Where was Laura's outrage about future generations while Bush flushed trillions down an Iraq hole and gave trillions of tax cuts to the uber rich? These same Republicans looted the treasury to benefit their Corporate friends and doubled the debt, while investing little into things that help Americans lives.

Listening to these Republicans rail about the budget or "fiscal conservatism" is similar to the town drunk giving you a lecture about alcoholism.

In Republicans mindsets, spending money in America to help struggling citizens is bad or "pork" but wasting money in foreign adventures or giving huge tax cuts to the richest 1% is essential. Disgusting.

Their greedy pig like behavior is out for America to see.

Most people understand the Republican Party is just how you said they are in your post.  They have become so powerless that all they can do is lie about their opposition and ignore their own roles in their own demise.  They rather say Obama is really a Marxist and if the media told the American people he were he certainly would not have won by over 7MM votes and control the house by 60 votes and the Senate by 16 votes.  You see, these DEM advantages weren't a result of incompetent Republicans, no, it was the Dem-Media alliance.  They are jokes and they still have not caught on to that fact, despite 70% of Americans realizing.  Republicans always have been out of touch.

The problem is the media keeps feeding the information as if the popularity of Repubs was at least 50% if now higher. The reasons of course is that communications companies are run by corporate conservatives, thus they don't want their power weakened by reality (which has a liberal bias, thanks Colbert), so the impression that conservatives and Repubs still have meaning will continue.

Another reason, less rational, is that news organizations are afraid of being "too liberal" or want to be accused of that (see reality). Thus the editors (knowing full well what the corporation wants) will "balance" the coverage or in essence give ink and airtime to outrageous misinformation (or lies in reality).

Doocy and Ingraham could not be MORE right here ... I mean, COME ON! What global economic crisis?? PLEASE! Don't you remember? America is just a country of whiners! I mean, look, unfettered free market economics works and NEVER causes a recession. All you have to do is what Bush & McCain did and keep repeating over & over & over: the fundamentals of our economy are strong. See? Now everything is FINE. Long live Reagan!

I don't get Doocy's logic there. If the spending helps, but not by as much as desired, isn't that saying the spending wasn't enough? And that Republicans shouldn't have demanded the cuts? I don't get it.

Übermensch is a great nom de plume. I assume you are referring to an ancient SNL skit "What if Superman's rocket had landed in Germany?"

Not so much the SNL skit as much as just a strong name.

            Thanks for asking though.

Conservative/Republicans always set up these no-win scenarios.  It goes like this- The economy is cyclical so any improvement in it happens despite liberal policies.  Unless tax cuts are involved, those have the amazing magic power to defy the cyclical nature of the economy and always work.

When things start to pick up don't be surprised to hear how the tax cuts in the stimulus plan were totally the idea of the Republicans who forced them into the plan and they are the only reason the plan worked at all.  Remember, in their world having video or audio documentation of them saying something last week should have no bearing on what they say this week.
