"Oil"-Reilly again gushed misleading Iraqi oil statistics
Fox News host Bill O'Reilly again misleadingly maintained that Iraqi oil production is one of the success stories of the war, reporting that "[o]il production is up to 100 percent." As Media Matters for America has previously explained, O'Reilly ignores the fact that the current capacity of the Iraqi oil industry has greatly diminished from pre-war levels. While Iraq may indeed be producing at current capacity, the overall amount of oil the nation is producing is less than before the war.
From the September 26 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor:
O'REILLY: Yes, we have very, very good contacts and military analysts. None of them are saying that the war is being lost. Let me just submit to you this. Sixteen out of the 19 provinces in Iraq are pacified. Oil production is up to 100 percent. And there are vast improvements in the north and southern parts of the country.

man, what a pun. i can't believe this s.g. guy. who does he think he is?
I must be missing the rose colored glasses O'Reilly is wearing. Maybe he puts them on after the show. And if he was correct, why hasn't he asked Wolfy and Rumsfeld about this oil paying for our adventure like we were told before the invasion. Hugs, kisses, and flowers for the liberators and the oil will foot the bill, cakewalk=deception.
Hey BO, now that it's so nice there, how 'bout you spending a few days touring the "pacified" provinces?
And when you do, make sure you paste really big "FOX NEWS" signs on the SUVs in your convoy.
The "O" will make a good aiming point.
I missed the news about the "pacified" provinces. These definitely weren't the provinces featured in Frontline's "Private Warriors". Bill really needs to do what Martin Smith did and tour Iraq from the safety of a bulletproof Ford Excrusion so he can see for himself what a wonderful, "pacified" utopia Iraq has become, instead of just recycling second-hand knowledge from his news desk and radio mic.
Dee: good point. Since Iraqi oil production is now skyrocketing maybe our tax dollars can be put to use elsewhere and we can slow down the skyrocketing war tab: [link to costofwar.com]
Great link, thanks. The cost is far beyond the value of the Iraqi oil, debt is a better description for the cost, debt for decades. We should never forget the loss of human life before any monetary cost.
I heard BO make this comment and all I could react with was "Huh?" Where oh were does he get his "facts"?? (that was rhetorical!) I know where he gets his facts - they're clinging to the "toy" he entertains himself with.
If he believes things are so rosey, perhaps he should do some reporting from there - travel around the country and show everyone in America how beautiful the country is - and perhaps he can take Gretta with and they can search for some "Missing White Girls".
Misleading and O'Reily must be a synonym I missed on the SAT's.
