This is another in a string of examples of those on the right misleading their listeners. The right is pretending that this is not as bad as Obama is making it out to be, and that way, when things are not better in 6 months, they can blame Obama's solutions! I am convinced of this from the evidence. They have been arguing that not enough money is being spent this year, and that too much will be investing in 2010 or beyond, implying that the only need for stimulus is in the near term.
Realists know that it's a terrible economy. Even in the Great Depression, the majority of people did okay. The problem was that so many were hurting. This recession is going to be the same. The majority of people will be scared, but will do okay, and for those deluded Republicans that fit into that mold, they will be convinced by Hannity's arguments that Obama's solution is the reason that the economy is doing poorly in 2010 and beyond. Reality tells us smart liberals that if the economy is still struggling into 2010 and beyond, it's terrific that Obama did what he did to make it less worse than it would have been with a Republican-crafted solution!
"Your President, the Messiah, the Chosen One..."
in the 1990s he and Limbaugh went with "der Shlickmeister, Slick Willie,"etc. etc.
And these are the same guys who blew a gasket because they thought that members of the media were purposefully drawing out the "W" when mentioning George W Bush, and interrupting people who called him "Bush" with "That's President Bush."
Very consistent.
Who is going to be the first left-leaning guest to overtly "talk Hannity down"? Who's going to say it? On the day that Hannity unveiled that over-the-top stimulus package montage, he had Newt Gingrich actually doing it. But who's going to expressly say that they have to "talk you down" before doing it?
That's a remarkable device by Maddow, and if it became a standard phrase among Hannity's left-leaning guests, that would be nice, in my humble opinion...
Of course, Hannity would probably edit it out, but still...
*LOL* You must remember, Hannity, the unqualified salesman for right wing lunacy, still has an enormous salary. While his economic conditiion has nothing to do with a "meritocracy"--he's not qualified to fix my car!--he makes millions off of Faux "News." So to him all Obama does is complain.
(If I had a multi-million dollar salary despite my near illiteracy, I'd say what I'm supposed to as well!)
