Howard Kurtz vouched for FOX's unreliable sources

In his September 19 column, New York Times columnist Frank Rich referred to FOX News Channel as "GOP TV." In response, on the September 26 edition of CNN's Reliable Sources, host and Washington Post media critic Howard Kurtz asked Rich if that label is "fair to [FOX News Channel] correspondents like Carl Cameron and Jim Angle and Major Garrett ... who are trying to do a straightforward job." But Media Matters for America has documented numerous examples of reporting by Cameron, Angle, and Garrett that belie Kurtz's supposition that they are "trying to do a straightforward job."

From the September 26 edition of CNN's Reliable Sources:

KURTZ: But when you [Rich] use the phrase "GOP TV," it seems to me you may have more in mind than people like [FOX News Channel hosts Sean] Hannity or [Bill] O'Reilly. Is that fair to correspondents like Carl Cameron and Jim Angle and Major Garrett, who [in the case of Angle and Garrett] used to work at CNN, who are trying to do a straightforward job?

Following are some examples of MMFA items on these three "straightforward" correspondents:
