On the February 9 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, Chris Wallace, host of Fox Broadcasting Co.'s Fox News Sunday, acknowledged that the issue of whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will be allowed to use a military plane to fly nonstop to and from her district is "stupid." Nevertheless, Wallace stated that he would be covering the topic on the upcoming February 11 edition of Fox News Sunday: "We'll be talking about 'Planegate' -- 'Pelosi One' -- which is a pretty great little story -- stupid -- but it's kind of entertaining."

Media Matters for America has documented recent media reports offering unsubstantiated claims, omissions, and uncritical analysis about the story.

From the February 9 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends:

STEVE DOOCY (co-host): So what's happening Chris?

WALLACE: Not much. I'll tell you one thing, we are not going to be covering Anna Nicole Smith --

BRIAN KILMEADE (co-host): Good.

WALLACE: -- on Fox News Sunday, with, to my extreme delight, although it is a very sad story --

KILMEADE: It is.

WALLACE: -- but we will be talking about Iraq. We'll talk about all the politics on Capitol Hill. We'll be talking about "Planegate" -- "Pelosi One" -- which is a pretty great little story -- stupid -- but it's kind of entertaining. And we'll talk about [Sen.] Barack Obama [D-IL], who is going to be announcing tomorrow that he's running for president.

hey i was watching chris wallace yesterday and he uses 'democratic' instead of democrat. i actually emailed him to berate him for his clinton interview too and he replied to me a couple of times in depth about why he felt it was a legit question to ask clinton -

Here is part of his reply on that, I disagree with you. I think my job as an interviewer is not to show consistency--or follow an agenda--but to ask the most important and interesting questions I can think of--AT THAT TIME--to the interviewee. With Clinton--the al Qaeda question was pressing--because of the controversy over the ABC docudrama--and the fact that it happened on his watch. I wasn't asking him to opine about Bush policy today--(although I think that would also be legitimate).

If I ever get an interivew with Bush--I would be much more interested in asking him about the thousands of Iraqis--and hundreds of Americans who are dying in Iraq--and the fact that two-thirds of the 'axis of evil' is more dangerous today than when he came up with that name in 2002. I think it would be a waste to ask him about 2001--not because it isn't legitimate--but because there are much more pressing and immediate issues.

Its not just FOX. MSNBC covers the death of Anna at 10pm last night giving it a full hour, also most of Scarborugh and a significant portion of MMFA favorite Olbermann covered this dead white women.

Larry King and Anderson Cooper spent most of their time discussing it eiher.

As horrible as this poor womens death is Id rather hear about Nancy Pelosi's plane story that the death.

The plane story is stupid but still needs to be covered, just like George Bush and his stupid actions.

It is a stupid story, but perhaps Wallace will put it to bed for those who still don't KNOW what really went on.

BTW for anyone who doesn't know----> Barack Obama & his lovely wife will be interviewed on 60 Minutes this Sunday.

Let me get this straight...it is a "stupid" story by will be covered on

Fox News Sunday. Why would that even need to be mentioned...the word "stupid", that is. Most of them are aren't they?

Look, for you Cons still trying to hold onto the lift-raft, forget it. Come on over and get on the Big Liner called the Democratic Party. By your own admissions, we argue amongst ourselves, we disagree publicly inside the ranks of Congress--isn't this what you want? An open-government.

To continue this "STUPID" story shows what the remaining Cons want...hopefully they will mention..TRAVELGATE, WHITEWATER and the murdering Clintons'. This is all you want to hear. Stay in your little lifeboat and enjoy because the Democratic Liner will pass you by. We offer a lifeline to all of you on the site. No grudges here.

Remember, Karl Rove and his tactics have been trumped and his sleaze-ball antics just don't work anymore. Or, perhaps, we found our own Rove and he is better than your Rove. Be afraid.

P.S. If you allow these Fox people and the Coulters to continue their idiocy, the D's will end up with the Super Majority in each the Senate and the House. And then we will have "PELOSI ONE,TWO and THREE" and maybe FOUR

since Clinton kicked his ass all over the studio.

        It's a stupid story but I'll cover it anyway;

the stupid story sure keeps the missing 12 billion dollars out of the papers and off the air. and if Wallace would have aired the A.N.S. story he would have found out that I'm the father.

I resemble that remark! [3 Stooges Curley for the uninitiated]

I watch Chris every Sunday just to hear Brit & the biggest neocon of all William Kristol spew their war mongering and to cheer on Juan Williams [I keep hoping he decks both of them]

But what about the nuts who think this channel is news?

P.S. I don't think Juan Williams is going to be the man for that assignment of yours. Ed Schultz would probably be able to drop them though.

      What a revelation.

If it's STUPID, it's a "great little story" for FOX to cover.

Why? Because FOX considers their audience. Perfect.

"..which is a pretty great little story -- stupid -- but it's kind of entertaining."

This is what passes for journalism at Fox.Why is it such a great little story Chris? Its predicated completely on lies. This is the kind of treatment the speaker of the house should expect? If there is any justice at all in the world, these clowns will one day have to take responsibility for what they've done to political "debate" in America.By calling the story stupid from the outset,Wallace is actually challenging Dems to try to take this story seriously so that it may be said that they have no sense of humor.Well, sorry dipstick-but this story is VERY serious.
