Well, now we know why Fox has such high ratings. You don't see this crap on CNN or MSNBC, not to mention the traditional broadcast outlets. It really isn't about the political crap, it's the ditzy scantily-clad girls in stories such as this and the ditzy anchor women that promote them. And we know which demographic that appeals to - basement-dwelling young (and old) men who fantasize about women instead of actually going out there and getting one.

It's only going to get worse, Rabbitluvr.  The more outrageous and partisan they can get they higher their ratings go, apparently. I know ratings do not measure quality, but especially in tough economic times it is what is driving this stupid programming on Fox. They want to position themselves as holding Obama accountable and not being his cheerleader, so they embarrass themselves with crap like this.  If and when people tune away, they may tamper down their rhetoric and become serious, until then they are most likely content to be like this.  Just kidding.

I believe that when Fox News Channel runs little stories like the one above, they are essentially "pinning" their audience to whatever show it is that this "pinning" occurs on: it's just a way to keep people from changing the channel, and making them "stick" (however temporarily) to the show in question.

The thing called a "television remote control" wreaks havoc with television viewership ratings, and so we have in response the technique of "pinning" viewers and making them "stick" to the channel: inane shouting and bickering is also another technique widely used.

As far as ratings go, they are surprisingly unimportant and of little concern to the programmers of Fox News Channel: the mission and objective is to influence and manipulate the political opinions of their viewership, and not necessarily to increase ratings...

And "pinning" is employed to keep those viewers "stuck" to the channel, between stories that otherwise have no other purpose (as I said) than to influence and manipulate the political opinions of whoever it is that's watching them.

Interesting take.  And I agree with you about the ratings.  Fox News is but one man's effort to usurp our democracy and shift ideology.

Seeing this item has made me realize (I think) the etymology or derivation, not of the word "titillate", but of another much littler word, derived (I now think) from "titillate"...

      The learning process never sleeps.

Ms. Brown was not going to compromise.  She is independent. A very scary idea for men to consider.  She was not going to give-in and attach herself to a man for support.  Ex: A fire dept. does a male calender.  When women fire fighters do it, an outrage ensues.  The homo-erotic male is acceptable, yet the female is denied the same opportunity.

Note the interviewer, she just lead the exchange, rare for Fox News, and did not ridicule.  She understands.  Had it been a man, I know the way it would have gone.

At least, Ms. Brown is not in politics.   Better a stripper than a liar!
