Hugh Hewitt on OSU-USC football game: "[I]t's probably the last football game we'll ever get to see before the United States gets blown up by the Islamists under Obama"

On the June 25 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, while discussing the upcoming September 13 football game between Ohio State University and the University of Southern California, Hugh Hewitt referred to the game as "probably the last football game we'll ever get to see before the United States gets blown up by the Islamists under Obama."
From the June 25 broadcast of Salem Radio Network's The Hugh Hewitt Show:
HEWITT: By the way, I -- I'm still trying to find two tickets to the Ohio State-USC game. And none of the USC people will give up their tickets to me. I'd pay fair price. They -- they know Ohio State's gonna slaughter the Trojans. They know that they're gonna slaughter the Trojans, and therefore they do not want me there at the bloodbath, since it's probably the last football game we'll ever get to see before the United States gets blown up by the Islamists under Obama. I -- I would like to see Ohio State slaughter USC. This is what I'm living for right now. I'm keeping -- all the bad news, I just focus on the Ohio State upcoming slaughter of USC. So if you are a USC fan willing to sell me two or perhaps even three USC tickets to the Ohio State game, hugh@hughhewitt.com, or if you're a Buckeye fan with those tickets back in Ohio, I'll trade you some Browns tickets. New York Giants, Monday night game? Think about it. Hugh Hewitt Show.

Media Matters: The Palin chronicles
The Friday Rush: A series of conflicts
Contrary to media hype, Sarah Palin is very unpopular

It's weird how your nick was changed from Columbus to Science 101 on that blitzer thread. Have some balls and stop trying to convince us, with your multiple nicks, that more than one or two people on the planet agree with your stupid rightwing radicalism.
Who else do you pose as?
http://mediamatters.org/items/200806230008?f=s_search
Whoever Science is, he can't be terribly observant if he thought that Bruce was a liberal. Bruce and Oscar--and usually Jeter, and occasionally Tommy and Wesley, and once in a great while AnotherAmerican--are examples of why conservatism isn't totally hopeless... yet.
Moreover, all these people have had the strength of character to keep the same ID's--as have most of the liberals here.
9/13/08 is one of the first games of the 2008 season. Neither team will suit it up until Obama has been in office for 8 months. Sure Hugh, you could have a point though, if Obama is as poor a President as Bush, it is conceivable 3,000 people could die on his watch, just like on W's, 8 months into his presidency. Please stop projecting W's failure to protect America on Obama or any of the Democrats. How is painting the whole map Red going? Sorry about that blue paint in IL and MS that was dabbled in the last few months.
Those of us in So Cal know that Hugh Hewitt has been a totally crazy a-hole for years. An arrogant little schmuck, who parlayed a questionable gig on public TV here into a lucratrive, nutcase national platform.
He's a real creep-- good work MMFA. These comments are beyond the pale.
"crazy a-hole…..arrogant little schmuck…a real creep"
Morning glory dat.
OSU plays USC in Sept of 2008 - in approximately 10 weeks. Obama won't win the election before November, approximately two months after OSU demolishes USC.
VOTE OBAMA AND DIE!
Don't you just love Republicans...? ;>)
Hewitt is a disgrace, (but he's right about the emotion/liberal part)
;)
Oh, I don't think so - of course, speaking about the 'emotional-liberal' rubbish.
Perhaps you should give M. Rotten Levin a listen or two. He is about as emotional as they get - yelling, carrying on, illogical name-calling, and Z-grade humour all wrapped up in one sorry package.

I can only take M. Rotten Levin in small doses - that Walter Winchell impersonation he does every time he opens his piehole is very anoying. Almost as annoying as his stupid little nicknames that make no sense. For example, he refers to Keith Olbermann as "Keith Overbite", yet there's nothing wrong with Keith's teeth.
And it's completely laughable how he calls every Democrat a "radical socialist", and calls George W. Bush a "liberal". Pul-LEASE!!!!
(BTW, I like the "M. Rotten Levin" nickname for this pile of dung who thinks he's a human being. I tried to come up with an appropriate nickname for this creep, but the best I could come up with was "Stupid Jew-Boy" - he's stupid, he's Jewish, and he has the maturity level of a 10-year-old boy.)
He is just so miserable and self-loathing... I can't imagine having that guy as a family member. I pity his wife and kids.
If anyone needs a firm rebuttal to the utterly bogus assertion that conservatives are 'happy' people then look no further than to His Rottenness.
"the "emotional Tommy" gives him credibility on the issues that appeal to your irrational side"
Col, can you provide an example where I give Hugh Hewitt credibility on any issue? Or is that just an emotional outburst without backup, on your part?
You just said that he was right about the 'emotion-liberal' thing. So to you he has credibility on that issue.
Next time... review what you write.
Oh, that's right. Just joking, huh? The most overused excuse ever. Got it.
Nevermind the fact that the wingnut talkers love to proclaim that the libs are the 'emotional' ones in spite of the REALITY that the cons almost ALWAYS use FEAR when making their points.
Wow... some rationale you've got going there.
M. Rotten Levin doesn't 'show up' here very often either but he's probably the WORST of that loony bunch aside from Savage.
Respecffully Bruce, I don't agree. This little quote above notwithstanding, one of his more recent gems concerning Obama's rally in Oregon was "And did the Obama rally begin with the Soviet National Anthem?" That's just one of many of his brand of stuff.
You might become an MMFA tipster for that one.
Throway lines like that don't bother me, it's clearly a joke.
I didn't appreciate that at all, Roundhouse. Clearly I've misjudged you.
It's offensive to claim that kind of speech is any way funny.
You should stop making excuses for people like Hewitt and Savage and Coulter and call hate speech what it is.
Then again, I'm a funny guy and I can keep making jokes like that one about you being an ignoramous for a long time.
I don't care if you think Hewitt was only joking or if he was funny or not. Crap like he spews (and you make apologies for) are as personally offensive to me as my hateful post was offensive to you. Get it?
And like I said, you guys claim to be the inventors of responsibility, yet you own up to none of the failures conservatism has created. That would include the devolution of discourse that the raw lust for cultural dominance with which the right has been afflicted.
Conservatives are out of ideas, so you resort to this kind of liberals are terrorist, desperate maunderings. It's pathetic and cheap.
But you just keep calling hate speech, "just a joke," Bruce. Keep denying responsibility and we will ALL get the authoritarian future that YOU deserve for YOUR apologetics.
Christ, man. Get a clue.
Hewitt offended you with his bad joke and I obviously offended you by not being outraged by his bad joke so you offended me to show me how offensive Hewitts comments were. I guess everyone is offended now except Hewitt. And he started it.
But I really don't expect you to understand. You're not a liberal who has to put up with hundreds of Republican worms in the media, 24/7 pushing those 'Democrats are terrorists' type narratives. No I don't expect you to get it because not getting it is what allows you cons to claim to be happier people.. Instead of fighting injustices, you just shrug it off as part of the natural order of things.
I read these threads everyday and there's plenty of hate thrown conservatives way. Plenty.
I can't control what Hewitt says, only what I say. And you know I don't talk that way to anybody.
In response to tommy's, "And did the Obama rally begin with the Soviet National Anthem?"you said, "Throway lines like that don't bother me, it's clearly a joke."
Own what you say, punk.
Hate speech doesn't bother you. Your conscience doesn't bother you either.
You just keep evading it, Bruce. Hewitt's hate speech is destructive and so are your apologetics.
You guys have earned your lumps here. think about Philib for a tiny second. Own it. Own his hate, too.
I have never seen you take him to task for his bullcrap. Own it. Show me some of that personal responsibility that you ignorant Republican blowhards tout as your bread and butter.
To me, you're nothing more than a floundering hypocrite on this.
You again, I see. How about addressing the point?
As far as sticking out the TONGUE... Archie Bunker was a master at that routine. Guess what... he's on YOUR side too!
To the ilk of Hugh Hewitt and kin, he would probably prefer that the GOP's brand of rallies be prefaced with, if not the Horst Wessel or "Die Stem van Suid-Afrika," them maybe the old "Land of Hope and Glory," preferably in a rather obnoxious-sounding staccato as grating on the ears as the castrati were in their time.
Nah - we don't fear any of those folks you list above. Most of them have proven capable of logical thought and can discuss issues and come to agreement. Of course the Liberals are a different story - they have proven only to ba able to respond through emotion. So when they do respond to conservatives with either long winded acedemic diatribes laced with what they believed is pointed humor, or little snippets of sarcasim we just humor them and say, "thats a great point", and move on.
You're projecting. Knock it off.
Does that make him a projector?
" I can say that if those crazy islamics come into the OSU area to try any funny business, they won't make it out alive"
I think that's part of the point...
For some reason he shows up as "Science" even though people are referring to him as "Columbus" throughout those threads.
HE'S BLINDING US WITH SCIENCE!!!!! :-)
OSU sucks anyway.
Amen!
Go Trojans!
No need. you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know you were columbus until late yesterday. Why the name change? Couldn't win an argument?
hint: it wasn't your name that kept you from forming a coherent thought...
He admitted he was a banned poster returning with a new screen name on another posting from Media Matters. He complained about being flagged all the time, and blamed those who flagged him instead of accepting responsibility for the posts he made that were flagged and got him banned.

Funny how people like Science/Columbus who always preach about "personal responsibility" are the ones who constantly blame others for their troubles......
There you go again with your false allegations instead of addressing the point I raised.
Have you not gotten the message yet that it's the message that's important, not the messenger?
I'm not a sockpuppet. This poster admitted he was a sockpuppet when he complained that he had to change screennames when everyone kept flagging his posts.
I once used the men's room after Rolling Thunder in the mid seventys.
One of my many awesome powers on the job was the ability to comand anyone to take off their clothes.
This is going to blow our collective cover as just a bunch of average shmoes and shmoettes you know.
As a Columbus, OH resident, I can say that if those crazy islamics come into the OSU area to try any funny business, they won't make it out alive...
I think it's a safe bet that if any "crazy islamics come into the OSU area to try any funny business", they'll find Science101/Columbus1492 hiding in a closet, wetting himself.
Ah, that explains a lot. Columbus has a great zoo and a terrific science museum (so there are some reasons to go there), but the behavior of the OSU fans at their home games goes well beyond the realm of sport. It's simply inexcusable what they've become famed for doing.
And you condone it. Figures.
Did OSU fans ever get mistreated in any way in Ann Arbor in the years when UM utterly dominated them? Of course not. We acted like, how shall we say, adults. You should give a long thought as to why you can't do the same.
Whoa! Is this true?
Is it true that the inevitable Armageddon that will accompany an Obama Presidency, will mean that the way inflated over-rated overblown posturing game between USC and Ohio State, will be the final college football game of 2008 (if not of all time)... is this true?
You mean I'm not going to get to see Florida versus Georgia at Jacksonville, on November 1 2008?
You mean, if Sen. Obama is our next President, then the Florida-Georgia game is blown off the map, and off the schedule, along with the whole country, by the resulting Armageddon?
If this is true, then I just became a McCain supporter!
I was looking forward to Florida and Georgia at Jacksonville... I figured that was gonna be Armageddon... who cares about Sen. Obama, if it means his Presidency shall blow off the map and blow off the schedule, the Gator's Dawg's World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party!
Who cares about USC or Ohio State either: either the Gators or the Dawgs, would blow those two teams away, anyway...
(Oh How I Hate, Ohio State)
Any decent SEC team would blow OSU away...
They were pulled from the SEC I believe it was 3 years ago along with BC and Virginia...So that the ACC could round out to an even 12 for a better football season.
Sure does screw up the basketball schedules though...the Tobacco Road 4 don't always get to play each other twice anymore.

Miami, BC, and Virginia were never part of the SEC. Come on! What kind of college athletics fan are you.
Is that what your name refers to, hockey? Cool, I thought it was political... I guess it could be both... and I wonder if the other ACC schools are considering adding hockey to their men's sports programs? If so, they'd immediately have the NCAA Champs.
Ice Hockey in Miami, and Talahassee? Why not!
Even worse, Dem--Barry Melrose in Tampa Bay... :o)
Those were my two positions back when I had a rink locally to play in. My nasty habit of sagging too deep in the defensive zone (way too much watching Ron Wilson's 3-D system when he was in Washington) ened up by my taking the faceoffs at center, then immediately breaking toward the right defense as a left wing. Hence, LeftWingCenter...
And the wife was thrilled at the Notre Dame-BC NCAA final, until BC ran away from them in the third period. Such is life...
...and it might only get worse for her, when the Irish visit Chestnut Hill, in football, September something or other I think.
I'm not sure, but I think the Irish hockey players could beat up the football team at this stage... anyway, we'll have to see.
I only follow the ACC, I didn't know where they were pulled from, geez...
It's what I get for assuming Science knew something about what he was talking about...
Hey Hugh, 3,000 Americans were killed by Islamists under George W Bush's presidency on 9/11.
Or have you forgotten that already?
And when President Clinton was going after ObL, the Republicans in Congress were chanting "Wag the Dog", because they felt fishing around in President Clinton's zipper was more important.
He's never been convicted of lying under other ... so that's just your opinion.
while hipocritical republicans like Newt thought it was ok to do the same.
Meanwhile, Mark Foley thought is was OK to boink Congressional Pages, and Larry Craig was practicing his "wide stance".....
And the dummy cons in Congress didn't find it all that important that a nutcase was out there plotting against us.
Yeah, I get it. Bill getting his weenie pleasured was much more important to you than a notorious terrorist. Got it. Good to know where your priorities stand.
You see, they have to deflect to Clinton's bj, because deep down, Republicans know that their party is full of collossal failures who can't protect a city against a hurricane, let alone a country against a terrorist attack.
It showed most plainly in that Florida classroom. When confronted with an episode that called for quick, decisive action, our president read a book and then flew away and hid in a bunker somewhere in Nebraska. What a coward.
Why do you think Bush and his fellow criminals decided before 9/11 to wiretap everybody? Because doing it the legal, time-honored way of getting a warrant took too much effort and intellect and they knew they were in WAY over their heads. It was better to just spy on everyone, constitution be damned. That's also why there's Gitmo. They had to put on a good show and look like they were catching some of the terrorists (by paying bribes to Afghan warlords), when in fact, they've caught just a handful (not counting the #2 and #3 al queda operatives who have been repeatedly "killed" in Iraq.)
In a nutshell, Republicans are inept at security. What they are good at is making money for their corporate cronies. And getting people killed.
Evidently, Clinton himself thought his zipper escapades were important enough to lie under oath about.
Every time you repeat that stupid statement you should hit yourself with a hammer.
4,100 Americans dead in a war against a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11, countless severely injured, OBL alive and living well, record home foreclosures, record high gas and food prices and YOU'RE STILL talking about a damn bj ? Skip the hammer, do the world a favor and use a sledgehammer!
You get one choice:
A) A president talking about the largest terrorist attack this country ever experience under oath and alone (which still hasn't happened) OR
B) A president talking about his private life under oath.
In your mind, which is more important? And to add to the football theme, GO BLUE
And they were given entry to the country by Bill Clinton.
Really? He stood at the border office and personally hand stamped their visas? Wow, the things you learn from idiots on the internet never cease to amuse me.
And only now is he focusing on who was actually responsible for that, with 4000 Americans dead and many, many more Iraqis, all so we could depose some castrated dictator and steal his oil.
And for all of you who still believe in this war, just remember, Bush and Rummy and Cheney were looking for a way to attack Iraq on January 30th, 2001. The plan was already in place, they just needed a catalyst.
steal his oil
Doesn't sound like so bad of a plan either.
Seeing as President Obama will not get inaugurated until January 20, 2009 (after the last of the bowl games are played), Hugh Hewitt proved once again that he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.
Plus the fact that we're not gonna get blown up by terrorists under President Obama. However, I would not put it past the neo-cons to stage a pre-election attack (like the one they helped orchestrate on 9/11) in order to help Gramps McCain.....
wever, I would not put it past the neo-cons to stage a pre-election attack (like the one they helped orchestrate on 9/11)
So you're one of those conspiracy nuts. The rest of your writing started to make sense, until this line.
You obviously have drank way too much of the bong water.
You obviously have drank way too much of the bong water.
I never touvhed the bong water, YOU, OTOH, appear to have OD'd on Right-Wing Kool-Aid.
Accusing the government of a conspiracy to kill thousands of americans on our own soil in a terrorist plot is...well, sick.
It's only sick if it turns out to be true, Columbus.
Nah just another scam.
They're only going to blow up the parts that are important to Hugh. A dastardly plot which put Hugh into a high hissy fit. After calmning down, one of his mental demonds reminded him that his pain was everyone's pain. The resulting endorphin rush put him right to sleep and out of everybody's hair for a few hours.
;-)
If nobody cares to fleece you to see the Buckeye game, maybe you should wait a while, say eight months - - and instead buy tickets to view the "Islamist" attacks on the US "under Obama". Apparently, judging from wishful thinking commentary along the same lines, tickets for the grand event(s) are now availble from the McCain campaign.
i have no idea who this guy is, or his claim to fame, but reading a calendar is obviously not part of his skill set. a football game in mid-sept. 2008 will take place roughly 1.5 months before the GE, unless mr. hewitt has a crystal ball, and already knows who the winner is.
it will take place approx. 4 months before the inauguration, which itself will occur after the final, national championship game is played, the first week of jan. 2009.
maybe he means sept. 2009. of course, if that's the case, his comment still makes no sense, since a pres. obama would have been in office 9 months by then, plenty of time for his islamofascistfundamentalist brothers to have wreaked suitcase nuclear destruction on the entire country. i think it's a safe bet, were that to happen, the college football season would probaby have to be delayed somewhat.
Mucho apologies to Hugh, but I'm hijacking an iddy biddy thread for a moment (the Levin comments are closed and I just gotta know):
Did anyone besides me hear Mark Levin promise to hang up his microphone if McCain was nominated for 2008 presidential candidate by the GOOP? That was last winter I think, mightabeen early spring. Mr. Levin? We await, with great anticipation, either your departure, or your apology to Alec Baldwin. How long, Oh gr81, will you keep us awaiting?
Hokay, back to Hugh Football, aka Hugh Who? Huh? U? It? Hugh, we all know you are here, on the board. You finally hit the big time on MMfA with this inane statement about football and Obama and there is no way you aren't lurking in the corners. Ironic, no? that the focus of the posting here is on your inability to read a sports calendar? Care to comment?
Never heard that one - I can't listen to that freak every day as he is insane and insanity and I do not mingle very well together - but I guarantee you he will never hang it up. They would have to pry it 'from his cold dead hands'.
His radio show is all he has, aside from a couple of horribly-written books... especially that one about his dead doggie. The book that he shamelessly plugged for weeks this past winter. Disgusting. If I was his doggie and I was in doggie heaven I would look down on him and call him a schmuck for using my death to be so greedy and self-serving.
I heard this guy Hewitt for the first time doing a c-span afterwords interview. I just knew this was the worst interview i had ever heard. Then, today Hughie shows up on cspan and spews the typical republican talking ponts. He really put it all out there---How Obama is looking forward to 10 dollar gasoline, How we need to drill everywhere for oil, build endless nuke plants.
I can't even watch or listen(radio) to c-span anymore without having to hear the troglodyte right wingers, Sheesh!
hah! OSU's new coach is Michelle Obama's brother!
I love it!
