On the June 28 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Glenn Beck commented on a mock ad -- produced by subscribers to his website known as "Insiders" -- depicting a "giant refinery" that produces "Mexinol," which, according to the ad, is a fuel made from the bodies of illegal immigrants from Mexico. Beck read from the ad: "At Evil Conservative Industries, we know four things for certain. The country needs cheap, alternative fuel source. Two, the human body is 18 percent carbon. Three, carbons can be turned into hydrocarbons. Four, we have a buttload of illegal aliens in our country."

Beck continued to read from the ad: "Evil Conservative Industries is proud to present the fuel of the future, Mexinol. A clean-burning, cheap alternative to gasoline, Mexinol's future seems unlimited in its potential. There are other gasoline alternatives available such as ethanol. However, Mexinol has certain advantages from corn. Corn has to be grown, harvested, and processed. With Mexinol, raw materials come to you in a seemingly never-ending stream. Go ahead and purchase that boat-sized SUV. There's plenty of Mexinol for everyone."

Beck introduced the discussion by saying, "Sometimes the Insiders go too far," and later said, "I don't think we need to make the illegal aliens into fuel." Beck also said, "That would be evil conservative, yeah. I don't even know if that's conservative. That would be ... [p]sychotic, perhaps? Sociopathic, perhaps?" Beck's executive producer and head writer, Steve "Stu" Burguiere, added, "Just evil, pretty much." However, as of June 29, the ad was posted on the front page of Beck's website under the title "Picture of the Day," with a caption that described the "ad" as a "brilliant creation."

Beck Pic of Day

As Media Matters for America noted, on the May 5, 2006, edition of his radio program, Beck aired a mock commercial for a fictional amusement park called "Cinco de Flag" that touted rides such as the "tractor-trailer run," in which "[w]e simulate an 18-wheeler full of illegal immigrants trying to cross the border when the INS [Immigration and Naturalization Service] breaks in." The mock commercial also advertised the "craziest ride ever to come to Mexico: a job application!" The commercial added: "Feel the exhilaration of what it would actually be like to apply for and get a job in Mexico. Imagine the rush of an economy that won't make residents of its country prefer a life away from family while running from the law." After the commercial ended, Beck played the 1958 song "Tequila" by The Champs in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, referring to it as the "Mexican national anthem," and added, "and, of course, we changed the words to English."

A week earlier, on the April 27, 2006, edition of his radio program, Beck had claimed that there are three reasons an illegal immigrant "comes across the border in the middle of the night": "One, they're terrorists; two, they're escaping the law; or three, they're hungry. They can't make a living in their own dirtbag country."

In addition to his radio show, Beck hosts a CNN Headline News television program and is scheduled fill in for CNN host Paula Zahn during the week of July 2. As Media Matters has noted, ABC News hired Beck in January as a "regular commentator" for Good Morning America, and The Washington Post reported in June that Washington Post Radio is reportedly "considering" picking up a show hosted by him.

From the June 28 edition of Premiere Radio Networks' The Glenn Beck Program:

BECK: Sometimes the Insiders go too far. "Evil Conservative Industries," according to the Insiders -- and they've made an ad for it -- "The future is now. Welcome to Evil Conservative Industries Bluff Pointe's Mexinol Plant Number 2," and it's a giant refinery.

"At Evil Conservative Industries, we know four things for certain. The country needs cheap, alternative fuel source. Two, the human body is 18 percent carbon. Three, carbons can be turned into hydrocarbons. Four, we have a buttload of illegal aliens in our country."

I don't think we need to make the illegal aliens into fuel.

"Evil Conservative Industries is proud to present the fuel of the future, Mexinol.

Yeah, Insiders, I think we should stay off the Mexinol. What do you think? Stu? What did you say, Stu?

BURGUIERE: I think that one actually would be evil conservative.

BECK: That would be evil conservative, yeah. I don't even know if that's conservative. That would be --

BURGUIERE: Just evil, pretty much.

BECK: Psychotic, perhaps? Sociopathic, perhaps?

BURGUIERE: A tad, a tad.

BECK: Yes.

BURGUIERE: Yeah.

BECK: Yeah. It's people! What is it? Soylent green? Soylent green, it's people!

This one time on Cheers, Frasier made a joke at the expense of Democrats, and MMFA has yet to investigate, much less write anything about it.

From this we must conclude that MMFA is actually a front group for Karl Rove and his evil-doers.

This blatant use of humor should not be allowed to go unpunished.

Quick Question:  does conservative "humor" consist of ANYTHING other than race-baiting, use of the word "f-ggot," and homicidal fantasies?  Just wondering.

Oh, and another question: Does anyone really find this stuff funny? Really?

What would liberal humor be? Maybe liberals are such stuffed-shirts that they don't have any humor. It's certainly obvious they don't understand humor, so it only makes sense they would not be humorous. That must be why 2/3 of the nation prefer NOT being liberal.

But, just in case...here's a liberal joke for you...did you hear about the guy wearing a grateful dead shirt? They call him a pot-head!

Cough up the names of those rightwing comedic geniuses again the ones that blow names like Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, and George Carlin who as liberals obviously have no sense of humor. Yeah.. Beck is a real hater. A real poker of fun at stereo types. Wow... that's so hateful. So evil. Here's another one for you:

There were some, you know, demonstrations on May Day, and the Latino population turned out there, and they wound up getting beaten up, some of them, by the LAPD. They used rubber bullets and night sticks to disperse the crowd. They hit one Mexican guy so hard candy spilled out of him. [laughter] [applause]

That Glenn is a funny guy.

Oh wait, that wasn't Glenn. It was Bill Maher in the monologue of his April 17 show.

HNN is hardly CNN. ANd I;m sure Bill gets a lot more viewers than Glenn.

And once again,  when a lib is exposed for doing something that a conservative was criticized for, there's always an excuse: "it's not a big enough network "its not the same audience."

What IT is is hypocracy. ALL people are allowed to express their opinions, and nobody gets away without offending someone. The world needs to lighten up just a tad. There are much bigger problems to waste energy on such as illegal immigration, terrorism, tax reform, health care reform, education reform, etc.

No it isnt hypocrisy. You just dont want to see the difference. FIRST headline NEWS network is still a news network and its not a matter of what the viewership is its a matter of whether its supposed to be comedy or its supposed to be punditry. I said I thought it crossed the line I certainly dont think its funny, IF, he had said this during the interview part of the show your point would make more sense but that was during the monologue wasnt it? I think it racist and boorish it was racist and boorish in the context of comedy. Put Beck on  the comedy channel and I will cut him similar slack. you will ignore anything it takes to pretend apples are oranges it doesnt mean it makes sense

He is? Here is what wikipedia says Glenn Beck (born February 10, 1964) is a conservative talk-radio and television host. In fact nothing in the bio says he is a comedian. It lists his position on political issues. When did Beck do a comedy tour? When did he do an HBO special? Run on Comedy Central? Do stand-up at comedy clubs? Just because it would help your argument for it to be true doesnt make Beck a comedian. He may be funny mostly because of his stupidity, that doesnt make him a comedian.

Conservatives are so STUPID they dont even KNOW when they are wrong. Here is a clue. find someone with a normal IQ to explain it to you, you HAVENT BEEN RIGHT YET so if you say it, its probably WRONG.

I have to admit, I think this is funny, probably not for the same reasons that Beck and his Insiders do.

If I had seen this standing alone, I would have figured some non-conservative made it  as a 'Modest Proposal" type of satire aimed at the hysterical anti-immigration wingnuts.

I wouldn't call the phony ad itself misinformation, more like a glimpse into the psyche of Beck's fans.(I think I'll call them Becksicans)

Yeah, I know,it's set up as another one of those "it's a joke/it's satire/ you libs have no sense of humor" items.

What I actually like is that as Beck's trying to decide if it's actually a conservative idea, he racks his brain for a  words to mean "not quite conservative", and comes up with "psychopath" and "sociopath".

A poke at the hatred of the left? I know you are delusional but please maintain some semblence of coherence. So the left which fights racism is being satirized by repeating this sad racist bit of garbage? I guess that might make sense on Planet WINGNUT but on planet Earth its just dumb. And since its YOUR side that has Coulter, Savage and Limbaugh even TALKING about the hatred of the left is hilariously hypocritical. YOUR side patented hate and owns it. There is NO left equivelent of Coulter. Not even close

I think both sides have plenty of hate and angst, don't try to tell me that the left is perfect, or even close to perfect. The left will go to all ends to defend animal rights and nature rights, but has no problem with killing the unborn. The left will complain about the Ten Commandments being displayed somewhere, or a Christmas tree in a Mall, but has no problem with displaying a crucifix in urine or all sorts of porn.

This is the problem with the left IMHO. The contradictions are confusing. Listen to the hatred in the words of Randi Rhodes, Bill Maher, Janine Jerafello and others... they are equal to the comments made by Coulter and others. And, btw, lots of the right including me happens to think that Coulter is a psycho.

The big difference I see is that the right fights for personal accountability and enabling people while te left seeks to blame others for the problems of the world instead of offering solutions.

What you see exists only in your delusional fantasies. There is NO ONE on the left who is the equivilent of Coulter NONE of those you listed has been anywhere near as hateful or insiteful of violence not anywhere near. What you see on the right is what you WANT to see where is the responsibility for Bush lying us into a war? For violating the fourth amendment. No for the right its responsibility for the LEFT and whatever group they are demonizing today with NONE for themselves. This is of course an oversimplification but its at LEAST as valid as the bull you just pulled out of your ass. I never said the left was perfect, I dont believe it is. However you see everything in this simpleminded black/white dichotomy. If I say the left isnt as bad as the right spewing hatred which is self evidently so YOU hear the left is perfect because there is no nuance in your world no complexity. In a world that is 85% grey you can see nothing but black and white. Its sad. You will NEVER get whats going on as long as you keep dumbing down the world.

Cough up the liberal saying we should beat conservatives with baseball bats or kill a sitting supreme court justice or kill someone to scare conservatives or they will turn traitor of telivize torture as a sport and I will concede but that person doesnt exist on the left. You have some weird obsession with hatred I guess that is what your propaganda parrot superior told you is the point of the week. I dont hate Coulter, I dont know the lady, I despise the things she does but that isnt the same thing. Unfortunaly you Manichean cons never seem to get the distinction. So simpleminded. We have been over this before many times not once has one of you rightwing guys been able to cough up a single example of someone on the left of equivelent prominence to Coulter anywhere near her bile level, THEY DONT EXIST, sure extremism exists on both sides it may just be we draw the line at different places Coultes line doesnt seem to exist.

Course I don't really have to tell Beck and any like minded talking head to do this. It seems to be an automatic set of behavior for such.

But how many of those hispanics are legally able to vote?

The same could be said for blacks. An unfortunately large portion of the population votes based on media sound bites, not facts. So many voters are completely and utterly clueless re: candidates and issues. If they don't know, they vote for the name that is closest to their own nationality.

This election is going to be quite interesting, and YouTube will play a big part.

Yes, those in that unfortunately large portion of the population are called "Bushies".

What facts are black people missing out on that would possibly inspire them to vote Republican?  I'm genuinely curious.  Is it this, perhaps?  Or this?  Or the Bush Administration's response to Katrina?  Really, what is it that black people are not being told that would supposedly lead them en masse into the Republican party?

As the guy that created the Mexinol ad, I really want to thank Media Matters. The main reason for making something like that is not to insult Mexicans. They are a great people. Love them. Not so thrilled with the ones who break our laws by coming here illegally but as a whole, I like them. No, the reason for creating something like that is to piss off Liberals. There are very few things in the universe more entertaining that watching a bunch of arrogant, pompous, self important jerks throw a hissy fit. If I were serious about turning anyone into fuel it wouldn't be the Mexicans. French? There's a possibility but they smell bad enough even when they're not burning. No, I think Libs would be my choice. I'm assuming that environmentalist would put out low emissions. I believe the folks at Media Matters would get better mileage though. Is crap considered a pollutant? If so then they may not be that environmentally friendly.

Sadly, I'll be away from my computer all weekend so I won't be able to read the responses. Can't wait until Monday though. Remember be creative and witty. No "you suck" posts please. They are just boring. Have fun.

Since my first post hasn't shown up yet I thought I'd give it another try. Maybe this one will make it. First let me say that I'm hurt that you folks are giving Glenn all the credit. I'm the guy that did the picture. If you don't believe me you can check my web site, payallin.com. It is posted there as well. Secondly, it's called a joke. Frankly, I don't care that you don't find it funny. As a matter of fact, I'm getting a bit of a kick out of how worked up you're getting over it. Just to ease you minds, I really don't want to turn anyone into fuel...Ok, maybe the French but no one else. Finally, the mistake you're making is in saying that the picture is about Mexicans. It is not. I think The Mexican people are great. Any country that can still give us Coke in a glass bottle is alright by me. No, the picture is about the ones who break our laws and come to our country illegally. Now cheer up buckaroos. If you want to worry about stuff there more important things than a goofy picture you can spend your free time worrying about. That stupid fairness doctrine for example. Oh wait, you folks are probably for that aren't you? Bad example. Sorry.

Seriously though, you folks are just looking for things to be offended by. That's your choice. The whole idea behind the "Evil Conservative Industries" thing is to make fun of the stereotyped view that Liberals have of Conservatives. The purpose of the picture was to show how outlandishly Conservatives are viewed. We want to starve old people. We are warmongers. We want pollution and now we want to make fuel from people. While there are those who want to make it an example of how hateful we are, it is only a joke. Now, take a look at some of the comments here and tell me who is being truely hateful.

Bill Maher pokes fun too, but I guess you think he's funny. What about Randi Rhodes? She's a liberal superstar (at least self-proclaimed). She's been known to say hateful things, or recommend unfriendly actions herself. For example (from a CNN April broadcast featuring lots of talk radio hosts):

FERGUSON: You guys are telling me we [the US] can't go around the world and police the world and now you're telling me to go to Mexico and practically lock up their president. RHODES: Absolutely, yes.

Right its not its just as tasteless, and did anyone say Beck should be sued? Because one of his listeners made a cartoon doesnt mean it is representative of the right. What it ISNT is a satire of the LEFT. It COULD be a satire of the right, making fun of the racists that are poisoning the immigration debate. There are good points on both sides but the small percentage of racists on the right are being used by some on the left to turn it into a racist argument. IF it were a satire on the lefts supposed sensativity it would have to actually POINT to that sensativity which it doesnt even HINT at. My point stands, IF it is satire its NOT satire of the left as you are claiming that just doesnt work and you are only putting YOUR interpretation on it based on nothing but what you WISH it were.

IF it were satirical it would be making fun of racists not liberals. You need to look up the word satire in the dictionary. For instance the famous modest proposal by Swift advocated eating the poor. That satirized actual policies that were causing depravation of the poor. It WASNT satirizing those who felt compassion for the privations of poverty. You have no point, it is a dumb attempt to appologize for pure idiotic racism which the cartoon was.

well, Beck fan club president, my informal survey of perhaps a dozen legal persons of hispanic heritage consider this "joke" to be offensive. Only one of these people was not born to US citizens in the US. As a descendent of recent Irish immigrants (illegal to boot!) I can tell you that for nearly the entire history of the US, some one has blamed the economic or social problems of the day on some minority, and always with the use of cartoons. Take a tour through the Holocost museum and see the stark similarity of this cartoon with the Nazi propaganda against jews.

Okay, here is the point of the joke. Killing ANYBODY for fuel is evil, right? right.

Since conservatives want to starve our children, destroy the planet, blah, blah, blah, they  PROVE they are evil by killing Illegal immigrants.

Now see, this is the problem. An incorrect, blanket statement. It might be right to say it is not funny to you and some others but there are those of us hatemongers that do think it's funny. So to say it is not funny is just misinformation. At least be honest in your anger.

This is very clever, First you say something hateful and outrageous.  Next, you say, "Just kidding, ha, ha."  The message is always clear.   High school kids do it all the time. Of course, the original intent sticks.  The disclaimer is only for plausible deniability and to compel the victim at laugh along with his abusers.  Beck is an example of adolescent  conservative development.

It’s just the kind of satire that extreme right wingers love. Delivered in a true schoolyard bully fashion, founded in a pathologicaly deep seated self hate that only religion, booze, drugs or in Ann Coulter's case, the compulse disorder of always wearing a black mini-cocktail dress can keep at bay.  Devoid of empathy and wrapped in mean spirited selfishness but delivered with a wink and a smile. "Nope no weapons of mass destruction here", wink, wink. So in the words of one of the funniest darn Vice Presidents ever, hey Beck, "Go F**k Yourself". Wink, wink.

You know damn well the racist beck, a. wouldn't even think of inserting JEWS in his bigoted and vile joke, and the hypocritical CNN would even allow that for 2 seconds. But the facilitators and complicit people at CNN, who bury stories  when Israel attacks Gaza, and won't show pics of dead Afghans ( Issacsson said "it would be perverse ") tells you were these zionist are coming from, at cnn.

Um, yeah. Israel is the bad guy. Israel is the country that started all of this. Israel is the country that gave up land for peace and it was taken and used for more attacks.

Remember, Palestine is also not wanted by its friends in Syria, Egypt, Iran, et al. Nobody seems to mention THAT part of the equation. Everybody just likes to pick on those big-nosed money controlling blood drinking jews.

Screw Palestine. They had their chance in '67, and Arafat blew chances later on. Israel gave up Gaza, it gave up other land and what happened? The rest is history.

How is giving SOME of the land taken by force a magnanimous gesture? I notice the Isaelis werent wanted by THEIR friends in France, Italy, and so on. IF your point is the Arab world ought to just accept Israel illegally TAKING the land ceded to the indigenous Arab population by the same mandate the created Israel then by the same logic Europe and America ought to have just absorbed the Jews. Israel isnt the only bad guy there are NO white hats in the fight but it IS Israel that has occupied Arab land for forty years not the other way around. I say screw bigots like YOU that ONLY care about allies and NEVER accept for them the conditions they push on our official enemies and never expect from our allies what they expect from our official enemies. When will it ever sink in to you guys that ethical people hold themselves their friends AND their enemies to the same standards?

Third criticising Israeli policies is no more anti semetic than criticising American policies is anti American or anti White. You really ought to stop embarassing yourself by being so proud of your  ignorance.

Yeah, the Palestinians "had their chance"- but not in 1967, in 1948.  They could have agreed to have only half of their land taken from them, instead of all of it.  They chose not to take either deal, and lost everything.  Um...I'm still a little confused, though- what "chance" did the Palestinians have again?

It as sad and pathetic, when an organization like CNN allows a bigot and an excuse for a human being like eck, to make these vile statements. It is also sad and pathetic when there is a deafeningly pregnant silence from our so called media. Now if this was said about Blacks, can you imagine the squawk.

Rather unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that Beck really echos the sentiments of those weak kneed media types, and will not have the guts or the decency to call him on this.

I was raised during the Apartheid era in S. Africa, and we in the U.S need to ask ourselves the question, "How different is our attitude from those of the perpetrators of the Nazi style racism?"

Deep down, there is really no difference.  American business owners want to use illegal immigrants as virtual slave labor.  Some politicians want to use them in the fashion of Tammany Hall, as votes. Other politicians want to use them as the latest scapegoat for all of our problems, to stir up fear and hate.  Above all, none of these groups want to treat them as equal or even as full human beings.

Beck should keep his mouth shut about 'illegal aliens'. He himself came over from Europe. Beck is nothing but Euro-trash. Ofcourse Beck cares too little for his (grand)parents and too much for himself to know anything about history or any of that. But that doesn't keep him from uttering this total bs every day. There are no legal Americans. The legal Americans all got killed after Columbus found the place! Any caucasian American is as legal an American as Cheney is open and honest. Sod off, Beck, the Mexicans have more of a right to be in the US than you, your parents or anyone like you. And then they wonder why the rest of the world thinks Americans are dumb, if lunatic idiots like this can be on national TV!

        There are no legal Americans

I had to comment on this. This is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have seen on MMFA.

My grandmother was Cherokee, full blooded. I think that makes her about as legal an American as you can get.

As far as the rest of everyone. The 14th amendment states anyone born on American soil is an American citizen and anyone who follows naturallization proecdure is an American citizen. Entering this country in the dark of night may only be a civil offense but it is still a crime. If you don't like the laws fighting to change them is the American way, but completely ignoreing the laws is stupid selfish and in no way respects America or it's heritage.

Look, the guy is an idiot. What conservative commentator isn't?  I mean. really. Coulter, Limbaugh, etc., we've rehashed it on this page over and over again.  HOWEVER, the ad IS indeed in the tradition of the Jonathan Swift thesis on serving the poor up for dinner ("Modest Proposal"). It IS outrageous. It is sophmoric. And it's kind of funny in the way that t-shirt I created that said "Abort the baby seals" was funny in the '80s. Its broadly offensive, and teasing the politically correct.  I say we shrug, admit that maybe not all humor is tasteful, and let it slide. He says plenty of stuff he's serious about that deserves condemnation. Sophmoric humor, well, what do you expect. He's an idiot.
