On the June 6 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio program, Neal Boortz stated that "[s]o many" of the victims of Hurricane Katrina "have turned out to be complete bums, just debris."

Citing the case of Theon Johnson, a Katrina evacuee who -- according to the June 5 edition of New York Magazine -- has manipulated New York City's "squatters-rights law" to remain in the JFK Airport Holiday Inn rather than return home, Boortz launched into an all-out attack on Katrina victims in general. Boortz said he "love[s] talking" to his listeners "about these Katrina refugees" and claimed that "[s]o many of them have turned out to be complete bums, just debris." Boortz added that Johnson is a "Katrina deadbeat -- like so many thousands more."

From the June 6 broadcast of Cox Radio Syndication's The Neal Boortz Show:

BOORTZ: I love talking to you about these Katrina refugees. I mean, so many of them have turned out to be complete bums, just debris. Debris that Hurricane Katrina washed across the country. That describes Theon Johnson.

BOORTZ: Theron [sic] Johnson, New York City-Katrina deadbeat -- like so many thousands more.
