Do I sense humor in your words there Zamfir? Or am I wrong?

While there is no doubt Congress can be a joke... under Republicans especially...

Isn't it interesting that Congress's approval numbers are at 39% under the Democrats as opposed to the 12% when the Republicans were in charge...

Perhaps that's because the Congress and President Obama are actually trying to make a difference... and We the People are noticing... in spite of the rightwing and the corporate owned media?

No I am being serious. I was referring to anybody that puts politics or partisanship before the troops. I know the war was wrong and we never should have been there, but the troops deserve the best treatment.

You are right, they deserve the best treatment and isn't it a disgrace when John Murtha calls them murderers and then does not even apologize when they are exonerated. Shame shame on Murtha, they deserve better than that.

That is a perfect example of somebody putting politics before the troops. Both sides have been guilty of it.

No. He actually wanted to bring the troops home, which is about a zillion times better than any of the other side. So please spare me the stupidity about his not supporting the troops.

            Again, good for Murtha.

You're right. I don't understand how someone who wants to leavr troops in a meat grinder to die is "supporting" them, but someone who wants them home safe and sound is "putting politics first."

That wasn't anyone mentioned by Hannity. The claims he made were completely out of context, except that made against Murtha. However, here is what happened with Murtha:

On December 21, 2006, the US military charged Wuterich with 12 counts of unpremeditated murder against individuals and one count of the murder of six people "while engaged in an act inherently dangerous to others".[32] Charges against Wuterich and other involved Marines were later dropped.

So I say good for Murtha. And that type of stupid rheoric by Maone is  just plain ugly and stupid.

You are right, they deserve the best treatment and isn't it a disgrace when Drugbaugh calls them phoney soldiers and then does not even apologize when they are exonerated. Shame shame on Drugbaugh, they deserve better than that.  And isn't it a disgrace when O'Racist calls US soliders from WWII murderers and compares them to Nazis and then does not even apologize when they are exonerated. Shame shame on O'Racist, they deserve better than that.

For most republicans, supporting the troops means that as long as said troops agree with your positions, then they're worth supporting.

If they step out of line, then they're phony soldiers, and other things that republicans either make fun of, or disparage their service to our nation during times of war. One example, when at the RNC in 2004 when they were passing out Purple Heart band aids to mock John Kerry's military service, and they thought it was funny. Or, when they belittled Max Cleland, and compared him to Saddam with his military service. And these are just of the better known examples.

And isn't it a disgrace when the RNC/GOP degrades injured troops and the Purple Heart and compares it to a band-aide?  Shame shame on the RNC/GOP; injured troops deserve better than that.

      "Congress and the Senators"

Does he not realize that the Senate is a part of Congress? Nice parallel structure, there...

Of course, our troops have served admirably in a war that was the biggest foreign policy mistake in at least 40 years. There have been US troops that have murdered innocent people but not all troops are bad. Hell, Liberals are the ones fighting for their funding and benefits once the war machine spits them out.

I always hated the Utah Jazz.

Malone seems to be arguing that once we take military action against another nation, Americans and their representatives are obliged to shut up and go along with the program. Even if we gain new information that shows this action to be a horrible and costly mistake, we have no options but to keep it to ourselves. We must support the troops, even if that means needlessly leaving them in harms way. We must support them by continuing to allow them to be killed and maimed.

That is, and always has been, an asinine argument.

Note that Malone has never served in the military himself. He's just another arrogant, strutting, and loud-mouthed chickenhawk, who shows great courage with other people's children.

Malone must think he lives in another country, because in a Democracy your right to oppose a war on moral grounds does not stop once the war has been declared.  And "Shut Up and Obey" doesn't appear anywhere in the Constitution.

As for Malone's lack of a war record, well, I'm sure he had some sort of physical disability which did not permit him to exert himself in any serious way.  Maybe he has a limp, or spent most of his adulthood between the ages 20 and 35 severely overweight.  Maybe he has bad eyesight or lacks basic motor skills.  I challenge anyone to provide evidence that Karl Malone was even healthy enough to be accepted into the military when he was 20-35.

Or, maybe he just had Other Priorities.

And its rediculous that people dont understand that's the EXACT defenition of Facism.  We must accept the actions of our government, and not say a word.  Especially in times of war, because we dont want to be framed as unpatriotic by seemingly not supporting the troops.

I fell for it initially, and regret it to this day that I supported Bush in his first run, and was a major cheerleader for the war and keeping quiet.  Now I know better, you dont send our troops out without a clear mission, and strategy to get out.  Thats is why I respected the first Gulf War, GHWB did what he had to do, and the troops came home no problem.  End of story.  The Iraq war, no end in sight, and now we have a $700million embassy to man there.  Insuring we'll be there forever...

If Malone is as "brave" with the Congress as he was on the basketball court, he'll just flop if anyone touches him.  I wouldn't worry too much.
