Jennifer Granholm was a model before she went to law school. She's very attractive. I'd also name Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin, Maria Cantwell, Mary Bono, and Marsha Blackburn as other women in politics who are easy on the eyes.
We knew as far back as the 70s that being sexually attractive AND being considered smart and competent was pretty much a contradiction in terms. I very recently saw a study on Sarah Palin saying that yeah, people think that sexually, she's very attractive, but no they don't consider her competent. This view applies to both genders, BTW.
It is a very difficult problem and there's no obvious answer to fixing it.
Real nice ... Imagine if someone from ABC or NBC said something bad about Sarah Palin's appearance. The GOP & AM radio would tear them apart. Instead, the middle & the left just allow the right wing blowhards on FNC & Limbaugh to get away with incendiary unacceptable comments like this.
