On January 29, KSFO Morning Show conservative radio host Melanie Morgan called Media Matters for America a "left-wing crackpot organization" and said "you can count on the fact that the cretins over at Media Matters ... will be taping us."

Media Matters has documented multiple examples of smears and falsehoods by Morgan and others on KSFO's Morning Show. Most recently, on January 23, Morgan repeated the discredited smear that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) attended a madrassa and added a new, equally baseless accusation that the story came from the campaign of former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC).

From the January 29 edition of KSFO's Morning Show:

MORGAN: Oh, my goodness, we have so much to talk about this morning. I just want to remind everybody that since the combination this morning is Brian Sussman, myself, and Officer Vic, you can count on the fact that the cretins over at Media Matters and some of the other Vulcan spotters will be taping us and replaying -- if you miss anything this morning, the good news is that you'll be able to go to the left-wing crackpot organization called MediaMatters.org and find anything that we say completely out of context.

So, just, you know, don't worry about things. If you have to, you know, run off to school or to work and you want a replay, or you want a transcript, we'll all be there, I'm certain, this morning, so -- just thought I'd let you know.

Morgan is a low-level hack. The 'controversy' (such as it was) is over. They liked the attention and now are trying to stoke the fire. Lame. The old question pops up... who's this benefiting?

Strange, when I looked up "Cretin", there's a picture of Melanie Morgan...   :-0

Seriously, Melanie, if you don't want to be held accountable (a word missing from the Right Wing Lexicon for the last six years) for the words you say, then don't say them.

I love the way she plugs this site and gives the exact site.  Perhaps, we can hope at least one, of her listeners will come over here and start reading it and then say "no s----"  "I'll be d----"  "I didn't know that".   and then he'll tell his friends.  and then they'll tell their friends.  ad nauseum ad infinitim.  and pretty soon, the whole population of the U.S. will realize that for the last 6 years they've been listening to garbage and being lied to, and the right wing media will be no longer.

      Things have changed?

In MY day, cretins were unable to operate complex machinery, let alone generate transcripts. Perhaps a second round of "crackpot" would violate the hate-speech code, even though a far more suitable insult? Or rely on old standbys such as "hippie", "liberal", "pinko", "commie" to fulfill the quota?

I have never, in almost 3 years of daily reading, ever seen anyone quoted on MMFA without full context. In fact, ALL of the prominent liberal blogs link to official transcripts whenever possible; otherwise they provide a full transcript of the conversation in question, either in the story itself, or as a link.

      Always.

Say whatever you want about MMFA, but you absolutely cannot play the "out of context" card here and expect to be taken seriously.

Morgan is a liar, and that's all there is to it. The context is always there and it doesn't help your case at all, Melanie. And that's what pisses you off.

You got that right, DEEZNUTS. She IS a liar. A few weeks ago, when this skeevoza did her special show that was "dedicated" to the "campaign" against her, I e-mailed in (I have dialup) and called her to task about the "halfrican" comments, the death threat her lackey Rodgers made against Rachel Carson and a little jab at her saying that is she was on in South Florida, Neil Rogers would KILL her in the ratings (just like he does to Oxy-Boy Rush). She reads my e-mail and prefaces it by saying how I "hate (her) guts". She only reads the part about Rachel  Carson and Rodgers comes in and says that he was just kidding (like Ann Coulter was, right?) but that Rachel Carson killed people by getting DDT banned and she is a murderer in her own way. Naturally, they just cherry-picked.

If Morgan is reading this; IF YOU WERE IN SOUTH FLORIDA, NEIL ROGERS WOULD KILL YOU IN THE RATINGS! GO AHEAD AND SAY HOW I HATE YOUR CUTS! I NEED THE PUBLICITY!

What's your solution to the problem of bigots and hatemongers on conservative radio?

We've already established long ago our solution.  Let people know what these people really are saying and then try to get as many people as possible to avoid listening or inform the sponsers of the rhetoric that these people espouse.

Don't show up trying to rabble rouse and then take the high road by saying "Where's your solution?" Especially if you aren't going to put forth one of your own.

When you pick out some mistakes by a radio host, then commence to call them a liar, this does not win you any converts.

Using the terms "bigot" and "hatemonger" to describe conservative talk shows is not accurate.  It is more a reflection of how you view the world.

"... Let people know what these people REALLY are saying..."

People can figure things out for themselves.  We don't need a secular liberal priesthood to interrpret.

"... get as many people as possible to avoid listening or inform the sponsers..."

I find this a bit odious and a negative approach, but I guess you have some people to fund this activity.  My point was that you need some liberal talk shows people can turn to as an alternative.

No we dont. Different venues appeal to different kinds of people it appears liberals are not attracted to talk radio. The type of conservative that only wants to get his propaganda parrot talking points and be told what to think are and they arent liberals. Since MMFA usually links to the transcripts they ARE showing what these rabid hatemongers are saying. THAT is what makes them mad. Hatemonger is an accurate description of someone like Savage who advocates killing one hundred million Muslims or Coulter who advocates murdering a Supreme Court Justice, or assasinating President Clinton beating liberals with baseball bats and dropping daisy cutters at random in the middle east. Apparantly hatemongers attract an audience. So did Hitlers speeches. So does Spongebob. My opinion is the spongebob crowd is much the intellectually superior

That is why YOU usually get insults as that is all your cheap baseless assertions and mischaracterizations deserve. Raise the level of your game if you have what it takes and you will see substance. 1. Do you believe the Bible's depiction of creation is factually, historically and scientifically correct? Should it be taught in schools?

        2. Do you believe that evolution is not only false but that it is satanically inspired?

3.Do you believe that man roamed the earth with dinosaurs? That donosaurs did not live millions of years ago because the earth is only a few thousand years old? Should that be taught in school?

        4. Do you believe that America should be governed according to the teachings of the bible? Do you believe it is the obligation of Christians to make that happen?

But frankly, their mantra is getting old and it is so easy to catch on to their lies.  They also have no guts to take it.  They dish out hatefulness but when confronted with their made up crap, their system is to attack the messenger.  Soooo, again keep it up David and crew.  The country is sorely in need of truth-tellers like your group. Their context is an artificially-created, bizarro reality that bears no resemblance to what is actually happening in life. They hate it when you apply what they say to actual reality... it makes them look foolish. And they think it's unfair taht not everyone buys into their bizarro reality.

I think she is accusing you of using 'audioshop' when replicating her comments. You probably failed to include the 5 second fair and balanced disclaimer before her 1 hour rant.

Hey Mel, its pretty hard to take "we've got a bullseye painted on her [Nancy Pelosi] wide, laughing eyes" out of context . . .

I guess if you can't attract enough listeners to a radio show of your own (Hellllllloooooo.....AiiiiirrAmeeeericaaaaaa.....) the next best thing is to tape shows that people listen to and bash them. I congratulate MMFA for "thinking outside the box."

Again with the "out of context" claim. What about rightwing talk radio is SO context sensitive that ANY quote sans the hour before and after it is impossible to interpret? She called MMFA a "left-wing crackpot organization". There is no context in which that statement magically becomes anything but an insult.

I'm beginning to think Melanie Morgan doesn't know the meaning of the word "context".
