Media promote claim that Bush administration's Guantánamo policies "kept us safe"

SUMMARY: Echoing Dick Cheney's recent speeches and media appearances, several conservative media figures and outlets have claimed that the Bush administration's policies with respect to the detention facility at Guantánamo Bay "kept us safe." In fact, there is substantial evidence that the opposite is true.
