Morris "leaving the country" if Clinton-Obama ticket wins

On the December 18 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, guest host Karen Hanretty asked Fox News political analyst Dick Morris if he was "proposing a ticket of [Sen.] Hillary Clinton [D-NY], [Sen.] Barack Obama [D-IL]," for the Democratic presidential nomination, to which Morris replied: "I'm not proposing it. I'm leaving the country if this happens." Morris added, "I do not want Hillary Clinton controlling the FBI and the IRS and the CIA and the DEA." When co-host Alan Colmes later asked Morris if he was "really going to leave" should Clinton win, Morris said, "I hope not to have to make that choice." The weblog News Hounds posted Morris' comments on December 19, and they were later noted by NewsMax.com, Salon.com, and other media outlets.*

From the December 18 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes:

HANRETTY: So what you're proposing is a ticket of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama. And you think that America is ready for not only the first female president of the United States, but for a black man to be president and next in line?

MORRIS: Well, first of all, I'm not proposing it. I'm leaving the country if this happens.

COLMES: Oh, come on. You promise?

HANRETTY: You're going to pull an Alec Baldwin on us, Dick?

COLMES: We've got it on tape now.

MORRIS: You guys can do this from Peru, right? I do not want Hillary Clinton controlling the FBI and the IRS and the CIA and the DEA.

HANRETTY: Do you want Barack Obama as a vice president? Do you even want him as president?

MORRIS: No, I think Obama would be a good vice president. I think it would give him seasoning, and I think he's got a lot of potential. But what's going to happen is Hillary will win the Democratic nomination. That will force the Republicans to run a woman on their ticket. And the best one they have is [Secretary of State] Condi [Rice]. If the Republicans are going to put a black on their ticket for second place, the Democrats can't let the only black be on the Republican line. So they're going to put Obama on.

HANRETTY: You think the Republicans are going to be satisfied putting someone from the Bush administration responsible for the war in Iraq on their ticket?

MORRIS: Well, when they did that likeability index poll, she came in, like, second or third. She's over 60 percent favorable.

COLMES: We've got to run. But, Dick, you're really going to leave the country if Hillary wins? Are you really going to leave?

MORRIS: I hope not to have to make that choice.

COLMES: You know, when liberals said that about Bush, you wanted to hold them to it. Well, thank you very much for being here.

MORRIS: Yeah, but I'm going to be chased out of the country.

COLMES: I doubt it.

IF GWB MAKES THE CORRECTION IN HIS IRAQ WAR THAT THE VOTER HAVE CALLED FOR: - - - I will fly out of the country on the first available flight and when I'm done celebrating I'll return home. Just kidding.

But when we vote there should be some touch screen options for us to select that indicate our objective. Bush's take on the elections is that we want him to stay and convert the all the region into new Democracies.

Voter's did not vote on a change in war. There was nothing on any ballot that was before voters to change anything in Iraq, Afghanistan, or the War on Terror. People voted for individual candidates in their home districts whom they thought would represent their interest better. Was Iraq a major election issue, yes. But it was not the only one.

but that didn't stop wingnuts here and all over from proclaiming those results (barely a majority, 51% at most) as a landslide vote in favor of the war, did it?

Voter's did not vote on a change in war. ... Was Iraq a major election issue, yes.

So it was a major issue but had nothing to do with the outcome. Hmmm.

Actually, by the logic presented, only referenda and the like are "about" anything at all and no candidate is ever elected on the strength of any issue, even a "major" one.

Time to rewrite all the civics textbooks, eh?

It wasn't just the Iraq War debacle. While that was a HUGE reason why people reelected every running Democratic incumbant, and voted out a bunch of Republican war mongers, there were other reasons than the war to vote Republicans out:

            1) General incompetence. The war, Katrina, social security "reform", etc. 2) Hypocracy. Witness the corruption of a Delay House. Foley. Republicans going to jail. And a policy of talking out of both sides of Republican mouths to Christians. 3) Stubborness. The war and other policies. These guys never observed the first rule of holes. 4) Tax cuts for those who need 'em least.

But I think for the most part, people realized they were tired of hearing about people dying for reasons that made no sense.

Are you really insane or is that just part of your handle. Just kidding.

All I was saying is there should be options to select when we vote. That way we could indicate our objectives. Such as, what we, the deciders want done about the mess in Iraq.

I have not been addressed as Sir in a long time. Back in my past life in Texas. When I, by force of habit, address people here in CA. as Sir, they are offended that I'm saying they are old. I explain to them that it's just out of respect when I call them Sir. It's a Texas thing.

You SIR may be RIGHT......But I really doubt it. All the indicators and sources of credible info point to the War In Iraq as being the driving force of the November elections.

Fact is, the day after the thumping of your President, he fired his Secretary of War. That was a timely "Change in War"and it WAS due to the voters? Bush admitted he was Thumped by the voters and started to make changes. Today he’s still pondering changes, but he took the thumping and conveniently decided that it says for him to continue forcing Democracy’s on the Region, as he calls it. WRONG!

Because of the The Voters Bush is under intense pressure to make changes on his War in Iraq. Bush can see it. I can see it. Why are you in denial?

I know.....Why don't we just agree to disagree. But you seem to be the one that is wrong......Sir, not I.

"Alec Baldwin insists he never said that he would leave the country if George W. Bush were elected president. The German magazine Focus insists that his wife, Kim Basinger, said in an interview that Baldwin did utter such a promise." --snopes.com

            ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Because Baldwin argues he never said such a thing, it is misinformation to present hearsay (maybe double hearsay) as a hardened fact.

This appears to be another example of "truthiness" that conservatives have decided is absolutely true, when there is room for doubt in a fair-minded analysis.

Of course, there are other celebrities that snopes cites (same reference above) that have made their views much more plain for what that is worth.

I do not object to Morris's "threat" at all. It appears that if he left the country, it would definitely be mutually beneficial.

When I heard Morris made this statement I rushed to the WebPage to see if he was for real and serious about it. To my chagrin, he was just kidding with a huge smile. Oh well.

is why does the Corporate Media still give airtime to this discredited toe-sucking, whoring gas-bag? What's even more disturbing is that many right leaning newspapers (at least in Indiana and Kentucky) still run his column under the heading "From the Left" and advertise that he was an adviser to President Clinton. I worked for a press-clip agency and have read every paper in both states, so I'm not making this up.

Oh joy. The corporate media is already pushing it's choice for the Democrat nominees...Hillary "Keep the War Going" Clinton and Barack "Senator Slither" Obama.

Hillary is the darling of the DLC, the right wing of the Democrats, an ardent supporter of US funding of the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians, the most pro-war Democrat in the Senate. A war-monger who supports unprovoked US airstrikes on Iran. Cindy Sheehan refused to endorse Hillary in 2006 (she endorsed the NY Green candidate instead). The Repub PR machine is gonna paint her as the top liberal in the Senate, but a look at her voting record and you'd swear she's a Republican.

Then there's that other pre-packaged plastic politician. Little quote from Mr. Obama regarding his views on the US relationship with the world: "We need to maintain a strategic force posture that allows us to manage threats posed by rogue nations like North Korea and Iran, and to meet the challenges presented by potential rivals like China." Conclusion? Another typical DC warmonger who waves these phony threats at us for his masters in the Military/Industrial Complex and has no intention of living in actual peace with the rest of the world. He also supports bombing Iran without any provocation on their part. Liberal? Hardly. His answer to Iraq? More troops, more money. He distanced himself from Senator Durbin when that man spoke out against the tortures committed at Guantanamo.

This is what the corporate media and the Repubs are gonna sell you as the "horrible Democrat ultra-liberals the Republicans must hate"...they're both as conservative as Republicans but to admit that would have the Democrat voters out looking for REAL liberals and not the chosen of the corporate War Party.

It's all a con job. They're feeding those same two flavors of Kool-Aid to the masses again.

        Then they dumped him...

Who in their right mind would ever purchase a book about Hill vs Condi? Did he actually sell ANY copies?
