ABC News corrects its false claim that McCain released tax returns

On the March 21 broadcast of ABC's World News, anchor Charles Gibson corrected chief investigative reporter Brian Ross' March 19 assertion -- noted by Media Matters for America -- that Sen. John McCain had released his tax returns.

GIBSON: We have a correction to make: On Wednesday, in a story about the release of Hillary Clinton's White House schedule as first lady, we reported that she, unlike Senators Obama and McCain, has not released her tax returns. In fact, only Obama has released his tax returns. Both Senators Clinton and McCain say they will release theirs next month.

      Of course, the real question is why the MSM have ignored the fact that McCain is keeping both his tax records and his medical records secret from the public. The difference between the treatment of Republicans and Democrats is glaring.

      Does the average voter care? I think that is what these campaigns do, they rank what voters will care about.

      "Taxes, meh, everyone hates them, even though mine will show that I rake it in, baby!"

      Let's see how the MSM analyzes the returns once they have them in their hot little hands.

      The bigger question is why  a reporter for a big time news agency and one who is assigned to cover the political campaign would have got this wrong.  Charles should have used that reporter's name in the correction.  And then gone on to express some concern that "maybe we were just a little more interested in bashing Mrs. Clinton then in getting the story correct."

      I hope that when Mrs. Clinton releases her tax returns next month, it includes the 2006 returns year as well.  That will show a more realistic level of income for she and her husband when they weren't on the campaign trail.  It should help us see how well hubby did with his Mideastern connections with sheiks from Dubai and Kazakhstan's uranium conglomerates. 

      As far as medical records, I think America is still waiting for Bill Clinton's full medical records to be disclosed.

        The media's Clinton hate is a real timesaver.

        I can prove that there's nothing the slightest bit morally iffy about Clinton's connections (if they exist) without even looking, because the media would be 24/7 with them if there were.

        Quick. Look over there. Its ok if the media ignores then flat out gets it WRONG that McCain didnt give out his tax returns while going on and on and ON about Hillary being in EXACTLY the same boat because ProudConservatives pathalogical hatred of the Clintons doesnt leave him any TIME to care about either McCain OR the double standard. There are only so many hours in the day and PC has most of them scheduled for Clinton contempt.

          *(America)= repressed homosexual conservatives who still spend most of their day obsessing about the Clenis, and are hoping for some naughty examination room photos.
