Olbermann named Beck, Graham "Worst Persons" for Graham's "whack" the Clintons comment

On the June 21 edition of MSNBC's Countdown, host Keith Olbermann named radio talk show host Michael Graham and CNN's Glenn Beck the winners of his nightly "Worst Person in the World" award for Graham's remark that while watching the Clintons' video spoof of The Sopranos, he wanted to "see somebody come in here and just whack them both right there."

As Media Matters for America documented, Graham made these comments during the June 20 edition of CNN Headline News' Glenn Beck. Olbermann quoted Graham saying, "Seriously, Glenn, didn't you at one point want to see, like, Paulie Walnuts [character on The Sopranos] or someone come in and just whack them both right there? Wouldn't that have been great?" Olbermann added:

How did Beck respond? Did he tell Graham you do not joke about actual violence whether it's against the Clintons or the Bushes or Michael Savage? No. Beck chuckled and said: "No, I did not want to see that," and then smiled that little electro-shock therapy smile of his and let Graham add: "Let's make it happen."

As Media Matters noted, Graham's comments were not edited out of subsequent airings of the program. Instead, CNN aired the same version of the show -- including Graham's remark about wanting to see "somebody come in ... and just whack" the Clintons -- at 7 and 9 p.m. ET on June 20 and at midnight on June 21.

Media Matters has also noted that ABC News hired Beck as a "regular commentator" on Good Morning America, and Washington Post Radio is reportedly considering hiring him.

From the June 21 edition of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann:

OLBERMANN: But tonight's winners, Michael Graham and good old Glenn Beck of CNN. Discussing the Clintons-Sopranos spoof, Graham, radio yakker and former Republican consultant, mused about wishing to see the Clintons murdered in the video.

Quoting Graham: "Seriously, Glenn, didn't you at one point want to see, like, Paulie Walnuts or someone come in and just whack them both right there? Wouldn't that have been great?"

Michael Graham and Glenn Beck of CNN, today's "Worst Persons in the World."

The Cons have to be obsessed with Monica. Think of it as this way:

Monica is Snow White compared the the Wicked Witch that the Cons are ie Malkin, Coulter. So when the Cons ie Malkin, Coulter look in the mirror and say, "mirror mirror on the wall whose the fairest of them all.

"Compared to you Cons Monica is," says the Mirror. Hence the Cons obsession about giving Snow White aka Monica the apple aka smear job.

I liked the Clinton's video spoof. Thought it was kind of clever.

Graham's remark was uncalled for. I mean it wasn't even funny. Just mean-spirited.

Are he & Beck the Worst People In The World for this little exchange? Nah, just a couple of idiots with warped sense of humors.

What about Lott for his comments about Talk Radio and suggesting that free speech be stifled? What about jihad groups graduating classes of homicide bombers with the goal of killing us? What about Hamas guards killing peace protestors in Gaza today?

Keith, your perspectives are totally out of whack. Come down from your cable news lifestyle and touch base with the people again.

        Cannon,

While you may be right in jumping on Olbermann for not naming those you mention as "Worst Person" but Keith is only one person and can only mention three dirt bags per day on each show!

Perhaps they will be mentioned tonight......

Speaking of which, it's time for Keith now.....

Cannonball, it's always the terrorists who want to kill 'us' with people like you isn't it? I'll tell you this: those people in the Middle East have better memories than the average American. They know the US and Europe have f***** with them long enough, they know Israel doesn't give a crap about Palestinian lives (though there are plenty of Israeli citizens who do, but their Zionist government has no desire to listen to reason), they know American neocons would love to control the region. No, plenty of lives lost over there thanks to US/Western meddling mean nothing to you. Only precious American lives.

What I like most about these idiot "they hate us cause were free" chronologies is that they leave out all the recent history that might actually make sense of why people in the mideast do what they do.

It's all about some mystical failing hidden deep in the nature of Islam, never about more overt causes like the overthrow of Mossadegh in Iran in 1953 and the subsequent reign of terror under the Shah  (for one of many examples).

Arabs are depicted as surly and irrational, though none of the actual grievances of the last half century are allowed into the discussion.

they hate us because we are free. We stand in the way of their domination by surrender. What is it about "Convert or Die" that is hard for you to understand??? Freedom stands in the way of a religion that controls by submission.  We overthrew Iran's PM in 1953 means nothing to anyone except some Iranians. This is a world wide cult of qutubism and wahhabism that wants to control entire countries including the U.S. by forcing submission to a religious cult. It has nothing to do with our foreign policy. It has everything to do with destroying freedom and forcing non-believers to convert or die.

You are such a bigot. If they hate us because we are free why arent they attacking Norway and Canada? How can you possibly type something so obviously ignorant. It is nothing more than propagand for the weak minded. I guess you qualify.

You can remove 'depicted' from your sentence. The violence over Rushdei's recent knighthood is just one example of the LACK of tolerance in the Middle East. They kill people that leave islam, they kill people that make fun of allah (I think he's a closet bacon fan), and they kill people that are not muslim enough. Every other religion in the world has evolved... these evil fanatics that have hijacked Islam want to keep it in the 12th century.

And quit with the pity for Palestine. People seem to forget that Palestine has been shunned by their middle east brothers in various countries... it's not just Israel that doesnt like them.

YES, it's always about the terrorists that want to kill us. Bin Laden's stated goal is to kill 3 million Americans in return for the 3 million that were killed by Americans thanks to sanctions. It has nothing to do with the actions of evil leaders in the Middle East... they blame all of their problems on America and Israel. They hate us because we support Israel.

When the next 9/11 happens, will you post here that we deserved it, that Americans deserve to die at the hands of these barbarians? Will there ever be ANYTHING that a radical muslim does that will cause you to speak out against THEM instead of US?

If this war won't change them, then we have no leverage with them, and it's becoming obvious to even you that it will not work.  But, our first priority is to make certain that the U.S. is held to the highest standard.  Anything less is unacceptable, regardless of who's in power.

Please practice step 2.  Then stop implying that Liberals want to lose this war.  Those who repeat that statement sound as stupid as the statement itself.

You guys really dont get the whole irony thing do you? The point of calling it the worst person in the world is that he targets media people who use over the top attacks on other people. Try to keep up. No one much less Olbermann thinks Glenn Beck is actually the worst person in the world.

Maher: But I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow. (applause)

Scarborough: If someone on this panel said that they wished that Dick Cheney had been blown up, and you didn’t say…

            Frank: I think he did.

            Scarborough: Okay. Did you say…

Maher: No, no. I quoted that.

            Frank: You don’t believe that?

Maher: I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.

Are you out of your efing mind?  Maher never said it would be a good thing if Cheney died.  You posted the qoute, maybe YOU should read it.  Next, you say that Solon twisted Maher's words, when in fact, YOU were the one who twisted the quote around to fit your argument which makes you the one who has lost any shred of credibility that you might have had.

Personally, I happen to think that it would be a good thing, but thats a whole other post.  Just joking, hahaha!

Concerning sarcasm or humor from those on the dark side of the political spectrum--No problem when it comes from someone who does comedy.  This fool trys to get an audience to take him seriousely, except when he strays over the line.  Then it's--"I'm just joking."  Maybe that crap flies with you guys.  But I know you'd never let the Left get away with it.
