Nugent Blames Liberals, "Political Street-Corner Dope-Pusher" Obama For "Gangland Rioting"

August 14, 2011 12:37 pm ET by Media Matters staff

In an August 12 Washington Times column, Ted Nugent accused "boneheaded liberals" and "political-street-corner dope-pusher" Obama for creating "a shattered social system [of] lawlessness and irresponsibility" which led to "gangland rioting." From the Washington Times:

Did you really expect anything different? From London to Philadelphia to Milwaukee, goons are rioting in the streets. And guess what? I don't believe it is the fundamental fault of the goon squads that they're rioting, although there's no excuse for beating people and destroying property.

Societies, especially America's, have created a shattered social system in which lawlessness and irresponsibility are excused by boneheaded liberals because they don't think government has provided enough for these supposedly disadvantaged and downtrodden people.

[...]

If the goons had an ounce of brains among them, they would come to the conclusion that the reason they are dumb, unskilled mouth-breathers unprepared for the future is because of bloated, runaway government, not because there has been too little of it or that the rich do not pay enough in taxes.

These idiots are useful political pawns for the very political punks who have manipulated these morons into believing that Uncle Sham is their sugar daddy instead of what Uncle Sham really is - a political-street-corner dope-pusher, a community organizer who has gotten them strung out on the most powerful drug of all: dependency.

[...]

Now we are a nation of wussies and stupid goons who have suckled on the teat of Aunt Sugar Momma for so long that many Americans know nothing different. When the teat runs dry, gangland rioting follows. Kicking the habit of dependency is an obviously painful process.

Someone like Ted Nougat badmouthing dope pushers?

I sense he's being slightly more than disingenuous there.

or maybe it's only because the dope pushing was "street-corner" and not the high-end expensive quality stuff you need references to obtain that he partakes in.

And which are the drugs that Nugent "partakes in"? Do you have actual evidence of this or are you just anonymously smearing his name? Takes a lot of guts to call someone a drug user without proof.

I don't need evidence. Like the "journalists" at FOXPAC, I'm merely stating my opinion based on my observations. However, unlike the "journalists" at FOXPAC I am not paid a six figure salary to express said opinions. So I don't get paid enough to put up with HitSheads like you. But since this is a public domain site where any troll can disrupt discussion I suppose I have no choice but to ignore you.

it's a well known fact that popular rock-n-roll acts of the 70's NEVER used drugs. They never had premarital sex and they didn't drink either.

it's a well known fact that ted never had a concert on the sabbath either!

He was tweeked out on something and it wasn't just the bottle of Jack he brought on stage with him.

Why are we even discussing whether he still uses or not? I guess if he still is, he's a being hypocritical but does that really surprise anyone?

More to the point is him indicating there have been riots in Philadelphia and Milwaukee. Did I miss something? I don't remember any rioting in either place. Or perhaps he is referring to American's Constitutional right to Freedom of Assembly.

If that's the case, he's even less credible than he was to begin with regardless of whether or not he's using.

Nugent has been sober since the 70's...he doesn't have time for the BS. Libs on the other hand want to legalize dope so they can escape reality without the fear of getting nabbed. Sucks to be Progressive, doesn't it MM buffoons....?

No, progressives want to legalize "dope" because America can no longer afford to wage a multi-million dollar a year "War on Drugs" when we haven't made a lick of headway since the first person took a hit.

          So legalizing pot will

          1) create a new source of tax revenue
          2) hamstring the cartels by making the supply more accessible therefor dropping the price. Possibly creating jobs as marijuana harvesters in this country.
          3) empty out a lot of prison cells that are currently occupied by those convicted on "Possession" charges

1: No tax increase on a product that can be grown by any individual and not required to be bought at tax revenue creating store. The government provided stuff will end up being more expensive than what would be offered privately. Creating an illegal black-market. Wrong on point 1.
2: How will you prove this? This theory has been around for years, and yet even in California where it is decriminalized, there is no drop in price and no drop in prison population and heavy cartel presence in known drug growing areas such as Humboldt county. Bring some factual stats to back up this claim NOT your hallucinogenic theories. Wrong on point 2.
3: It won't affect prison population. How will criminals suddenly be set free? Wrong on point 3.

So your 'legalize pot' rant is completely off-track and without any facts to support your theory.

What about the freedom to do what we want, huh? Free from opprsesive nanny state governments telling me what i can and cannot consume? Have you not spent the last several years arguign FOR this? I thought you liked capitalism!

Theres a demand. Just like for alcohol. And so there is a supply. Since that supply is already there, why dont we get the money, however small that may be, that is right now going solely into a black market?

And gcorrect me if im wrong, but isnt the food at stores ultra cheap? You know, something like lettuce that meets each and every point you complain about pot? Same deal. And yet there it is, cheap as hell.

Why is it that you cant even follow the ideology you claim is so important and essential to the american way of life? Its almost like you dont care and just want to hate us.

Why wouldn't it work? Didn't it work when the 18th Amendment was repealed? Or is the mob still in control of the sale of alcohol? Did it work when gambling was legalized, or is the mafia still in control of the gaming industry?

Legalized alcohol and gambling. Those are 2 very good examples of where legalization doesn't work very well. Perhaps you should check the latest stats on injuries and death caused by the abuse/use of alcohol. Let alone the family abuse stats caused by alcohol. Then check the latest stats on the financial ruin of individual families from gambling abuse.
Of course I realize there are some who can function ok while on pot, however, there are some who will abuse it even more when/if it is legalized. Since there is no testing procedure (like breathalyzer for alcohol) how would you control it's use during every day operations? Such as driving? Using at work? And differentiating between use for pleasure v. use during controlled hours (work/driving)? Since pot can stay in your system for up to 4 weeks, the current testing will not be able to tell if you used on Saturday but are now working on Wednesday ... it will show up as you still using. When they come up with a reliable testing procedure that shows you are 'on' pot as opposed to 'used' it within the past month, one of my complaints will have been addressed. But you would still have the personal dangers of legalizing another substance that decreases your ability to drive and control motor vehicles. Increasing the dangers to everyone else in the way of you. Are YOU willing to pay the additional medical costs for legalized pot and the consequences that would cause?

                        No. That is quite obvious.

BTW, I don't know where you get the idea I'm arguing in favor of "prohibition". Just because I explain the difficulties of legalizing pot you call me a "simpleton". I guess I kind of expect that from your type. However, prescription drugs are called "controlled substances" for a reason. Me get a clue? I think you need to read what is written and quit your far-left immediate bashing of anyone who doesn't toe your drug induced line (that's what I mean by "your type").

Maybe instead of whining about someone's opinion, you could comment on the dangers that ARE present with the use of alcohol and gambling. You seem to be denying that there are any dangers inherent in the partaking of either one. I'll bet there are a lot of wheelchair bound folks who would tend to disagree with your assumption that alcohol is perfectly safe and no one has ever been injured by those using. Put your pipe down for a couple days and let your head clear out before you post again. You aren't very good at this.

              1. You are wrong. You can grow tomatoes (and any other vegetable you want), but supermarkets are still in business.

              2. Decriminalization isn't legalization. One involves being legally allowed to produce, distribute and use a product. The other means you don't go to jail for the same things.

              3. It will at least lead to a decrease in new prison sentences. There may be mass-pardoning included.

It took about 30 seconds to refute you. You may want to learn a bit more on the topic.

                  1. No, they do not. That is the point of legalizing marijuana. So these people are no longer our source. We can have good ole American companies growing it for us. It'd be a chance for some serious entrepreneurship.

                  2. For medical purposes. 'Nuff said. That isn't legalizing it for the general populace.

                  3. I do. Read a book every now and then. There are hundreds, literally hundreds, on the topic. All of them argue that the prison population would decrease. Or you can read an overview. Check the table where it shows the main reasons for incarceration and the percentages from 2000 and 2009.

                  1. Tomatoes =/= marijuana. Tomatoes = tomatoes. The point is that people can grow tomatoes easily, but they still go to the supermarket to buy them because of convenience.

                  2. Again, marijuana possession, distribution, and use are NOT LEGAL in California. You keep missing this point and inserting your narrative instead.

                  3. Lets say 100 people a day go to prison for marijuana use. If it were legal, would those 100 people go to prison for marijuana use? Holy crap, am i really walking you through this?

              1. People can grow tobacco at home too. You know why they don't? Because its too inconvienent. The same thing will happen with marijuana.

              3. No, criminals will not be suddenly set free - that is absurd and for you to try to paint that as his argument is a classic strawman. He is saying that the population will decrease due to a lack of incoming population.

You actively ignore the hugest waste of money in this system, and its effects on society at large. So I will remind you of it, in a way that should appeal to any conservative:

A 2008 study by Harvard economist Jeffrey A. Miron has estimated that legalizing drugs would inject $76.8 billion a year into the U.S. economy — $44.1 billion from law enforcement savings, and at least $32.7 billion in tax revenue ($6.7 billion from marijuana, $22.5 billion from cocaine and heroin, remainder from other drugs). Recent surveys help to confirm the consensus among economists to reform drug policy in the direction of decriminalization and legalization.

That is very pretty. You get to infuse billions of dollars into the system. Is that fund where you will get the billions of dollars needed to pay medical costs for the injuries and deaths caused by improper use of legalized pot?
Or do you honestly think people will never abuse pot like they do .. say .. alcohol?

Did it ever occur to you that driving while high is as dangerous as driving while drunk? Why don't you look up the stats for medical costs related to alcohol related injuries in ANY given year. Specifically, check those stats out for high school aged kids.

So, we cannot legalize a chemical compound because Traveller insists on driving while he is high? Got it. Wonderful libertarian argument. Grow up, Traveller. You have the mindset of a twelve year old. Should we outlaw everything that your weak little constitution cannot handle. How about cell phones? People crash while talking on cell phones, so why not outlaw them altogether? Moron.

mikehuck, how about commenting on the actual conversation? Instead of making things up like you usually do? Why don't you comment on the cost that alcohol use has caused? Why don't you comment on the tax revenue brought in versus the medical bills paid out through alcohol? You don't EVER seem to be able to make accurate assessments of any given statement. You simply make things up so you can whine. What kind of cheese do you like?

Here's one for you kamrom. It cost the US $110 billion in 1998 for medical costs and "quality of life losses". "People other than the drinking driver paid $51 billion of the alcohol-related crash bill.".

Hmm, $100 BILLION because of alcohol abuse/dangers. I wonder if the taxes collected for all the sales of alcohol equalled this amount. Here's one site that gives an opinion on that.

Thanks to epkk. speaking of Ted Nugent:

          ON MILITARY SERVICE

He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days, he ingested nothing but Vienna sausages and Pepsi; and a week before his physical, he stopped using bathrooms altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with his own excrement, stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. "... but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the foxholes...I would have killed everybody." - Detroit Free Press Magazine , July 15, 1990

So? That was his classification. If you have a problem with what his habits were while he was classified 1Y then write to your local government official and complain to them. I'm sure they will open that case and correct that error as soon as you write to them. After all, you are so important and your opinion is so incredibly worthy that they will immediately re-write history to make sure YOU are happy and satisfied with how Nugent was classified during the VietNam war.

At least he didn't beg his "friends in high places" to get him another, lower, number like Clinton did. You think Nugent is a terrible person for the way he acted? I think Clinton is a terrible person for the way he acted. The difference is that you think Clinton is a great person and I don't think Nugent is a great person. I just accept that he was classified 1Y by the draft board.

Nugent drinking beer = not sober. Sober = no alcohol/drugs at all.

Would I say he has a problem? Nah, probably not, but he's certainly swilling a beer, and if he's with Bourdain, he ain't gonna stop at one.

Doctored videos of what? That is a clip from Anthony Bourdain's show. It is not "doctored."

Are you now suggesting that Anthony Burdine doctored a video to make it appear as if Ted Nugent was drinking a beer when he really wasn't?

If that were the case, don't you think Ted Nugent would be screaming from the heavens about it?

Why is it so hard for you just to admit that you were wrong in this case?

Ask yourself... seriously. What would Jesus do?

First of all, Nugent had Courtney Love perform oral sex on her when she was 12; second of all, why would that make him "a liberal hero"? Republicans are the ones trying to redefine rape, insisting that victims were "asking for it". Hell, the Speaker of the House helped protect a pedophile.

I think "The Nuge" has always been clean? I know he's a spokesman for DARE, and I remember way back in school hearing that he was clean. This doesn't mean he low-crawled through the gutters but he seems to be an example in this case.

Yeah, he has claimed to be "CLEAN," except when he claimed to use as well.

Despite repeated claims that he has never used drugs and continual condemnation of those who have, in the same High Times article noted above, he also admitted to taking crystal meth [methamphetamine] before the medical exam, to whit, "I," said Nugent, "got this big juicy 4F," referring to his updated draft status after being found permanently unfit from military service.

If the goons had an ounce of brains among them, they would come to the conclusion that the reason they are dumb, unskilled mouth-breathers unprepared for the future is because of bloated, runaway government, not because there has been too little of it or that the rich do not pay enough in taxes.

This is a complete farce. Bloated runaway government is NOT the reason we have a plethora of 'dumb, unskilled mouth-breathers unprepared for the future'. That any of our populace is in any way prepared for the future is thanks to the Department of Education, something knuckledraggers like Ted want to do away with to make room for even more wealth for the rich.

Too bad for the likes of you, Ted, that SOME government is in fact necessary. Not everyone can get out of serving their country by crapping their pants, Ted, but when I hear you speak in such condescending tones about people who chose service to their country, it makes me want to puke. You had your chance to be a star spangled boy, Ted, and you quite literally crapped on it. So spare me the sanctimonious bile you spew in the name of loving your country. In my union you of course get laid off by seniority. You get to bid jobs with your seniority. Many of the youngest guys were STAUNCH Bush, GOP, supporters. When the economic downturn came quite a few of them were laid off or had to go to Nebraska or Wyoming for several years. When I told my wife the economic woes would hit the railroad hard she told me to get to work. I said it wont effect me. They will lay the young guys off. I will still make do the same job and make the same amount of trips. It is bad to see hard times for any working man but it was somewhat ironic that the hardest hit were those most enthusiastic about the policies that put them on the street. Of course eventually after retirements and better economy they will come back but its still hard to go from making very good money to whatever you can get

Next time maybe Teddypoo will not miss facts like this:

For 90 percent of the population, their wages are declining. 68.3 million Americans struggle to get enough food to eat because there is no source of income available to them other than Government.

Ted is paid to write his junk to deflect from this point:

A highly complex and largely discrete set of laws and exemptions from laws has been put in place by those in the uppermost reaches of the US financial system. It allows them to protect and increase their wealth and significantly affect the US political and legislative processes.

Nugent is a hoe who willing sells control of his handle to a few in the Top 0.01 percent of the population that believe in the values of Social Darwinism.

Questions Arise Over Whether 'Flash Mob' Attacks in U.S. Cities Motivated by Race

Here is how this liberal-caused-crime was created ...

      1) It's the liberals who are the self proclaimed owners of compulsory schooling and the teachers unions. They parade themselves as the "intellects" and "the-compassionate-ones" of society.
      2) But these bastards intentionally refuse to educate Greek virtues or Christian moralities to school children.
      3) Aristotle said: “The entire purpose of education is to inculcate the basic virtues in children so that they can live happy successful lives when they grow up”. Aristotle determined: “Only The Good Can Be Happy And Succeed – And Only The Virtuous Can Be Good”. Here are the seven virtues that Aristotle educated in the years 400 BC:
      Integrity;
      Honesty;
      Compassion;
      Friendship
      Responsibility;
      Kindness;
      Gentleness.

There wouldn't be any mass-mob-hate-crimes if past generations of school-children were inculcated in these virtues! ARE FUKKING LIBERALZ educating "customers" for lawyers, judges, court-house systems, prisons , bail-bondsmen, and parole officers?
And when hundreds of thousands of Americans are murdered and/or attacked each year, that's the price to pay for liberal-mis-education?
Where is your fukking compassion in this you phony bastards????

YOU LIBERAL CRIMINALS AT THE DEPT OF EDUCATION SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR THIS!

So... Ted's a 'boneheaded liberal' now?? - cuz he just made up excuses.

It continues to bother me that this hate rhetoric is being pushed so thoroughly by hate-wing radio and the fox channels!
Are they trying to spark a race war? An "us against them" horror? They keep bad mouthing "liberals" so much that I am starting to wonder if they are starting to keep track of names and addresses so they can "round them up" when they get back to POWER that they so desperately crave! It didn't seem so long ago that this kind of talk was actually frowned upon in a civilized society, not encouraged by almost everyone on the right(hate)wing side.
(I hate to bring up the obvious "dog whistle" of bringing up Obamas name once again with "gangland", "drug pushers" etc. rhetoric)

So does the Washington Times editor ever like... ask Ted to re-do it until it makes the tiniest fraction of sense?

The Nuge clearly thinks that packing in "powerful" words and using 3rd grade techniques such as alliteration constitutes insightful thought on the page.

Instead, we get inciteful, redundant gibberish that always has the same exact point and no no relation whatsoever to reality. The people rioting were largely not poor people on the dole - that's who got rioted on and I'm sick to death of the right wing scapegoating the victims.

Someone like Ted Nugent trying to tell people about politics? He's a no-class, no-talent, nobody, who just wants to feel relevant anyway he can. Spewing hatred and racism towards our President is NOT by any means, AMERICAN! These people have no basis for their argument, so they resort to personal attacks and name-calling. Totally unable to voice their beliefs and political views in a professional, and respectful way. In other words, the radical right are not very intelligent at all. Soundbite politics doesn't make for good policy and governing. Mr. Nugent should get a job.
