Olbermann awarded Fox's Gibson "Worst Person" bronze for ordering viewers to "make more babies" in response to Hispanic population growth

Concluding from a May 10 Washington Post article that Hispanics will make up half of the U.S. population in 25 years, Gibson urged his viewers to "make more babies," as Media Matters for America noted. The Post reported that nearly half of all children under the age of five in the United States are minorities. Gibson added: "By far, the greatest number [of children under five] are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years, and the majority of the population is Hispanic." Gibson later claimed: "To put it bluntly, we need more babies." Awarding Gibson the "Worst Person" bronze medal, Olbermann noted, "John would have placed higher, but it's become obvious he no longer hears what he's saying, and besides which, the average age of his viewers is about 70, so this is only hypothetical eugenics."

OLBERMANN: That's ahead, but first it's time for Countdown's latest list of nominees for "Worst Person in the World." The bronze to John Gibson of Fox News Channel. He's now encouraged his viewers to quote, "Do your duty. Make more babies" because Hispanics are quote, "having more kids than others. You know what that means, 25 years and the majority of the population is Hispanic," unquote. John would have placed higher, but it's become obvious he no longer hears what he's saying, and besides which, the average age of his viewers is about 70, so this is only hypothetical eugenics.
