Right-wing Blogger Codrea Takes Credit For "Unacceptable" Holder Nazi Photo

October 31, 2011 12:36 pm ET by Chris Brown

On October 11th Media Matters noted that right-wing blogger Mike Vanderboegh repeatedly posted an image of Attorney General Eric Holder transposed to a appear as a Nazi officer. The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) denounced the image and called on Fox News (who has repeatedly featured Vanderboegh) and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (who recently granted him an award) to do so as well:

As we have consistently said before, invoking the Holocaust to make political points is never acceptable. We strongly encourage others to condemn this type of behavior when they see it.

Unfortunately, after allowing individuals such as Glenn Beck and Hank Williams, Jr. to use Holocaust rhetoric during their appearances on the air, it is unlikely that Fox News will do the right thing and repudiate Vanderboegh. Indeed, Fox News' own chief executive compared NPR executives to the Nazis and lashed out at those criticizing the network for allowing such behavior to take place.

That leaves JPFO--a Jewish group that recently awarded Vanderboegh--to act responsibly and make it clear that his behavior is unacceptable.

Yesterday, Vanderboegh writing partner David Codrea outed himself as the creator of the image.

Blogging at Examiner.com Codrea writes that he created the image and gets explicit with the Nazi smear:

I guess it's confession time.  I made them. And I didn't use Photoshop.  I have neither the time nor inclination to become skilled with that, and find the admittedly limited capabilities of Paint adequate for producing satirical images, crude in technique though they may be.  So it looks like I've just doubled JPFO's [Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership] troubles--now both their award recipients are in hot water with NJDC.

National socialists sure get prickly when you point out what they are...

Codrea is at the very least suggesting NJDC is working on behalf of "National Socialists", if not suggesting they are Nazi themselves.

NJDC has opposed political attacks invoking Nazism by both conservatives and liberals.

What's funny is that the guy who created the image has now doubled down on the stoopid. First, putting a black man in a Nazi picture doesn't even make sense. Then calling Holder a National Socialist (is he one of these guys who think Nazis were socialists because it had that word in their party name?? Probably so).

In Wingnut World, the smear need not follow any form of accepted logic... it just has to evoke the desired emotional response among the Troglodytes.

Exactly! When Right Wingers select words from their vocabulary, they do it based on where the word falls on the emotional response scale; not the actual meaning of the word. That's how they can call Obama both a Marxist and a Fascist - often in the same sentence.

That was the one that always made me chuckle a lot. Czars = commies. Someone doesn't know their history very well.

        Wait. I'm confused.

I've been watching Fox News faithfully for years now, and according to them, Nazis are poor black Mexican Jews who favor free, public education and affordable health care.

Nazis threw live human beings into hot ovens.
Eric Holder might be a lot of things, a Nazi isn't one of them.

And the GOP continues to wonder why they can't capture the Jewish vote in this country.

Typical example of the fact that the Kock Bros. and Heritage mouthpieces don't give a rat's-ass about what they're doing as long as dirty money is in their hands. Pathetic human beings, all.

Well, yeah, but some liberal blogger somewhere compared Bush to Hitler once, so what Fox and Vanderboegh did is ok.

That is, of course, their justification.

"You guys did it to President Bush!"

Of course, they can't point to a major media figure that did call Bush a Nazi. Or if they can, said same media figure probably apologized and was suspended for doing something so stupid. Hell, Dan Rather lost his entire career at CBS because he ran a badly sourced story. Imagine if they had that kind of accountability at FoxNews?

I find it hypocritical of the left and MMFA to cry about a photo showing Holder as a Nazi and calling it unacceptable but had no problem with photos of Bush as a Nazi.

We have examples of major media figures making those comparisons and also giving prominent air time to those who do. Can you come up with examples of media figures showing WPE Bus as a Nazi? Can you produce examples of them giving air time to bloggers who did so? Or is the best you can show us a few examples of obscure internet blogs?

You're pushing a false equivalence, exactly as I said you clowns would in my earlier post.
