CNN Journalists Blast Loesch's "Outrageous" Comments

January 13, 2012 6:09 pm ET by Joe Strupp

Several CNN on-air journalists are criticizing Dana Loesch's recent comments supporting the U.S. Marines who allegedly urinated on the dead bodies of Taliban forces.

Loesch, a CNN contributor, made the comments during her radio show Thursday. Among other things, Loesch said of the incident: "I'd drop trou and do it too."

Such views brought sharp criticism from some CNN on-air reporters.

"I can't imagine someone really thinking that, it is so outrageous," said one CNN reporter who requested anonymity. "I think she is trying to garner attention to herself, and that is sad. If that is what she truly believes, she has issues. If you look at that video, I don't care who you are, your stomach should turn.

"The problem with these contributors is they aren't under the same guidelines journalists are, and CNN journalists are. We have very clear ways of doing business. When you have these people we bring in to spice up our airwaves, it is going to happen. It is concerning, obviously."

Another regular CNN journalist added: "I am of the school of thought, 'Why aren't we putting people who are knowledgeable on the air?' I'll just say 'Ewww.' I think it's in poor taste."

A third CNN journalist who has been reporting on the story said Loesch is misguided in thinking that defending the Marines' alleged actions amount to being supportive of the military.

"If she is thinking that she is somehow supporting the military, any source in the military will tell you she is not," the journalist said. "It is so distasteful for the military. It is a black eye. Clearly, everyone I've talked to said that is not acceptable."

At least one regular CNN political contributor took issue with the comments and with CNN's handling of Loesch and other right-wing contributors:

"What's interesting is how the kid gloves are applied to outlandish comments made by the likes of Erick Erickson or Dana Loesch and how it has a negative impact on the CNN brand," said the contributor, who also requested anonymity. "There really is no pushback or no real conversation that says, 'Look, you make these kinds of comments or you write these kinds of wild, crazy stuff, that's just not what we're about.' It simply doesn't happen. I think there is fear of saying anything to them because they are Tea Party folks, and there has been a clear effort on the part of our political team to court that whole Tea Party thought process, if you will."

"The danger is always the negative impact on your whole political coverage," the contributor added. "Because clearly you want there to be a point of view, but there is a difference between a point of view and being so far off the rails it defies logic."

I can guess this woman came to CNN from Fox News. She truly does not sound like a CNN reporter, So my guess the company will ask her to eat crow. But she said it and it will be difficult to even look at her pathetic face due to her reckless disregard for the high moral values of our Country that are supposed to be reflected in the behavior of our military men and women. She needs to apologize or go. She will no doubt be invited to Fox because she would fit right in in their hate mongering like Hannity and of course a has been Fox bot, Glenn Beck.

I just sent an email to CNN demanding the goof be fired for her totally sadistic, unpatriotic and un-Godly speech. I shall not listen to CNN till they fire this creep. She went far beyond what is fair and attacked the military justice system. She would fit right in with the Taliban behavior or make a perfect Gestapo high flying participant.. She is definitely not an American Patriot! She is totally embarrassing to our country.

CNN, already said that they are not responsible for the spewings of their "contributors" and implied no action would be taken.

The Tbagger movement is as DEAD AS DISCO. The Tparty has a 9% approval rating. Who actually thinks this sort of person is relevant?? The main stream media needs to get real and stop trying to pretend the tbaggers are actually relevant. THEY ARE NOT. But, it's good for the left worldview having these no-nothings speaking for the right wing.

The tragedy is that this ditsy woman is clueless about the fact that she puts the lives of our military in jeopardy by her ignorant statement. Ignorant and totally un-Godly! I simply cannot believe she would encourage military people to break the law by promoting this behavior. Of course, she will never suffer like a military person in the thick of battle will if they follow her advice. Hopefully, there are few who would make this truly stupid remark like she did, let alone, act on it. she is an unpatriotic menace to our country's well being!

And I can just hear the right wing outrage if the roles were reversed, Taliban insurgents urinating on dead US Marines. Certainly that would be just as gross. Defending actions like this further erodes our credibility and respect level around the world. CNN should fire this despicable person, but won't. Our best action is to not watch CNN any longer.

At least the Taliban fighters have the courage of their convictions and put their lives on the line for them - as opposed to the gutless wonders who talk "tough" from the comfort of a studio a continent or two away.

Judging from the amount of bile that Madame Loesch secretes she could be used for a liver transplant - infinitely more useful than her current existence.

That visual could be used, if ever necessary, to keep you from taking seriously anything she spews. Someone once told me, years ago, that a way to counter nervousness when meeting, or being interviewed, by a high-power type was to imagine him taking a dump.
