Savage: "We should bring back Saddam, a Sunni, because he knows how to control" the Shia "maniacs"

On the September 12 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Michael Savage asserted that "we should bring back Saddam, a Sunni, because he knows how to control the Shia." Savage added: "You can laugh all you want. He knew how to control them; he knew how to keep these maniacs under control. And he was also a counterbalance to Iran."
As Media Matters for America has documented, Savage is not the only media personality to endorse Saddam's methods. On the June 19 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly declared that if he were the president of Iraq, he would run the country "just like Saddam [Hussein] ran it," by establishing curfews and shooting violators "right between the eyes." On the June 27 edition of his radio program, O'Reilly suggested that "[i]f we wage the war the way Saddam handled Iraq, then we would have already won."
From the September 12 edition of The Savage Nation:
SAVAGE: Well I got news for you, [caller], I'm the first to have said it, but I'm not the last to have said it. I said it a year ago. Maybe we should bring back Saddam, a Sunni, because he knows how to control the Shia.
CALLER: Yeah. Could be. And you got Syria --
SAVAGE: No. You can laugh all you want. He knew how to control them; he knew how to keep these maniacs under control. And he was also a counterbalance to Iran. This is a gigantic mistake. Something is wrong.

(collective punishment for the crimes of your government) and now Scavenger wants to gas more people. Man, those RW nut-bags can turn 180 degrees in a split second! LOL
Many people on this blog have said it was a safer place prior to the US invasion.
I think the issue is that Savage is being inconsistent.
People are allowed to change thier mind. Just yesterday he was arguing with a caller who asked Savage to take back his words about this being the most corrupt admin to ever take office. Savage is far from a bushite these days.
Seriously. This wiener is so insane, he apparently has no problem with taking polar opposite opinions from one day to the next. This is a shining example.
Wiener used to go on and on and on about what a war criminal Saddam was and the claims about torture and rape rooms and mass murder. I heard him with my own ears. Now he tells us to put Saddam back in charge? Why did 100,000+ people die and the result is ultimately a zero net change?
This is probably the most morally bankrupt position I have ever seen on this issue. Only an insane person could spout it as often and earnestly as this wiener guy.
Regardless of whether or not Iraq was better off before or after the US invasion, no one has suggested bringing back Saddam besides Weiner.
there is none. It was just a statement.
We shouldnt comment on this psycho unless he actually physically assaults someone? They are ALL just statements. Usually insane, psychotic statements. If I said Bush was the Antichrists would you say its ok nothing to comment on it was just a statement? This mans psychotic ignorance is the worst thing in the media right now as far as I am concerned. He is in desperate need of serious medication.
Savage's remark that "then we would have already won" strongly suggests that things are not going well in Iraq... such a defeatist attitude, I am sure, gives aid and comfort to the Islamofascist enemy. Why does Michael Savage want the terrorists to win? Why does he hate America?
weak on Terror?
he wants to talk about the terrorists feelings.
to call in and ask him that question.
Noooo... I'm afraid he might YELL at me. ;>)
he does tend to do that.
I TRIPLE-dog-dare ya!!!!!
(Cross my arms with look of pure satisfaction.)
well enhanced with the visual, too.
But I double DOG-BONE dare ya to call him.
(arms akimbo, lip curled defiantly)
O'Reilly suggested that "[i]f we wage the war the way Saddam handled Iraq, then we would have already won."
I thought we did win? Did I miss something? I could have sworn I saw some clown in a flight suit prancing around on an aircraft carrier with a sign behind him that said "Mission Accomplished".
Bill O'Reilly is also a defeatist whose defeatist remarks give aid and comfort to the Islamofascist enemy. Bill must hate America and wants the terrorists to win.
AMERICA... we're number one!!!
Stop being so... uh... ironic.
Did I neglect to mention that anyone who questions why we have not won is most certainly demoralizing our troops. Why on earth does Bill O. hate our troops so much?
This is nothing new from this moron.
It shows the final transformative phase into the utter blatant nonsense of the pro-war gaggle. The phases were so subtle I don't even really know how we got here. Kind of like the frog in the gradually boiling pot.
That said, I enjoy listening to this nutjob. He actually makes me feel more secure in my own sanity in marked contrast to his.
Savage reminds me of Saddam. Both stupid, has beens.
with 8 million listeners...............
Have you noticed Iran has become more militant since Saddam has been ousted ? Wonder if the S-man was able to keep Iran stiffled thru religion ( or lack of ) crossing geo-political boundaries ?
I should qualify this by saying that I'm a wacko liberal nutcase who also thinks 9/11 was quite possibly an inside job, but seriously, I see nothing wrong with this statement.
Did you know that Savage's son is the CEO of the Rock Star energy drink? Once I found that out I quit drinking them.
Now that Saddam is gone, I can see his value. He maintained order and kept the religious nuts at bay. Speaking of, has anyone else seen where the Iranian leader wants to rid the universities of liberal professors? Sounds just like Bill O'Reilly.
In the past I had often thought it may have been a inside job. Then seeing how the current administration can do NOTHING right, that is now the furthest thing from my mind.
If 9-11 was an inside job by the Bush Administration, the Twin Towers would still be standing today. Never thought of it that way, but it makes sense.
re: the Twin Towers, this administration was on defense too, so they should have been able to outwit themselves.
This phony was telling anybody and everybody about how we needed to get Saddam before he got us, and that Iraq was a threat, and that the liberals were all undermining his beloved President Bush. Seems like Dr. Savage Weiner has now done a 180 turn now that Iraq is a mess and Bush's approval ratings are in the low thirties. This guy is a fraud. He goes with the wind. Somebody should play all those clips of him orgasming over the Iraq war back to him on the air and confront him about it. He would just hang up like the coward that he really, truly, is.
THANK YOU. njguy93@yahoo.com
I think Bush baboozled about everyone that voted for him. I can find many conservatives that ADMIT they made a mistake voting for Bush. Calling Savage a fraud is plain stupid. If you disagree, then you must feel Kerry and Hillary are as well. Afterall, they have flip flopped many times.
For the most part that is another simplistic rightwing talking point without any real merit. I dont think there is anything wrong with changing your mind when new information comes in also dont give me the stupid quip he made about I voted for it before I voted against it since his position on that issue was completely consistant, he voted for the resolution that had a way to pay for it and against the one without a way to pay for it. Bush did the same thing he supported the resolution without a way to pay for it and threatened to veto the one WITH a way to pay for it and no one accused him of flipflopping.
Is he not allowed to change his mind without ridicule?
Is he allowed to change his mind without ridicule?
He couldn't get his face out of Bush's ass when Bush's approval ratings were in the 60's and 70's. Now suddenly he is against the Iraq and he says that he feels that the Bush Administration is corrupt and immoral. It is not at all stupid to call him a fraud. It is common sense. There are many conservatives who STILL DO NOT ADMIT that they made a mistake voting for George Bush. Hillary is a fraud, at least in some ways. She tries to have it both ways. She says we should not pull out of Iraq, but then she joins Democrats in calling for Rumsfeld to resign. Kerry voted for the resolutions which gave George Bush the authority to invade Iraq AS A LAST RESORT IF INSPECTIONS WERE NOT WORKING. Before the Iraq war, Saddam had let the inspectors in, and they were doing their jobs. Bush is the one who forced them out and then attacked Iraq. In Kerry's speech on the Senate floor in October of 2002, he makes it very clear that he is voting for the resolution in order to give George Bush the AUTHORITY to invade Iraq as a LAST RESORT. Dishonest people such as yourselves like to conveniently leave that part out. By the way, it's 2006, you can stop talking about Kerry and flip-flops. You must have been one of those zombie-like people waving flip-flops in the audience at 2004 Republican National Convention in Madison Square Garden in New York City. Either that or you must have been standing in front of your television set at home waving the flip-flops and shouting "flip-flop, flip-flop." Stop covering for George Bush, and just admit what a fraud he is and how much he has messed up this country and even the world since the year 2000 or maybe even before.
THANK YOU. njguy93@yahoo.com
know a thing about me. Your perception of me being a right winger is completely off. I NEVER voted for Bush. I never believed in invading Iraq.... So, you have me all backwards. I just don not care for ultra-liberals and ultra-right wingers.
I stood in GWB's corner. SHOW ME FOOL!
because you are just a contrarian for the sake of it.
Back to Dr. Weiner.....what stage of grief do you thinks he's in now? Wink and nod to the "daily show".
