O'Reilly labeled Air America "the Joseph Goebbels network"

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly called progressive talk radio network Air America "the Joseph Goebbels network," a reference to the Nazi propagandist. In addition to frequently labeling individuals and organizations as "fascist," O'Reilly has previously used the Goebbels analogy to smear radio host Al Franken, author/documentarian Michael Moore, and Media Matters for America president and CEO David Brock.

From the August 24 edition of Westwood One's The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:

CALLER: Hi, I was wanting to say I listened to a Democratic-based radio talk show this morning, and I couldn't believe how they had no idea what they're going to do. All they know is to criticize Bush. People would call in -- Democrats now, that supported these people, would call in and ask, you know, yeah, Bush is doing it wrong. What is it you plan on doing? And all they would do is come back and say well, if -- we need to change this, need to change that.

O'REILLY: Yeah, but they don't have -- that sounds like Air America. Is that who you listened to?

CALLER: They won't answer what --

O'REILLY: I knew it. I knew it. Because, look, those are clowns! Those are jugglers! Those are bear-baiters. There are people in the Middle Ages who would be going town to town wearing two-toned hats with bells on them, with all due respect. They don't know anything. I mean, it's just insane. I mean, if you're listening to that outfit, which is rapidly going bankrupt and now owes $900,000 to a children's charity that lent them money they can't pay back, if you're listening to that kind of nonsense for anything other than just entertainment value -- but if you're believing what they say, you're an extremist. They don't know anything! It's all crazy propaganda. The Joseph Goebbels network.
