On Fox News, Conway suggested Clinton will take "revenge" on Obama donors

On the July 2 edition of Fox News' The Big Story, Kellyanne Conway -- the CEO and president of the polling company inc., who, according to the biography posted on her company's website, "has provided commentary on over 1,000 ... television shows" -- suggested that Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY) would take "revenge" against the more than 250,000 people who have donated to Sen. Barack Obama's (D-IL) presidential campaign. Conway said: "[T]hese are 250,000-plus people who are willing to publicly go against the Clintons. That's remarkable to me because, you know, Hillary Clinton ... puts a lot of energy into revenge."

Host John Gibson then asked her: "Revenge you say? ... Against common, old, everyday contributors out there, you think?" Conway justified her allegation that Clinton is vengeful by citing unspecified "evidence" in "two new biographies about her," presumably referring to Her Way: The Hopes and Ambitions of Hillary Rodham Clinton by Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta Jr. (Little, Brown & Co., June 2007) and A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton by Carl Bernstein (Knopf, June 2007).

CONWAY: I think that's what's going to hurt [former New York City Mayor Rudy] Giuliani [R] and [former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt] Romney [R] and Obama in the end, which is you don't have enough Washington experience when times are so tough.

Here's the other thing, if you donate to Barack Obama's campaign or anyone's for that matter, you're on record -- it's a matter of public record -- so these are 250,000-plus people who are willing to publicly go against the Clintons. That's remarkable to me because, you know, Hillary Clinton spends a lot of energy in -- in putting -- she puts a lot of energy into revenge. The other thing that's remarkable is --

GIBSON: Revenge you say?

CONWAY: Sure. The other thing that's remarkable --

GIBSON: Against common, old, every day contributors out there, you think?

CONWAY: Well, let's just read that the two new biographies about her -- from folks who wouldn't be accused of being, you know, Republican or conservative voters -- for more evidence of that.

But, John, the -- the other thing about Barack Obama's rise in fundraising and sustenance is: He is seen as a fresh alternative to politics as usual and I think that the fact that he raised three-and-a-half times what [Sen.] John McCain [R-AZ] raised this quarter says something, too. He's got a lot of money on -- on hand. The other thing is, people are not giving to Hillary Clinton because they don't know her. They're not giving to her as much because they do know her. If you're Hillary Clinton, you have 110 percent name I.D. What is your money really going to buy you in the end?

GIBSON: [Fox News political analyst] Juan Williams, is -- there's another way to look at it and I'm sure that in Democratic circles where Hillary Clinton's still the favorite, this seems like an awfully expensive vice presidential nomination for Mr. Obama.
