Morgan appeared to deny American Mourning is "a Cindy Sheehan talk-trash book" -- but the book accuses Sheehan of Internet porn addiction

On the October 18 edition of his CNN Headline News program, Glenn Beck asked radio host Melanie Morgan, co-author of American Mourning: The Intimate Story of Two Families Joined by War, Torn by Beliefs (WND Books, October 2006), whether the book is a "Cindy Sheehan talk-trash book. Because, honestly, I've heard so much -- is there anything new about Cindy Sheehan that I don't already know?" Sheehan is an anti-war activist whose son was killed in Iraq. Morgan responded that "there's a lot of new things in there," but then contradicted herself, asserting: "Well, not a lot. I mean, this isn't about Cindy Sheehan." But as Media Matters for America noted, while American Mourning is purportedly a biography of two families who lost soldiers in Iraq, including the family of Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, Morgan and co-author Catherine Moy assert in the book that, following Casey's death in Iraq in April 2004, "Cindy had become addicted to online chat rooms of a pornographic nature" and "eventually had physical rendezvous as well." As Media Matters further noted, on the October 16 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, Morgan, Moy, and co-host Sean Hannity compared Sheehan's purported interest in online pornography to sexually explicit instant messages former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) allegedly sent to underage congressional pages.

Morgan, who is the chairman of the conservative organization Move America Forward (MAF), helped organize MAF's You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy" Tour in August 2005.

From the October 18 edition of CNN Headline News' Glenn Beck:

BECK: OK. So, do the families know each other?

MORGAN: No, they don't. Jan Johnson actually emailed to Cindy Sheehan and tried to communicate with her after the death of their sons, but Cindy Sheehan refused to return any email from her.

BECK: So, this is not a Cindy Sheehan talk-trash book? Because, I, honestly, I've heard so much -- is there anything new about Cindy Sheehan that I don't already know?

MORGAN: Oh, there's a lot of new things in there. Well, not a lot. I mean, this isn't about Cindy Sheehan.

Her hate toward Cindy a women who has sacrficed more than any of us is an outrage. Why is she being given air time to sell her hate filled book?

Because it sell lies and hatred of the anti-war movement to the Crusaders. And keeping the American public firmly behind the war crimes is all that matters in Crusader-land.

Morgan is on Hardball tomorrow I wrote the producers but I'm doubt it will impact the interview. Here is the letter. Hardball -MSNBC Roland Woerner, producer Mamta Trivedi, producer

      Dear Roland and Mamta:

Monday on the Sean Hannity's show in New York, Morgan and Moy said that Sheehan had an addiction to on-line p*rn and that she had multiple affairs that destroyed her marriage. (Audio Clip)

In the first half of the interview they talk about how Cindy was funded by John Kerry. (audio clip 9:30 )

If Morgan and Moy are going to treat Sheehan like a political operative shouldn't journalists treat Morgan and Moy like someone spreading opposition dirt and question the motives and credibility of the mud slingers?

Sean Hannity "questioned" their claim about the p*rn but they say they have proof. Knowing Morgan's propensity to spin things and split hairs it should be DEFINED what she is talking about (one person's pr*n is another's joking IM chat) and question the motives of the people providing this "proof." Then when THOSE questions are answered, maybe the character of the person leveling accusations should be questioned.

Sheehan was able to survive the right wing shouters on AM radio because they had just barely enough decency to not trash her personal life. Well now Morgan, talking a cue from her good friend Ann Coulter, has decided that even that decency was too much. Morgan explains away the dirt digging with the excuse of "we dug in the other family's background too!" as if their self selected comparison was a noble thing.

Morgan clearly thinks that the left admires Sheehan because she is a saint, not because she was courageous standing up to the President for this un-necessary war. Martin Luther King Jr. wasn't a saint either, J. Edgar Hoover would be proud of Morgan and Moy's "journalism" work.

Morgan may try and assume the air of a journalist just trying to "tell the story of these two families" but if you listen to the comments of her and her co-hosts you know any kind of journalistic integrity went out the window years ago in the quest for ratings. If you want audio clips of her and her radio hosts mocking Cindy, I'd be happy to provide them (from my educational archive) Here is one where she pretends to be Cindy talking to Mr. Rockwell (audio link). "I want more of your fascist, homophobic, hot monkey love." Notice how she would be embarrassed if her journalist friends heard her say this. Why? Because Morgan is NOT a journalist anymore even though she tries to pretend she still is one.

I also have audio clips of Morgan: --laughing with Ann Coulter about executing Bill Keller (link 14 minute clip comment in first 2.)

--agreeing with Peter Mulhern who said, "A great deal of good could be done by arresting Bill Keller having him lined up against the wall and shot." (link 2:11 clip comment at 1:24)

--joking with "Officer Vic" as he imitates Bill Keller being electrocuted (link 2:31 clip comment 1:58)

--laughing at Ann Coulter's comment about the death of UN Peacekeepers (link 1:07 clip comment :45)

--slandering the LA Times photographers (link)

--joking about killing a black man after torturing him.(link 2:30 clip comment 1:33.) (This clip has co-host Lee Rogers talking about shooting a black man between the eyes and torturing him by attaching electrodes to his testicles while Morgan laughs.)

When someone else jokes about killing and torturing someone, does their laughter count as agreement? When Morgan DOES NOT denounce a horrific comment on the air, but laughs at it, what does that say about her? Does that make her a fitting guest to pass judgment on the lives of others? Does that make her a "good journalist"? (Most recently Morgan and her co-hosts mocked Sheehan's hunger fast. They joked about how it was a rolling fast and that she didn't really fast at all but was going to gain weight. They didn't stop even after Sheehan passed out during the fast.)

Morgan, although a former journalist, has no need to be factual in her book, but she will try to use her former journalist credibility to back up her claims about Ms. Sheehan in the book. In fact she boasted about it on your show.

Morgan mocks Cindy as "Mother Sheehan" and thinks that the left is holding her up as a perfect human being. This is interesting because the divorced Morgan has admitted her gambling problem which lead to an incident where her step son hit her baby after she left him to go gambling. In this puff piece in the SF Chronicle Morgan said that the family self-reported the incident to Child Protective Services. (note: I wonder if she self reported that she self reported the incident?) The Chronicle reporter was especially nice in describing this incident interviewing a doctor who described her as an "action-seeking gambler" (which sounds so much better than a woman who "dumped her baby with her baby-beating stepson to go gambling") . So consider the background of this critic of Cindy and the hypocriticalnature of her giving advice to Cindy on how she should live HER life and respond to the death of HER son.

Morgan didn't protect her son as a baby, because she was too busy gambling, now she is telling the world that Cindy's response to the death of her adult son in Bush's unnecessary war is inappropriate!

Morgan as the "moral' scold is also strange. She probably also won't acknowledge her horrific comments about the KIND of punishment Bill Keller and the editors from the LA Times, Washington Post and the WSJ should get as documented by Greg Sargent. When Sargent asked her if she really meant what she said about the editors and dying she replied:

Do you think I actually CARE if he or she goes slowly, banging away on the prison bars or is extinguished immediately? The answer is NO. I DO NOT CARE.

However, the best solution that I can think of to deal with any newspaper editor, whether it's from the NY Times, LAT, WaPo, or the Wall Street Journal who is responsible for leaking national security classified information, is to be locked in a steel cage with the family members of slain troop members who would happily deliver the ultimate punishment of death. And then sent to the hottest corner of hell. (Emphasis added.)

But people won't quote what she said to Sargent, or the horrific things she said on the radio, just in the SF Chronicle so she will most likely get away with her version of what she said, especially because Sean Hannity never asks tough question of people on his side. We know that Sean doesn't play Hardball, but will Chris Matthews give Morgan softballs?

        Sincerely, Spocko

At least with Coulter, she' s just playing a character to sell books. This lady is a true bleiever and truly pathetic. I'd like to see her spin this type of crap on a real news show like the Daily Show or Real Time with Bill Maher. She'd be eaten alive.

I'm sad for Cindy, but I'm frightened for America.

When did we fall to our knees this way to worship this kind of filth?

The perfect Republican witness, the internet porn site! You don't have to worry about it coming out of the closet to set the record straight and she can flog this horse perpetually and Cindy can only say the obvious, it's crazy!

I'm writing a book about Melanie Morgan. There isn't a lick of truth to it, but who cares? Anybody want to give me some suggestions on things to add? The juicier the lies, the better.

Oh, there will be a lot of new things in there. Well, not a lot. I mean, the book isn't about Melanie Morgan.

Ok, I'm coming out of my closet to say that the female bloviators like Morgan, Malkin, Ingraham are hot, and I have these most naughty fantasies about them.

Not Ann Coulter, she scares me. Sex seems like the chain saw covered in blood scarry to me?

There! I said it! I'm so ashamed, I'm going to take a shower now.

If Cindy Sheehan was addicted to porn. That's her business, and she's not holding herself up as some kind of "family values" champion. The fact that these flying monkeys actually think it's an issue shows just how pathetic and desperate they have become.
