Video Producer

Media Matters for America -- a progressive, Washington, D.C-based, nonprofit research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media -- seeks a Video Producer to help carry out our mission as a member of the Digital Department. This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office. Applicants must be prepared to relocate if they don’t already live within commuting distance of downtown D.C.


  • The Video Producer will work with the Digital Director and Executive Producer of Multimedia to create video products for Media Matters. This will include original video productions and compilation videos. For original video productions, s/he will take the lead in shooting and editing videos designed to engage a web audience.


  • At least 2 years of experience in video production:

    • Background in video production, including setting up shoots, including audio and lighting. Shoots will be indoors and outdoors. Some will involve camera movement, e.g., tracking shots.

  • At least 2 years of experience in video post-production:

    • Experience with video editing for a web audience, with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or its equivalent.

    • Experience with animation, with Adobe After Effects or its equivalent.

    • Ability to create integrated text and graphics with a clean and modern style.

  • Communication skills:

    • Interest in media and the effect of conservative misinformation on public debate;

    • Knowledge of what works in web video, with the ability to identify stories and items that have viral potential.

  • Flexible and adaptable work style:

    • Self-starter who can excel both independently and in a team setting;

    • Ability to multi-task and quickly adapt to new challenges.
