Savage claimed Dem win in midterms "could lead to the breakup of the United States of America"

On the October 13 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, The Savage Nation, Michael Savage claimed that a victory by the Democratic Party in the November midterm elections "could lead to the breakup of the United States of America, the way the Soviet Union broke up." Savage warned of the threat of Democrats regaining control of Congress while discussing the threat of immigration to the makeup of the United States, asserting that there is only "a melting pot possibility" for immigrants from Europe and that "[w]hen you start bringing in masses of immigrants from everywhere on Earth, you don't have a melting pot; they cannot be melted into an American, and that's what's going on in the country today." Savage added, "Democrats want people to vote that aren't even citizens, because they're not counting on an America that speaks English in the near future."

Later in the broadcast, while discussing California Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Savage stated: "California, unfortunately, is in the hands of the far-left homosexual mafia. They unfortunately don't even understand what's good for them." Savage added that "if the gay community ever understood what was in their interest, they'd become conservatives," but "they are also very confused, as anyone could figure out by their death-style." As Media Matters for America has documented (here, here, and here), Savage has previously referred to "the homosexual mafia" and "the homosexual death-style."

According to Talkers magazine, The Savage Nation reaches more than 8 million listeners a week, making it the talk radio show with the third largest U.S. audience, behind only The Rush Limbaugh Show and the Sean Hannity Show.

From the October 13 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: The difference, of course, is that -- and this is a huge difference, and it's hard for me to not explain it to you, but I'm sure you figured it out by now -- is that when you bring immigrants in from Europe -- whether they be Irish, whether they be Italian, whether they be English, whether they be Romanian, whether they be Czechoslovakian, whether they be Italian, whether they be Yugoslavian, whether they be German -- they're from Europe, and there is a melting pot possibility.

When you start bringing in masses of immigrants from everywhere on Earth, you don't have a melting pot; they cannot be melted into an American, and that's what's going on in the country today. We're bringing in millions of people from countries that have no compatibility with the values of Europe, not any values whatsoever. And I will argue with you as long as you want on this, if you want. There was no history of the liberation of people in China for example, to choose one nation, there was no Magna Carta, there was no evolution. There's been no Middle Ages for the Muslims coming into America.

It's insanity to be bringing in millions of people who have no Middle Ages yet, they haven't even gone through the Middle Ages. They're never going to be compatible with America. They're never going to assimilate. This is the biggest disaster in the history of this country, is to say that all people from around the world are the same; ipso facto, bring in anybody and they're all going to become an American within two generations. That's absurd. But they know that. They don't want them to become assimilated. What they want is a balkanization of America where one group is pitted against another perennially. And the ruling class also wants an illiterate America who does not fully understand what they're doing to this country. That's why they are bringing people that will never assimilate. They don't even require that they speak English.

That's why the Democrats want people to be able to vote without any ID whatsoever. That's why the Democrats want people to vote who aren't even citizens, because they're not counting on an America that speaks English in the near future. They're not counting on an America that has a citizenship requirement in the near future. My fear is that if the Democrats win, and I'm afraid that they might, you're going to see America melt down faster that you could ever imagine.

It will happen overnight, and it could lead to the breakup of the United States of America, the way the Soviet Union broke up. Because I want to remind you that if I had asked anyone listening to this show -- whether in 1980 they could've ever believed the ex-Soviet Union could have ever broken up into parts, you would've said impossible. Too powerful, too centrally controlled -- it'll never happen. This country could wind up breaking up if the Democrats take over this country and start hammering the American middle class. The country could break up at the foreparts. I'm absolutely positive this could happen.

SAVAGE: Well, Dianne Feinstein is an icon here in the Sick Bay area. They have no idea what her policies are, because she's a mystery woman. Dianne Feinstein is a mystery woman, and nobody knows what she stands for. Barbara Boxer is not a mystery woman. She stands for anything that the socialist party would stand for. Barbara Boxer is a dyed-in-the-wool, 1930s Wobbly from New York. California, unfortunately, is in the hands of the far-left homosexual mafia. They unfortunately don't even understand what's good for them. They don't understand that voting on the left side of everything is actually in their disinterest, not in their interest -- that if they gay community ever understood what's in their interest they'd become conservatives, by and large. But they are also very confused, as anyone could figure out by their death-style.

SAVAGE: But the homosexuals don't simply go to bars and have sex with each other. They are amongst the most politically active groups, if not the most politically active group or subgroup, in the population. They are extremely militant in their demands. They are extremely demanding as the school -- that the school curriculums change. They are extremely demanding in their attacks on the church. I mean, let's not turn this into something that it isn't. Now, you got people in the church who are standing up and saying, "Hell, no, we won't go."

      I agree with something he said. I lived in the Bay Area when Feinstein voted for the Iraq war resolution and castigated her for it, only to receive the canned "I'm on the Senate Intel Cmte and know more than you." Does anyone know what she stands for besides war profiteering?

      But still, the homosexual mafia controlling California? That is up there with the all-time dumbest, most bigoted things ever said. I am so glad he speaks for Republicans.

      I think this kind of trash talk just feeds the mindset who relish calamity.

      This guy does nothing to service unity, nothing to inspire hope and kinship, nothing to inspire reasons to assimilate. If anything, his message is the message of division and doomsday, an endless tirade of hopelessness and despair.

      A vicious right wing bigot, denies his heritage and wants to spoil America with hate.

      I was listening when used the word "vermin" to describe undocumented workers. He unconsciously (or consciously- even scarier) mimics the Nazis who killed his people.

      "Talking" says that 8 million + listen to his drivel weekly, I find that so hard to believe.

      I long for the time of the fairness doctrine which demanded equal time for political speech, and I wonder what can be done about the enormous amounts of money that goes to spewing this hate speech to the political advantage of the wealthy.

      Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Soviet Union broke up because a combination of Communisim and Cold War military spending (the levels of which the US is STILL at).

      But maybe he's right, mabye gay marriage broke up the USSR.

      In Savage's latest rant he claimed that a victory by the Democratic Party in the November midterm elections could lead to the breakup of the United States.

      What he actually meant to say was that if Republicans maintain majorities in both houses, it will lead to a further break-up of the United States.

      The First North American Secessionist Convention will be held in Burlington, Vermont this fall. Delegates from the Second Vermont Republic, the Hawaiian and Alaskan independence movements, the League of the South, the New State Movement, and others will be there.

      No Democrats will attend.

          We did it in 1776, remember? That was secession. Secession from the Crown. We glorify that secession, and it was caused by many of the things DC is doing today. Hawaii was a sovereign nation conquered by the US, forced into the Union against it's will. Many states could become very viable countries on their own, with populations and economies similar to the smaller European nations. Considering the criminality of the DC establishment and the two federal mafias that participate in that criminality, secession is not an unattractive option.

      Overall Savage has a good show. He's a quick wit, he's entertaining, and he has a point. You can have fun picking out one of his rants and then denouncing him, but there is more to his show.

      This site uses similiar invective and over the top comments as Savage. There is a message behind the bluster. I don't find MMFA's message very appealing.

                        I dont know why you guys think I have any emotional investment whatsoever in all this. I just amuse myself. I have to admit I misread your post. I thought you were citing what I said as pathetic. My mistake. I thought I was just responding in kind when I was ratcheting up the hostility. For that I appologize. The bottom line here is Weiner is insane. However, most people I talk to feel differently.

          Repubs, "Worker Program" - filthy slave drivers... Cons, " kick them all out! " - now that would not be fair.. Dems, " grant amnesty! " - you gotta be kidding.... Libs," All Man is created equal"... - ahh, this is the real world..

          There are two running here locally. The Dem said, "Jobs Americans Wont do"....

            Is a Conservative alright. From his tax cuts for the wealthy to his war of aggression to his environmental deregulations. His failures are Conservative failures. Conservatives don't believe that government can be effective, so how can Conservatives be expected to govern?

                  This administration is not what I associate with traditional conservativism. More like radical statists. The expansion of executive power for instance is traditionally a conservative boogeyman.This is why the term neocon was coined to differentiate them from the Paleocons like William F Buckley who has for a while been critical of this administration.I think this administation sullies the good name of conservativism. I remember when there were conservatives like John Danforth. I almost never agreed with him but he was consistant, honest and sincere. Conservatives like him or Buckley might be frustrating but they werent outright liars and charlatans like this administration.

                  I believe in political dialectic. We disagree. We state our cases, a policy evolves that might not be everything we want but in fact might be better in practice for taking the best of both sides and leaving the weaknesses inherent in both positions. That isnt happening. This administation just lies about virtually everything to get their way. Bush cant get something through Congress he just signs an executive order whether or NOT he has the authority. A law passes he doesnt like he just signs it saying he wont abide by it. Dont like fourth amendment limitations this administration just pretends he has the authority to ignore it. That isnt conservative, the con philosophy traditionally respected the rule of law. That is radical and statist, claiming new power for the executive and federal institutions.

                      I am just not that good with expressing my thoughts in writting. I grew up a musician, not a student. You could call me, A Late Bloomer.....

                      I do not have a vocabulary or history anywhere near the caliber as many that post here.

                      Now, I can learn 10 songs in a weeks time after work hours..... I do have good memory retention! And crappy spelling.

      I have a few points to make.

      1.) The only states to try to break up the US were conservative southern states. Yes, Democrats, but they were conservatives.

      2.) The hate speach by types like Savage, Hannity, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly are dividing us. It irritates me to no avail when people assign motives or ignorance to other people's oppinions rather than discuss the actual opinions.

      3.) This is a great example of self projection. The conservative pundits always talk about how the Democrats try to scare the voters into voting for them. Or that Democrats want nothing good for the country, just power.

      4.) The Declaration of Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. " I stress the ALL MEN, as in all of MAN. Yet, conservatives are fine with treating non-US citizens differently.

          Means less to me than the Constitution. The Constitution is clear on this subject. Except for voting ,rights are not exclusive to citizens. The constitution specifically and constantly uses the term PERSONS, not citizens when referring to rights. Of course not all non citizens are illegal aliens. Anyone NOT a bigot knows that.

      The USA should break up. First, gather all of his listeners, and all those who listen to Limbaugh and Hannity and O'Reilly, put them in a square state out west, build a fence around it, pipe in continuous right wing talk radio to placate the hell hounds therein, and sell tickets to watch them froth and turn red over anything they perceive as liberal.

      Call it Ronald Reagan Land. They'll like that. And if they complain about a lack of privacy, with 24 hour surveillance cameras on every street corner and in every home, tell them it's for their own protection, so the terrorists don't get them. If they still complain, ask them to point out the right to privacy Amendment, which will stop their blather immediately. (BTW: there is such an Amendment, but right wingers just don't realize it. Here's a hint. It's the one right after the 8th and before the 10th.)

          And bare their arms. As for bearing arms the Miller decision makes abundantly clear the right to bear arms is not an absolute right and the Supreme Court let stand a 7th district Court of appeals decision that allowed Morton Grove Ill. to ban handguns within its borders.

          The 1939 case U.S. v. Miller is the only modern case in which the Supreme Court has addressed this issue. A unanimous Court ruled that the Second Amendment must be interpreted as intending to guarantee the states' rights to maintain and train a militia. "In the absence of any evidence tending to show that possession or use of a shotgun having a barrel of less than 18 inches in length at this time has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia, we cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument," the Court said.

          In subsequent years, the Court has refused to address the issue. It routinely denies cert. to almost all Second Amendment cases. In 1983, for example, it let stand a 7th Circuit decision upholding an ordinance in Morton Grove, Illinois, which banned possession of handguns within its borders. The case, Quilici v. Morton Grove 695 F.2d 261 (7th Cir. 1982), cert. denied 464 U.S. 863 (1983), is considered by many to be the most important modern gun control case.

          As liberal as I am, for the most part I am with the right on the right to own firearms issues. The way I see it as long as the majority of Americans see it as a freedom issue, Americans should be allowed to own guns. That is not an absolute and limitless right. Cities can democratically limit it. I also support common sense restrictions, I dont think everyone has a right to a bazooka. The limits are in my eyes to be arrived at in democratic fassion

          San Fransisco has a right to democratically decide this issue.

          Notice the second amendment says, a well regulated Militia being necessary, there are no such qualifiers to the right to free speech, free press, petition or assembly. Obviously the framers didnt see this right to be as unlimited in scope as those larger ones or they just would have added it to the first amendment.
