KSFO's Rodgers: Left-wing websites are "full of bovine excrement"

On the January 25 edition of KSFO's Morning Show, hosts Melanie Morgan and Lee Rodgers continued their discussion of a debunked accusation, first made by InsightMag.com, that "researchers connected to" Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) have said that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) "spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia." Rodgers acknowledged that the story had been "discredited" by CNN but in turn purported to discredit CNN by claiming that the network is "the propaganda mouthpiece for the political left. They're the Democratic Party's Al Jazeera." Morgan then said that "certain left-wing websites seem to believe that they can fit the facts to their agenda, and their agenda is to destroy us personally and to get us fired and thrown off the air." Rodgers added that the "left-wing websites" are "full of bovine excrement" and they "lie in their teeth just for the fun of it," to which Morgan replied, "Exactly."

As Media Matters for America has noted, Morgan previously wrote a column in which she linked to a Media Matters item and complained about "liberal bloggers [trying] to get me fired." On the air, Morgan has also read portions of a letter from Media Matters President and CEO David Brock in which Brock implored KSFO's owner, ABC/Disney, to stop airing violent rhetoric and racist fearmongering. Morgan then attacked "the hate from David Brock at Media Matters" and warned that she and her co-hosts "would not be intimidated by your thuggish tactics."

Rodgers and Morgan referred to the CNN debunking, but they could have also noted that the Associated Press, in a January 24 article, found that the school Obama attended in Jakarta is "a public and secular institution that has been open to students of all faiths since before the White House hopeful attended in the late 1960s." Similarly, ABC News national correspondent Jake Tapper referred to the InsightMag.com article on January 25 as "since-discredited," noting that InsightMag.com "cited [only] unnamed sources." Tapper also noted that, since the article's publication, media figures have "repeat[ed] the false charges" against Obama "while bemoaning the notion that the Clinton campaign was investigating Obama's past, a charge that remains unproven and unsubstantiated."

During the segment, Rodgers also stated: "[I]f you are the offspring of a Muslim father, according to Islamic law, you're a Muslim for life. That's what the Quran says." Rodgers has previously made similar statements.

Morgan and Rodgers were among the first to spread the smear against Obama and Clinton on their January 19 program. Their baseless accusations continued on January 23 when Morgan added a new, equally baseless accusation that the story came from the campaign of former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC).

From the January 25 edition of KSFO's Morning Show:

RODGERS: I'm not going to mention any names because I don't want to give them any more publicity, but Mel called to my attention one of these left-wing bloggers she was talking about, who seemed to be upset because we have said some things they interpreted as being unpleasant toward the world's largest Muslim nation population-wise. That would be Indonesia. And did this thing about "Indonesia, it's a -- they're a tolerant form of Islam, blah, blah, blah." This is the Indonesia where these guys blew up over 200 tourists, mostly Australian, a few years ago on Bali, which is part of Indonesia, and where they got a slap on the wrist for doing it. The guy who dreamed up the whole thing is already out of prison, and he was laughing and joking at his trial because he knew nothing was going to happen to him under the Indonesian government. This is where Muslim mobs regularly murder Christians -- have just recently beheaded some Christian schoolchildren. Oh yeah, this is tolerant Islam. And they quoted as their source for, quote, "discrediting" the Insight magazine about the Indonesian school that Barack Obama attended, saying that --

CNN had discredited the story. Excuse me, this would be the CNN that admitted lying about by omission and covering up for Saddam Hussein for years so they could keep their little office open in Iraq. Now, if you invest any credibility in CNN, you're a dope, because the reason the left loves them is, they're the propaganda mouthpiece for the political left. They're the Democratic Party's Al Jazeera. So, I find myself unconvinced by that argument. I don't know about the school; I didn't go over there, one way or another. But they also ridicule the idea that, if you are the offspring of a Muslim father, according to Islamic law, you're a Muslim for life. That's what the Quran says. You are a Muslim for life. It is not optional. You can't renounce it as far as they're concerned, so it doesn't make any difference what you say.

MORGAN: Well, the fact --

RODGERS: If daddy was a Muslim, whether he was a practicing Muslim or hadn't for generations, makes no bleeping difference, under --

OFFICER VIC: The Quran.

RODGERS: -- under Islamic law, sharia, yeah.

MORGAN: Well, they seem to, at certain left-wing websites, seem to believe that they can fit the facts for their agenda, and their agenda is to destroy us personally and to get us fired and thrown off the air, so --

RODGERS: Well, they're full of bovine excrement and I don't mind saying so, and we're not going to let them permit it. So if you read any of that crap, just remember, these people lie in their teeth just for the fun of it.

MORGAN: Exactly.

        Spot-on right, "LaughingLefty."

Besides: "Bovine excrement" is an obvious broadcast euphemism for a cruder word that, in "normal" circumstances, would be grounds for a station's licence being revoked; remember, Federal law proscribes the broadcast of obscene or indecent language.

How do we know that the conservative propaganda machine isn't setting up the Great Unwashed for the kill--as in letting slip one of the Seven Dirty Words on air in service to the Greater Glory of Conservatism, and getting away with it because of "connexions"?

Heh, to these folks, any network that dares to report something that conflicts with how they want the world to be is a mouthpiece for the left.

And I love how they try to defend the "Obama is a Muslim" claim from this mouthpiece by saying that Islamic law regards anyone with Muslim father to be a Muslim, even apostates.  Even if that's true, who cares?  Is that what they believe?  These idiot talk show hosts?  Is that the logic they think we should use?  Jewish law regards anyone who has a Jewish mother as Jewish (which makes me wonder how one knows whether the mother is Jewish in the first place, but I digress).   I suppose these radio hosts figure that Jewish people who convert to Islam are still Jewish, and they certainly wouldn't accept a Jew who converts to Christianity, right?

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure Hitler considered you Jewish even if you renounced your religion.  That sounds quite comparable to how they regard Obama.

I think it is important that ALL liberals receive Ear Transplants because none of them seem to be working correctly. When Melanie says something stupid (talks) and a liberal hears it, it isn't really heard. The liberal ear needs corrected or fine-tuned. When Melanie says"...that they can fit the facts for their agenda..." a liberal hears exactly the same...Therefore, using Con logic, Melanie's mouth needs a transplant. I suggest a muscle from her a@@ be transplanted---sorry, that was already done.

If her husband wasn't program director at KSFO, Melanie Morgan would just be another inflatable doll.

We need conservatives like these to remind the rest of us that one of the prices of freedom is constant vigilance against those who would sell it if the price is right, or give it away if they had to fight for it. I believe that one of the main reasons why these cons never understood the whole "insurgency" thing is that, if an aggressor ever occupied this country, such people wouldn't resist, they would collaborate to save their own butts, and so they thought the Iraqis would do likewise. They couldn't conceive of people actually resisting an occupier because they wouldn't do it themselves, and they know nothing of history. As J.R.R. Tolkien observed, "The treacherous are ever distrustful" because they think other people are just like them.

Linking this madrassa smear to Clinton was a very calculated move by the people who made up the story in the first place.By turning it into a debate about whether or not it came from the Clinton camp, they smear all involved, and they also get a debunked story repeated all over the mainstream media.

The headline becomes, "Did Hillary try to smear Obama" instead of "Does the madrassa story have any truth at all". Smear two birds with one stone, and distract people from the fact that it has zero truth to it.

Welcome to Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood of Make Believe

Rodgers also stated: "[I]f you are the offspring of a Muslim father, according to Islamic law, you're a Muslim for life. That's what the Quran says."

Well, I took a quick look at a searchable Quran, and read every reference to "Muslim," "father," "forever," and "always," and could find nothing to match Rodgers' statement.  I'm sure this was just a slip, and that we can trust that some day he'll actually produce the exact verse (snicker).

By the way, has anyone approached Dr. Falwell to point out that Liberty University's theological seminary president (Dr. Ergun Caner) is not a Christian at all, but actually a Muslim, since he was one in childhood?  Scary, huh?

I am not a spokesperson for Rogers, but perhaps Rogers was referring to this quote:

"Indeed the religion before Allah is Islam" . . . "Whoever wishes for a way of life other that Islam, never will it be accepted from them and in the hereafter they will be amongst the losers" (Surah Al Imraan 3:85).

I applaud your effort looking through the Quran, but like many religions, the accepted venacular for a a particular law or precept may use words different from the sacred writings. Just because you cannot find it in a search does not mean it does not exist.

Oh Just one other small point. In your post, in order to make your point, you projected the quote by Rogers  regarding Islam to Christianity.

Christianity does not say you are a Muslim for life. On the contrary, Christianity accepts converts at any time during life.   So rest assured, there is nothing to fear regarding Dr. Ergun Caner's conversion.  :-)

You assume that because you know if they actually 'heard' you that's what the owners would likely want to do. BJOBOTTS, Trying to get their sponsors and owners to hear what they are saying is an excellent idea.  They are probably the worst, but when i checked yesterday both Hannity and John Gibson still had the smear on their websites.  I sent polite emails to a couple of the sponsors of the ads that rolled by telling them that the slur had been not only debunked, but had been condemned by religious leaders National Council of Churches press release with Protestant, catholic, Jewish and Muslim signatures.

Ad agencies roll ads though these sites, so the sponsors may not know what they are sponsoring unless they get lots of complaint letters, calls or emails.  As a consumer, I have the right not to purchase from a company that sponsors Morgan et al.'s hate speech, and in fairness, it's only polite that I tell the sponsor why I won't purchase their product.
