Dana Loesch Responds: "Progressives Felt As Though That These Marines Should Be Bowing To The Taliban"

January 13, 2012 5:57 pm ET by Jeremy Holden

CNN's Dana Loesch responded to the growing controversy surrounding her comments dismissing outrage over video apparently showing U.S. Marines urinating on dead bodies by saying that her critics "felt as though these Marines should be bowing to the Taliban ... just like this administration does."

Earlier this week, after video emerged that appeared to show members of the United States Marine Corps urinating on dead bodies that early reports have identified as Afghans Loesch complained that "we have a bunch of progressives that are talking smack about our military because there were Marines caught urinating on corpses -- Taliban corpses." Military and national security experts from across the political spectrum have condemned the video and have pointed out that the actions depicted in it likely violate U.S. and international law.

Loesch tried to explain her comments:

The reaction to what these Marines did is disproportionate to the actual offense: beyond disproportionate. They'll be dealt with it. Get over it. And that was my entire point.

That was far from Loesch's "entire point." In fact, she went on to say that the individuals shown in the video should be awarded "a million cool points" and went on question whether "there's supposed to be a scandal that someone pees on the corpse of a Taliban fighter" and bragged, "I'd drop trou and do it, too."

Loesch's comments were widely condemned throughout the day Friday, leading her to lash out at her critics with the suggestion that they sided with the Taliban:

I think the progressives felt as though that these Marines should be bowing to the Taliban, and every other combatant, and every other foreign entity just like this administration does. So my whole point was to say that your whole reaction was ridiculous.

Furthermore, this ditzy woman just keeps painting herself into a smaller and smaller space and she seems to have no insight as to just how disgusting she is. She also has no excuse like battle fatigue like these men did even though their training is clear that it is not to be done. So she is just letting her disgusting words all hang out there no matter the consequence on the lives of our military. Never mind if her inflammatory blabber gets some military guy killed. I say CNN should just fire this silly woman who has no concern for the safety of our military. Besides she is wrong on the military code of ethics and blatantly encouraging this sort of disgusting behavior. Stooooopid is far too good to describe this monstrous, unGodly, hate filled stupidity and dangerous rhetoric.

"So my whole point was to say that your whole reaction was ridiculous. "

Sorry, but it just rings hollow when a person who claims to want to pee on dead people calls someone ridiculous.

And it certainly doesn't help her case that she accuses progressives of bowing to the Taliban because they don't share her desire to pee on them.

Ahh, in three sentences you said it far more clearly than I did with that long tirade and you hit every pertinent point as you did it too. Thanks.

Dana you are just a LIAR. You know you are lying now. Once a soldier is DEAD, they are no longer an enemy. How stupid are you that you dont get this. Expecting them to follow the UCMJ is not expecting them to bow to anyone.

The logical fallacy here of course is the false dichotomy. EITHER they get to desecrate a dead body or they are expected to bow down to them. Dana is a dispicable and loathsome human being

nah, Dana, rejecting one reaction is not endorsing its extreme opposite. And lousy grammar noted.

Technically she is correct--but only if your interractions with other people are bifurcated between bowing to people and urinating on them.

The sad thing about her point is that she proposed behavior she would choose that shows her to be a despicable person with no ability to follow the norms of society and further she APPEARS to be totally void of any religious values that would NOT allow such despicable behavior under any circumstances. I can understand it from a battle weary military person, but from some jerk sitting all safe and sound in a TV studio but still, who shows such reckless disregard for the safety of our military borders on treason. To facilitate and condone something that actually constitutes a crime in the military code of conduct leaves one to wonder if she has an ounce of patriotism in her. Aside from all that, it is just unGodly!

And here folks, we have the ever present strawman from Dana.

This administration thinks no such thing, and they have given no quarter to the bad guys. Remember who killed Bin Laden? Oh, yeah, that whole thing.

That wasn't the point you were making. You were PROUD of these Marines desecrating their enemy, and you said you'd join them. The act was bad enough, but you were ENCOURAGING it. Oh, and get this, such famous liberals as the Commandant of the USMC has called this despicable, and if he were reached for comment about what you said, I'm sure he'd find your comment just as objectionable.

      Lady, you're a moron.

Yes her racist sw8ill would be wonderfully funny if not for the stupidity of her comment and the result if any one adopts her suggested behavior. The woman has gone far beyond betraying her country with this sick statement. And if she thinks these military guys appreciate her stupidity, my guess is that they disassociate themselves entirely from the stupid statement she made. Of course the tragedy, they will suffer the consequence for their behavior no matter how stupid this woman's rant turned out to be.

Dana is disgraceful, She is cheering a position that is against everything America represents -- that we are BETTER than those scum that dragged American troop's burned bodies through the steets. And that American troops do not desecrate the bodies of War dead of other side...something that's been in our military codes since George Washington led the troops.

I hesitate to describe Loesch in the terms she deserves. She's unfathomably ignorant (e.g. the Taliban were NOT responsible for the attacks on 9/11, regardless of what she thinks).

Our military are good people, who are functioning under unbelievably difficult circumstances. Inevitably, poorly led and/or disciplined young men under these conditions will give in to their "base" instincts and be motivated to do what these marines did. These things (and worse) happen in all wars; but in this day and age, we seem to feel compelled to document our outrages.

I find it somehow strange though, that this video suddenly "surfaced" as peace talks were scheduled to begin with the Taliban. It almost seems like the release of the video was designed to undermine the talks.
