Beck just makes things up about Wikipedia

November 30, 2010 1:51 pm ET by Terry Krepel

Glenn Beck just makes things up on a regular basis -- and especially when it comes to George Soros -- so it’s not a shock that Beck’s attempt to suggest that Soros’ involvement with Wikipedia equates to an involvement with WikiLeaks falls well short of the facts.

On his November 30 radio show, Beck said, as he’s prone to do, that “the storm is here,” adding that “Wikipedia is just a part of it.” One of Beck’s sidekicks quickly stepped in to correct it to WikiLeaks. Beck then asserted that Soros “helped develop software” for Wikipedia. Sidekick Stu Burguiere responded, “I’ve read this before, but I don’t think it’s actually accurate.” Beck went on to add: “Maybe you’re right. ... I’m not saying it’s nefarious. What I’m saying is that he is an open society guy. This is an open society -- this is perfect open society stuff. ... The software was, I think, helped developed by Soros, which is the software that WikiLeaks is using.”

Beck does a lot of false conflating here through a host of ambiguous statements about Soros, Wikipedia, and WikiLeaks. Let’s try to clear things up in a way that even Beck can understand.

First, while Soros’ Open Society Institute has a history of funding Wikipedia’s parent organization, the Wikimedia Foundation, and it has funded peripheral projects such as printing Wikipedia documents, it apparently was not involved in the original development of the Wikipedia software, at least according to Wikipedia’s own history.

Second, the software underlying Wikipedia, known as MediaWiki, is free. It’s available to anyone with the knowledge to install it on a web server and content to put on it -- including Beck and his crew. (Heck, Beck’s blackboard conspiracies might even benefit from presentation in a wiki format.) Wikipedia isn’t responsible for what others do with the software it gives away. That goes for WikiLeaks just as much as, say, the Star Wars wiki site.

Meanwhile, Beck’s insistence that he wasn’t portraying Soros’ involvement in Wikipedia as “nefarious,” while vaguely hinting Soros had something to do with WikiLeaks, is utterly disingenuous. If the point was not to demonstrate how Soros has his evil spooky-dude fingers in everything, why bring it up at all? Then again, Beck portrayed Soros’ involvement in overthrowing communist and authoritarian regimes as nefarious too.

This gets so tiring. Even when I was having surgery on a bi-weekly basis, my world was nowhere NEAR as dark and terrifying as the rightwingers' minds. Even my withdrawl from the narcotic medicine was happier than this. So clearly, Beck is an evil liar who only wants treasure and will do anything to get it. If he can be a racist jerk (see: every two minutes of his show), thats all the better for him.

I don't undrstand why people even listen gto him. If you don't like what he is saying ignore him. If you make abig deal out of it you are doing just what the right wing media wants and that is giving theidiot credence.

HA! That's one way to keep his audience from going to their most likely destination in their effort to "do their own research". Guess they're just gonna have to trust him on this one.

The storm is here. Glenn Beck is just a part of it. Here's how:

Glenn Beck helped develop propaganda for Fox News. I'm not saying it's nefarious. What I am saying is that he is a bend over and grab your ankles kind of guy. The propaganda was, I think, developed by Roger Ailes, which is the cocaine that Beck uses in bathroom stalls.

      Beck's internal dialogue:

My coffee is no longer hot because I poured it nearly an hour ago. I blame George Soros.

George Soros made me stub my toe.

George Soros and Woodrow Wilson created Nazism to spread Stalin's ideas.

George Soros, who is Jewish, is a nazi and he secretly funded the time machine Obama used to pretend that he was born in Hawaii.

George Soros is actually Woodrow Wilson.

      Woodrow Wilson was Hitler.

Therefore World Wars I and II, the Korean War, Viet Nam, Iran-Contra, Watergate, and Jar Jar Binks are all George Soros' fault.

I'm so tired of this SH!T. George Soros isn't a software developer. And Open Society is an organization that advocates for transparency in governments throughout the world. It is not a society for One world governance or a new world order. Hell, as much as Glenn talks about corruption, you would think he would support the mission of Open Society. But it wouldn't fit his Cleon Skousen like conspiracy theory about people trying to manipulate the system to form one world governance, now would it?

Okay, can we come to the conclusion that Beck makes things up about:

      Tax policy
      Foreign policy
      Constitutional law
      Food safety
      American History
      World History
      Climate Science
      Physical Science
      Economics

      and pretty much everything else?

Once we start thinking under that premise, we can stop with the "Beck makes things up about (fill in the blank)" and just go with what he said and when.

Beck understands that all he has to do is plant a seed in the gullible maleable minds of his devotees. The truth has nothing to do with Beck's racket. He's a seed planter. That's how propaganda works. Beck is a propagandist, and to give the devil his due, he's pretty good at it in the sense that he knows all the rhetorical devices and tricks.

Beck says crap he hears in his damaged demented brain. It's like the many monkeys pounding on many typewriters for infinite time -- once in a while one of them spells an English word, but mostly all the keystroking, and Beck's microphone spitting, is only chaos-brain crap.

In the Portland OR market Beck, 9:00 - noon, begets a fawning understudy, noon - 3:00, Lars Larson who says crap he hears in his juvenile trauma-stunted brain. Liars makes it up, FOX radio affiliated.

The Beck=Liars combination shouting in impressionable unformed minds caused one listener to get so crazy he bombed a bank and killed two policemen -- as a 'statement' demonstrating how 'anti-government' he is. Turnidges (father & son) are on trial now in Salem OR and if convicted may be sentenced to death. Beck=Liars belong at that 'defense' table and sentenced, as well.

The proof that the man got his violence-set thoughts and 'beliefs' from Beck=Liars, and only from Beck=Liars, was testimony under oath of the FBI agent who recited what the man told him the thoughts were. The wording of the thoughts is exactly verbatim mimickry of Beck=Liars wording during Oct-Nov'08 airing hot rightwing hate and high anxiety about Obama's election, (leading up to bomb/murder Dec.12,'08), to wit: 'if airline passengers had not been prohibited to carry guns, 9/11 never would have happened; that prohibition makes the government at fault for 9/11.' Only Beck=Liars said that same crap, on Turnidge's radio, into his hypnosis-stupored (lit., 'beneath knowing') brain.

Broadcasting made-up hate-filled crap talk incites violence in audience behaviors.

      Soros is Beck's new ACORN!

Just as how ACORN was responsible for all things that Beck didn't like, now, Soros is that same boogeyman for Beck.

When is Soros going to sue the pants off of Beck, and put him into the poorhouse that he seems to think is an a-OK place in America.

I watch Fox news, CNN, BBC and many other news outlets. It seems a shame that there are so many liberals who follow Obama like blind sheep.
The signs are all around us, the storm is upon us and the masses continue to to turn a blind eye to what is going on.
Thank goodness for people like Glen Beck, Nigel Farage(EU) and Alex Jones(Fall of the Republic). Google them. Open your eyes and lets hope that it is not too late for the United States of America, the land that I love.
