CNN's Dana Loesch: Too Extreme For Rush Limbaugh

January 13, 2012 2:02 pm ET by Jeremy Holden

CNN contributor Dana Loesch is under fire for comments she made on her radio show dismissing outrage over video that appears to show members of the United States Marine Corps urinating on dead bodies that early reports have identified as Afghans, saying that she would "drop trou and do it, too." Loesch's comments are so extreme, they put her out on a fringe where even Rush Limbaugh won't go.

Thursday night, Loesch complained that "we have a bunch of progressives that are talking smack about our military because there were Marines caught urinating on corpses -- Taliban corpses."  She went on to say:

Can someone explain to me if there's supposed to be a scandal that someone pees on the corpse of a Taliban fighter? Someone who was -- as part of an organization murdered over 3,000 Americans? I'd drop trou and do it, too. That's me, though. I want a million cool points for these guys. Is that harsh to say?

Loesch's comments have been widely rejected, leading to her responding that she was "defending" the Marines from "overly-dramatic hysteria."

Her comments put the talk radio host out on the fringe where even Rush Limbaugh won't go. Dana Loesch - a CNN contributor - responded to the video by saying she would "drop trou and do it, too." Limbaugh -- RUSH LIMBAUGH -- responded to the video by saying there is "no defense of this":

Well, there's a video, nobody knows how old it is, of some U.S. Marines urinating on the bodies of Taliban combatants in Afghanistan. Peed on them. And of course it's Marines. It violated the rules. There's no defense of this. The overreaction of this is nuts, but still it happened.

Dana Loesch's comments, too extreme for Rush Limbaugh, put her out on the fringe where CNN should never go.

yeah but then he said overreaction about it is nuts. which basically negated the whole previous statement. Because he wouldnt be Rush if he didnt contradict himself in the next sentence...

That is precisely why I ended the quote when I did. I only wanted to capture the agreement.

Also, I don't know that he contradicted himself. He proved himself to be the ass we know he is, but he didn't negate the first part of his statement.

It would seem that Dana Loesch graduated from the same school of Pretend-I-Didn't-Say-What-I-Just-Said Opinionating that our wingnut members here graduated from.

      She said:

But now wants everyone to believe that she wasn't agreeing with the action, but simply reacting to the heavy criticism these Marines are getting.

      Sure, Dana.

I can just see someone like Dana Loesch taking the completely opposite view had it been Afghan fighters who had urinated on the corpses of American soldiers. Loesch and probably Pam Geller would have likely had a racially-tinged knee-jerk reaction that would probably have resulted in them calling the offenders immoral animals or something of that sort. Whatever their reaction, they certainly would not be defending the actions as they are now.

Naturally. When they're dead Taliban, she'd "have dropped trou and done it, too". I'll bet if it were the reverse, she'd be among the throng demanding that the offenders have their weinies lopped off for the desecration. You know, if thine eye offend and all that.

Let's not forget that to Afghans, these are probably not "Taliban" corpses, they're most likely seen as Afghan corpses being desecrated by American soldiers. Kinda like if a China was occupying parts of California and some Republican Tea-Partier was desecrated by Chinese soldiers. Yeah, they're bad guys to us now, but I'll bet the ol' American identification of them would override how they were Republicans.

Or even more to the point, they're probably seen by most Afghanis as "could be my brother, my uncle, my father, my son."
