republican candidates correcting Fox' false claims about their Democratic opponents? After Tea Party boosterism, GOP agenda pushing, GOP donations, and active campaigning for Republican candidates it's hard to imagine where they'll go from here. And it's a wonder anyone still believes that they could possibly be "fair and balanced."

I'm always a little suspicious of "ex Democrats" who say the party moved away from them. The biggest change I've seen in the Democratic Party is that they alienated the Dixiecrat bigots by embracing the Civil Rights cause.

On the other hand, can anyone deny that the Republican party has lurched sickeningly to the Right? Richard Nixon and Barry Goldwater would both be considered RINOs by the Teabaggers.

I have on more than one occasion, heard Nixon refered to as "liberal" by some of today's Republicans.

Exactly. Why would Democrats from a time of high taxes on the rich, high unionization, extensive benefits like Medicare and Pell grants, opposition to war suddenly decide that their party is too left?

Fox needs to be more careful with the crazy that Morris brings.

He burned the Dems years ago and he'll do the same with conservatives.

He's a publicity whore and will do or say what they side he's advocating for wants at that time, so long as there is $$ involved.

So lets see CNN Fair and balanced. I have personally watched well over a half hour of coverage on AC360 about the chump reciepts of the Republican challenge in Delaware. But Charlie Riengold? Member and head of the Ways and Means Commitee that WRITES tax law? Didnt realize he scammed HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of dollars in his real estate? No coverage. Dont even start with MSNBC wearing out of the Republican story.

Its histarical. ALL major news networks, CNN and MSNBC all in bed with liberals...but we have to complain about lonely old Fox. There is a reason they are number 1.

Apparently, Bielat is the fetish du jour. He has the strong endorsement of GOProud (classy) in spite of the fact that the undertone is to "get the queer out of Congress."
