FOX's Carl Cameron: Kerry quotes poet who "praised communism"

On the June 15 edition of FOX News Channel's Special Report with Brit Hume, the network's chief political correspondent, Carl Cameron, noted that a line Senator John Kerry frequently uses on the campaign trial was written by award-winning Harlem Renaissance poet Langston Hughes, who, Cameron claimed, "often" attacked religion and God and made pro-communism remarks.

From the June 15 edition of FOX News Channel's Special Report with Brit Hume:

CAMERON: And to illustrate his optimism, he [Kerry] often quotes Langston Hughes, who often attacked religion and God and praised communism, but did pen this favorite Kerry line...

KERRY: [video clip] "Let America be America again" [the title of a Hughes poem]

As Media Matters for America has previously noted, President George W. Bush praised Hughes as one of the writers "that inspire us" in a proclamation celebrating Black History Month in February 2001. And First Lady Laura Bush recited a Hughes poem at a 2002 White House event.
