That Barney, he's a super senator! Singlehandedly thwarting the majority party at every turn! Except for the Iraq war. Oh, and Terry Schaivo. Oh, and the Clinton impeachment. And there's deregulation. And...

Early reports from a couple of sources say that the shooter may be of Asian descent.

Nope, another immigrant. Just like the one at Virginia Tech and just like the ones in the gang related shooting that occur on a daily basis. See how those stereotypes get us no where?

I have yet to see one report indicating he was another immigrant. Can you prove that?

His name is either Jively Voong, or that may be an alias, but it's clearly a foreign name. On the Rachel Maddow Show, she just had a report on that said that his English was very bad, and he had recently told family that people were making fun of him because of that. He'd recently lost his job with IBM in Endicott, a nearby community. IBM laid off about 5000 employees a couple of weeks ago.

It looks like he's been in the country for close to 3 decades. He's reportedly 42.

From a section in the CRA: " (b) It is the purpose of this title to require each appropriate Federal financial supervisory agency to use its authority when examining financial institutions, to encourage such institutions to help meet the credit needs of the local communities in which they are chartered consistent with the safe and sound operation of such institutions."

This act basically told the banks to behave with their loans.

Why should Congressman Frank(D) shoulder any responsibility for the subprime mortgage fiasco. His responsibilities as chairman of the banking services commitee, which provided oversight for the lending institutions of Fannie and Freddie(lending institutions designed to subsidize mortgage loans to people with less than average credit credentials, funded by mom and pop investors with their life savings and told the system was stable in aug of 08) should not be held against him by those trying to determine who may have not been performing their jobs at an adequate level. They should look elsewhere, say, someone who had nothing to do with the situation, as long as there is an R after there name.
