O'Reilly responds to Media Matters and Women's Media Center: "This is McCarthyism"

      Well, he is wrong. You guys have jump Chris Matthew's butt for stuff he's said. and he's left of center... So, he's wrong, as usual.

      Seems like he admitted he was a McCarthyite, per his own description: "someone who demonizes people to make it impossible for them to be taken seriously". By "making fun" of Helen Thomas and pointing out a "dumb"comment she made O'Reilly is as guilty of McCarthyism as anyone else could be. I also loved his comment about "say so much garbage and see what sticks so you can marginalize people" just kind of says it all about what he does.Of course the real problem is that he is in the position he is in because he has an audience, people who actually agree with what he is saying. Until that changes he won't change and the only way to change that is by pointing out what is wrong about what he says.I say 2 points to Media Matters for doing what is right.

        he has listeners for the same reason Hitler had listeners and Jim Jones had listeners. Sheep are vulnerable. Just look at the religious righties.

      I geuss we should give Bill credit for not using Hitler. Plus he brings up another time when the right abused their power. But it's kind of a dumb tactic coming from the guy who talks about sending war protesters to Gitmo.

        If it was a joke, it wasn't funny. I guess you don't see the point, and are another aplogist who defends most of what these right wing media types say as "being jokes". Ridiculous. He didn't say it in a mocking manner, he was using his commentary to deride a woman, who many consider, to be the best Presidential journalist of all time. And why? Because she dared to ask a hard question of King George.

        O'Reilly's show, last time I checked, was not a comedy program. It is supposed to be a serious news program. He fails at that a lot I know.
