CNN's, ABC's Glenn Beck: "Hillary's voice makes angels cry. ... Brace yourself, men of America"
On the March 29 edition of CNN Headline News' Glenn Beck, host and Good Morning America commentator Glenn Beck -- who has referred to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) as a "stereotypical bitch" -- declared that Clinton's voice "makes angels cry." Before airing another Clinton clip, he warned: "Brace yourself, men of America." He also asked "voice specialist" Nancy Daniels and former Partridge Family cast member Danny Bonaduce to provide "independent professional verification" of the qualities of Clinton's voice.
Following a video clip of Clinton giving a speech, Beck exclaimed: "Oh, my good God. Danny -- will you kill yourself [after] four years of that? I agreed with everything she just said, but I just want to kill myself." Bonaduce replied: "I think four years with Hillary Clinton in the White House would be like an eternity in hell with Fran Drescher." Beck agreed, stating "Fran Drescher is the same kind of person" as Clinton.
Beck also suggested that men in particular find Clinton's voice to be "grating." While introducing another video clip of a Clinton speech, Beck warned, "Brace yourself, men of America." Following the clip, Bonaduce said he thought "Bill Clinton was a very good president," before adding, "But I can see why he was driven around a little bit." Bonaduce asserted that he would "even consider voting for Hillary Clinton" because "I think she might not be afraid in a jam to turn to her husband and say, 'What should I do?' "
After Beck asked Daniels: "[H]ow does she [Clinton] really get her point across of passion?" Daniels replied, "Well, it's really not difficult to get the point across with passion if she actually has the passion in the right direction, and I don't know that she does." She added: "But what I mean is, she's not using her voice to complement anything that she is saying." Beck concluded the segment by asking Bonaduce whether he'd prefer to listen to another clip of Clinton or go "through the DTs" -- delirium tremens, an episode of delirium that usually occurs as a result of alcohol withdrawal -- and feel "purple monkeys crawling all over [his] body, and they're covered in spiders." Following the clip, Bonaduce replied: "I'm thinking monkeys with spiders on it is actually too good. It's too fair of an offer."
From the March 29 edition of CNN Headline News' Glenn Beck:
BECK: Oh, I swear to you. I think her -- I think Hillary's voice makes angels cry. They do. They're up there. [sobbing]
I wanted to get independent professional verification. Joined now by two guests. One is a voice specialist. Her name is Nancy Daniels. And Danny Bonaduce, who, in the next few minutes, may say really mean things. I don't know.
But, first, let me fuel the fire here with just an example of what I'm talking about. Here's some classic Clinton.
CLINTON [video clip]: Our soldiers matter. Our standing in the world matters. Our future matters. And it is up to us to take it back, put it into our hands, start marching toward a better tomorrow.
BECK: Oh, my good God. Danny --
BONADUCE: Yes, sir.
BECK: -- will you kill yourself of four years of that? I agreed with everything she just said, but I just want to kill myself.
BONADUCE: Well, I agree with everything in the national anthem, but I almost blew my brains out when Roseanne Barr sang it. And I think it says something right off the bat that you call a person that sounds like me to qualify on somebody with an annoying voice. It's like asking Tony Soprano, "What do you think of Neighborhood Watch?"
BECK: OK, all right.
BONADUCE: I think four years with Hillary Clinton in the White House would be like an eternity in hell with Fran Drescher.
BECK: Now, listen, you're exactly right. Fran Drescher is the same kind of person. Nancy.
DANIELS: Yes.
BECK: Right? There's a certain thing -- and I'm not talking about politics, I'm not talking about the content of what she says or her character or anything else -- but there is a certain [grunt] to her voice, isn't there?
DANIELS: Yes. And she's bringing that voice up through here into her cheek bones and through her nose, and it's very annoying.
BECK: Oh, my gosh, that's it. You're doing it.
DANIELS: Yes.
BECK: Now, how do you correct that? Do you work with people to correct that?
DANIELS: Absolutely. I teach them how to, first, breathe with the support of the diaphragm, and then allow the chest to become that major amplifier. The voice is warmer. It's richer. It sounds authoritative without being overbearing.
BECK: So, let me give you another piece of Clinton here. Here's another. Brace yourself, men of America.
CLINTON [video clip]: They have a right to organize, and they have a right to fight for and bargain for a decent wage, and health benefits, and pension, and everything else that makes it possible to be part of the American dream.
BECK: OK, so why hasn't she fixed that? I mean, if you can fix it for her, why isn't she calling you up?
DANIELS: Well, I think one of the questions you have to ask yourself is, do you really want me to fix that?
BONADUCE: No, I really want you to fix that.
BECK: No, wait a minute. Danny, Danny. Well, wait a minute. You like Clinton, don't you?
BONADUCE: Yeah, yeah. I thought -- and the reason I would even consider voting for Hillary Clinton is for -- I think she might not be afraid in a jam to turn to her husband and say, "What should I do?" And I thought Bill Clinton was a very good president.
BECK: Ooh.
BONADUCE: But I can see why he was driven around a little bit.
BECK: Yeah, well, there you go, America. A guy who lived in a Dumpster.
BONADUCE: But my fear is -- my biggest fear is that I agree with a lot of the things she says. Those little speeches right now were wonderful. The problem is, when Voltaire said, "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it," if he had met Hillary Clinton, he'd say, "I'll defend to the death your right to jot it down somewhere."
BECK: Just write it down.
BONADUCE: Just pass me a note.
BECK: So, Nancy, would it be better for her just to never -- because when she really gets into trouble is when she is like, "And I want you to" -- when she's really going after it. Would it be better for her -- and then how is a woman with that kind of grating voice -- do you express passion? If she would just calm down. Speak down here. I mean, how does she really get her point across of passion?
DANIELS: Well, it's really not difficult to get the point across with passion if she actually has the passion in the right direction, and I don't know that she does. But what I mean is, she's not using her voice to complement anything that she is saying.
And, in fact, when you had mentioned earlier, when she went and spoke in that Southern drawl, that was truly humiliating. That was embarrassing. She never should have done that. We don't want -- she's almost offending the Southerners.
BECK: OK. Danny.
BONADUCE: Yes, sir.
BECK: You've gone through the DTs.
BONADUCE: I have indeed.
BECK: Yeah. Purple monkeys -- hang on.
BONADUCE: I'd do it again not to hear another clip from her.
BECK: I was going to say, purple monkeys crawling all over your body, and they're covered in spiders, or this?
BONADUCE: I've got to go with the monkeys.
BECK: Wait, wait, wait, I've got to play the sound.
CLINTON [video clip]: That is not a record that New York needs in the United States Senate.
BECK: Danny?
BONADUCE: I'm thinking monkeys with spiders on it is actually too good. It's too fair of an offer.
BECK: Yeah. I think so, too. Thank you. Nancy, Danny, I appreciate it. We'll be back in just a bit.

Beck is turning into a one trick pony methinks...
turning
Beck and Bonaduce. Perfect.
wtf?
Maybe...
MMFA should just post Beck's transcripts from each show and we can comb through them ourselves and pick out whatever offends each of us.
IF Beck was delivering the ABC Nightly News and making these comments about Hillary I'd find his remarks worthy of a scolding. But he says this stuff on his cable show with an audience of probably 40 people besides his family.
So the guy finds Hillary's voice grating. So what? Does anyone here honestly think his opinion will sway voters away from Hillary because of this? And what type of voters would they be anyway? Intelligent? Not bloody likely ;-)
It's his opinion. And it's no biggie.
Jeter, I tend to agree with you. I also do not feel that Beck is worse than Imus who says these things daily to supposedly reputable MSM stypes. Beck is saying it to Danny Partridge. Imus says it to Frank Rich and Howard Fineman. Big difference.
Yeah, and Danny doesn't seem to get it either that Roseanne was deliberately vamping during her singing. A small point, but it goes to questions about these guy's mental acuity, etc.
Unfortunately, some people (I don't know anyone personally) listen to him, and this crap doesn't add value to any meaningful discourse. It only serves the likes of the Beck-Hannity-Limbaughs of the world.
BTW, isn't Beck's over-enunciation annoying? Ever listen to him talk when he gets into his sloooww... over-enunciate mode? Talk about annoying. One step away from a Hannity-type voice.
Exactly. Beck despises Hillary Clinton. About as much of a newsworthy scoop as liberals love taxes.
;)
About as newsworthy as Tommy continually commenting on a site for months, saying only that the site he frequents isn't newsworthy.
Well lucky for me I'm not here for news, but instead to see what has you all gnashing your teeth over now.
...gnashing of teeth, wearing sackcloth and ashes....
so if his audience is as small as you claim, why is he still on the air? Doesn't sound like he's making the cable station any money when you put it that way...
Very astute observation...I thought the omnipotent marktplace was supposed to take care of things like that...
Make that omniscient...
So then it KNOWS everything but it cant accomplish everything. I would say neither
Well I may get attacked for this but this should not suprise anyone, Beck hates Hillary but at least he has unprofessional news people on with him when he makes these statements. I have heard the horrible Imus say Hillary is "statan" to supposedly legitimate news people including Howard Fineman, Bob Schieffer, Frank Rich. They laugh and then Imus producer calls her a "bit*h"
I ask is that any worse than Beck?
Dorris,
If it's any consolation to you, I don't approve of any childish namecalling by anyone who has airtime. It only lends approval to the general lowering of discourse that we now see on a daily basis.
Whatever happened to respect?
I agree, Respect has been lost in the past 10 years or longer. The hate that is spewed by the likes of Rush, Imus toward politicians and people of public service is disgraceful.
I don't think respect has been "lost". I think the politicians have worked hard for many decades to EARN the disrespect we have for them.
By the time this administration is finally gone, dignity will be another casualty.
When Beck's on, both of our cats leave the room...
A few minutes later, I hear them scratching away in their litter boxes.
Connection?
SAVE DEMOCRACY, VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT!!
Bonaduce has come a long way from hiding his wife's closet in the wee hours of the night as the Phoenix Police Department is knocking on the door looking for a purp that beat a Transexual Prostitute after sex for money he did not want to pay!! (1991)
Beck would be a step down from his previous persuits, I hope he begins to associate with a better kind of croud!!
Happy Thoughts;
Dan Grady
It's a way of indirectly going after her because she's a woman. Men just sound better when projecting their voice to a crowd. On the positive side she doesn't have the sort of problem a Joe Lieberman has for example where his attitude (whining) gets projected along with the voice, even when speaking one on one. She sounds fine when not speaking to a crowd.
Maybe it's just me, but I see a pattern. Rush Limbaugh berates liberals for their racism, and how they always appeal to emotion...Glenn Beck, who sounds like his voice got stuck in mid puberty, complains about someone with an annoying voice...
Does anyone think this sophomoric "I know you are but what am I?" rhetoric is an accident? They know they're full of sh*t, and they're laughing at their imbecilic listeners for swallowing their nonsense.
Noone ever accused them of being deep. Can't expect pearls from swine.
I don’t find anything particularly annoying about Senator Clinton’s voice. Usually when I listen to her I find her comments to be thoughtful and well spoken. Her voice sounds OK to me. Glenn Beck displays an unabashed juvenile mentality to focus on such irrelevancies. I wouldn’t be surprised if he devotes his next program to her bust size.
What, no Todd Bridges?
Oh, that's right, he's working now.
If ever someone has overstayed his fifteen minutes it's Danny.
Now c'mon, maybe ol' danny can help beck's show after all! Imagine at the start of his show they put up a picture of an egg cracking, and out comes... egg. Then the music starts:
Hello, world, I really need some help here,my show is crappy! All I can book are some has been celebrities, like bonaduce! Feel free to help finish Beck's opening song!
A whole lot of feces is what we'll be bringin'...
Our show is crappy!!
My two cent= her voice sounds like a "[link to mediamatters.org] color="#0052a3">stereotypical bitch".
The Democrats should love this. instead of focusing on the real issues that might hurt her run for the white house, he is looking at all his pet peeves. If he stops this crap then he might turn his guns on her flip floppiness. I think it is a pretty good trade.
Gee, if McCain just adopts a screechy Gilbert Godfrey kinda voice, he can enjoy the same protection against his daily flip flops!
Gives me an idea for my next patent - the flip-o-meter. Too many, and the candidate flops!
Off-topic, as I usually am... but is there any politician who doesn't "flip-flop?" Bush was against the Department of Homeland Security before he was for it, against the 9/11 Commission before he was for it... isn't compromise sort of how you govern?
I think there's a name for politicians who don't flip-flop: ex-politicians.
There's another word for "flip-flopping"...an older, more concise term. It's called "lying".
That's what it's about. If they had to go on her voting record, they'd find themselves attacking a fellow right-winger. If the issues get talked about, almost all the candidates start looking exactly the same. So they go after superficialities, themselves being very superficial people to start with.
This is gonna be a two-year-long repeat of 2004. Both sides fighting over irrelevant and petty pointlessness, like Vietnam war records and personal appearance, while our soldiers and the Iraqi people continue to die...
Time for a real change. Greens 2008. Join the Revolution.
Beck wants everyone to know that the "men of America" will only be able to tolerate a female president if she has the breathy come-hither whisper of an expensive call girl combined with the warm apple-pie tonality of their sainted mother. Anything else will just show that the woman is a shrill, nagging shrew.
Some have already pointed this out, in different terms, but it's the height of hypocrisy for Beck to make fun of anyone's voice. The first day I heard Beck on the radio, not even knowing his politics, I though, 'Wow, this guy has a really annoying voice. It's the epitome of "loudmouth.' And Danny Bonaduce (sp?): WTF? Anyone who looks like that should not be making fun of anyone's voice. And who is he to criticize anyone? In the 80s and 90s he was known as a total freakshow. Now he's some legitimate political analyst? Please.
Becks abject stupidity makes those with a functioning cerebral cortex cry.
For anyone interested the latest issue of the Advocate has an article about Hillary and Obama. Here is a link to a "teaser" for the article.
They talk about the two Dem's policy records and the impressions the LGBT community has of both.
They also mention (and quote) Pam from Pam's House Blend and some guy....um oh what's his name......he started a some sort of media watch site on the net......never heard of it before......
Media of America?
America Matters Media?
Of American Media Matters?
Or something like that. Anyways it talks about his history both for and against the Clinton's. Maybe Brock is making up for what he said in the past by defending Hillary now?
BTW: side note to all those homophobes out there, opening and reading my link will not make you gay, or will it????? :)
Finally! You homosexual agenda exposed for all to read!!
Just kidding of course. Good article.
Actually Mag, that was only part of it. The entire article is pretty good, non-judgmental, jsut here are their strengths/weaknesses you decide.
As for the gay agenda:

AAAArrrrgh !! Must... assault... traditional... marriage as God intended... Recruit..children...
Damn you, McCain!! Damn you to HELL !!!!
Why do male chauvinistic pigs like these have to play games when it comes to their outright fear and loathing of just the possibility of a woman, ANY WOMAN, becoming President?
These guys are a couple of two-bit, no-talent recovering addicts and they've been given a nationwide platform!!!!!!! These are truly sad times we are living in.
It isn't just "becoming President": this guy is terrified of women, period. I just play a wise old coot, but in 60+ years of observation, this is someone who never pictured women as "just like me, except for different plumbing".
I am so sick of people being anti-Hillary, solely on the basis that they perceive her to be a bitch... and they don't like the way she "sounds"! Is that even relevant? Just because she's a brilliant, articulate, and powerful woman, that makes her a bitch?! I don't think her constituents, who overwhelmingly re-elected her to the Senate, think she's a bitch. Give me a GOOD reason not to like her... I bet you can't
or, at least, "she's OUR b*tch!"
Brilliant? Brilliant?!?! Einstein was brilliant. Tolkien was brilliant. Morrison was brilliant. I am brilliant.
Hillary is not brilliant. She's dumb, ignorant, uneducated. She knows nothing of science, literature, philosophy or world history. She knows nothing but fundraising and how to con her way into high position (like most of today's corporate climbers). She votes to kill children, both in Palestine and Iraq. She supports war crimes and the military/industrial complex. She supports the erosion and eventual demise of the Bill of Rights. She is not brilliant. She is as average as every other DC politician. I know that I far outrank her, both in knowledge and in ethics. I could run rings around her in debate, easily. She is not brilliant. She's just another well-manicured orc.
This has got to be a plot; liberal disinformation. Didn't Chris Matthews tell us authoritatively that men are afraid to attack Hillary and leave it to highly educated women? So we can't really be seeing what we think we're seeing.
And, by the way, this guy's voice isn't so great I'd love to hear him launch into song.
if he's going to go after someone, not for political hacksmanship, but soley on whether a person is a good orator, he should be all over bush and cheney. Bush sounds like a semi-literate, petulant child; and cheney sounds like slingblade.
BECK: -- will you kill yourself of four years of that? I agreed with everything she just said, but I just want to kill myself.
If you're ever going to kill yourself Beck, call me first. I'll buy your last meal.
Can someone give me an example of Beck complaining about Georgie stumbling over his words like a five-year-old?
Whoa Nelly - The Beaver and Danny Partridge is more brain power than one expects to see on CNN Headline News. Hey...what gives!? If I have one more convulsion I'm suing.
Well listen, Hillary's voice may make angels cry but The Beavers haircut makes blood squirt from my eyes.
that opening pic is hilarious
Even though Beck and the Redhead probably don't know a darn thing about the subject of the segment, other than it was a chance to show their anti-HRC side, Daniels did make some salient points. HRC could use some voice coaching, especially with her "crowd" voice. I find it annoying, as it is somewhat shrill and tends at times to the nasal side. One on one conversations are an entirely differnt matter, I like that tone and, most of the time, the message.
If she gets voice coaching the punditocracy will jump all over her for being "inauthentic." She can't win for losing. (Or vice-versa, maybe.)
If you really want to see a sickening display, check out the clip where "MC" Karl Rove dances and raps like an evil buffoon at the recent Correspondant's Dinner. It was aired on C-Span and it has to be one of the most horrifying spectacles ever seen at this type of event.
Beck, your face makes me cry . . .
Respect for hillary was never "lost". Respect must be "had" before it can become "lost".
Who are you referring to here, Knox VD ? (the "lost" part)
Right. Too many people give her a false respect simply for her title and celebrity. Real respect must be earned, must be given to be gotten in return. She hasn't given the average American any respect, why should we give any back? She hasn't done anything for us except side with those who want us mired in endless warfare and to destroy our human rights.
Time for a change. Greens 2008. Join the Revolution.
Well anyone who thinks braile is pc for the blind, like Beck, is a horses rear end.And when did mr. no talent bondaduce become an expert on anything?
