Olbermann bestowed "Worst Person" honors on conservative media figures for attack on Clinton

On the January 24 edition of MSNBC's Countdown, host Keith Olbermann honored the "yakkers of the irrational right" with his "Worst Person in the World" award for hyping a discredited post on the NewsBusters weblog that baselessly suggested Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) had recorded the video announcing her presidential bid months ago. The "yakkers of the irrational right" included CNN Headline News' Glenn Beck, radio hosts Neal Boortz and Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News hosts Steve Doocy and Sean Hannity.

As Media Matters for America noted, NewsBusters updated the post to suggest that its original speculation about when Clinton taped the announcement was baseless, and Newsday reported that Clinton had filmed the video the previous week at her home in Washington, D.C.

Nevertheless, Beck, Boortz, Limbaugh, Doocy, and Hannity all touted the allegation that the announcement had been filmed earlier to suggest, in Olbermann's words, that Clinton "was guilty of media manipulation."

From the January 24 edition of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann:

OLBERMANN: But our winners: a tie among the yakkers of the irrational right, Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, Steve Doocy, Sean Hannity, and comedian Rush Limbaugh. Each announced that Senator Clinton's online campaign announcement had to have been recorded months ago because you could see some green on the trees in the background and she, thus, was guilty of media manipulation. Their source, apparently, the infamous wacky website NewsBusters.

As National Public Radio's Juan Williams pointed out on Fox Noise, the senator taped the statement last week at her home here in Washington, near Rock Creek Park, which, believe it or not, is still a little green. A little green, like Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, Steve Doocy, Sean Hannity, and comedian Rush Limbaugh, today's "Worst Persons in the World."

        You don't understand.

These guys are just misunderstood, taken out of context, the target of the liberal media, misquoted...blah blah blah.  Did I miss anything?

They're just nice Real Americans...except for Limbaugh who has the comedian thing going for him.

What really gets under my skin are clowns like Doocy and Beck who claim to be objective, or someone who is critical of all sides, like Beck does.  Do you think Steve Doocy actually believes that anyone else besides the braindead troglodyte zombies actually believes that he and those other two losers that co-host the morning show on FOX NEWS CHANNEL with him are actually legitimate newspeople doing a legitimate news show?

      THANK YOU.

            Well put, Tommy.

And, of course, your infatuation with trying to derail threads with the "where's the misinformation?" canard is clear to anyone who wishes to see it.

If you think that anyone here is actually infatuated with you, you're raising delusion to new heights.

If you think that I am capable of derailing an entire thread all by myself, and this is something you are even thinking about - well,  perhaps your heightened delusions are fueled by your infatuation of me as well.

Beck, Boortz, Doocy, Hannity and Limbaugh are commenting on evidence of global warming, something they ridicule, because it's still green in January. Beck, particularly, has s--t for brains.  The rest of them are simple yaking fools.

"This guy Olberman is NOT funny"...by Goodfella57

        =====

Actually Olbermann is funny, insightful, intelligent & honest [a scarce commodity these days among TV commentators]

I'm a Keith Olbermann convert. It's a 180 degree turn for me. I didn't like him on ESPN, or early on when I first checked him out on MSNBC. I watched O'Reilly. Had been a Billy-Boy viewer since Sept 2001. I thought O'Reilly was great. Fair & Balanced. Was really looking out "for the folks". But as time went on O'Reilly became shrill & SO biased even I, as a Republican/Conservative was embarrassed by his ranting.

I began tuning into Olbermann as an alternative. The guy grew on me. Basically because of the *reasons* I stated above.

          Right on Jeter.

I have watched Olberman only for a few weeks now, but I think that the man actually calls it like it is really happening, not just as he sees it. I've seen him work with Matthews and others during commentary on the SOTU and Bush's escalation, oops, I mean, "surge" speech the week before, and Olberman was the one making all of the good arguments, all of the good commentary, while the others, Russert included, were sort of left behind. I do like Olberman, he's pretty good as a news guy.

            Hey Magnolia,

The thing I like MOST about Olbermann is that he's a straight shooter. I don't think there's any Liberal bias on his part, just honesty.

I watched MSNBC on election night, Matthews & Olbermann made a great team...and my opinion about Keith became more positive.

I was getting so sick of O'Reilly, so since I watched Hardball every night I just left it on MSNBC and let it drift into Countdown. Like I wrote earlier Olbermann began to grow on me. I'm hoping this guy gets a wider audience--he's too good to be missed!

The unseasonably warm winter back east has caused the price of crude to go down, due to the lowered demand for home healting oil.  I truly believe, if we have two or three more winters like this, you are going to hear all these people who deny global warming suddenly screaming about global warming and wanting to know what in the hell is being done about it.  Why?  I say, follow the money.  The folks who scream the loudest that there is no global warming are usually making their money from oil in some way or another.  I was back in NE Ohio in early January...no snow, didn't even put on a scarf or wear gloves.  I lived there years ago and couldn't believe it.  Yeah, I believe that there were green trees behind Hillary.  I also believe that she made that recording recently.
