Glenn, YOU HELPED IT HAPPEN. And you want to see more acts like this across America, as you can't respect democracy and the democratic system. You are guilty, Glenn Beck. Period.

Day after Day after Day of "Pitchfork brigades," "Socialist-Marxist Takeover," "Taking Away our Freedoms," ""Taking Away our Guns," etc. etc. and then when someone acts on the "This is Terrifying, Our Nation is being Destroyed from Within!" we get this cowering "Hey don't look at me!" crap.

As ye sow...except, no one EVER holds these guys responsible for ANYTHING.  So tomorrow it will be right back to fanning the flames of hate and violence.  The next deranged lunatic is listening, and nodding, and loading his gun.

Beck, Malkin, et. al. claim that the government is coming to get your guns and that there's a secret plan to put you in internment camps.  When a guy shoots a bunch of cops and says he did it because he didn't want to lose his guns and he didn't want the government to put him in an internment camp, the same fear mongers say "who's to blame?  No one can say.  Not me, though, that's for sure."

The thing that just galls me about these idiots is that for the last eight years we had an administration that actively tried to centralize its authority and eliminate oversight and checks and balances.  This included warrantless searches, detention without charges, and the politicization of the justice department.  These guys were cheerleaders for THAT administration.  Now that Bush is gone, they project his ACTUAL actions, which they supported, onto Obama, who IS NOT doing those things, and they tell us that these imaginary actions are the ened of freedom.  The hypocrisy is laughable.

Yeah, beck and others had nothing at all to do with this showing up at a gun show in Kentucky:

      obamaguns4.jpg

Right wingers really have a hard time taking responsibility for anything. Nothing but a bunch of old testament throwbacks.

We don't study the American Revolution?

I suppose Glenn Beck is accusing public schools of being liberal and unpatriotic, and therefore accuse them of not "studying" the American Revolution. I currently study at the University of Mary Washington, in one of the most liberal counties in Virginia, where the school is also pretty liberal (in that most students here are liberal, not the professors). I've studied the American revolution and studied American govn't in at least 5 separate classes.

Oh, and please, Beck, I still can't understand you. Talk to me like I'm a 2 year old, rather than 6. And a little slower please. I don't understand big words like "nut-job" and "revolution".

      Some good quotes here:

"You don't have the right to stand up in a theater and say FIRE!!!...Unless you actually see a fire, or smoke, then you a have a responsibility to do that"

"You have a right to bear arms, but you have the responsibility not to use those arms to take away the rights of like "life" of others."

"Responsible gun owners are no more of a threat than somebody who is responsibly exercising their right to freedom of religion. Oh, wait a minute, the left isn't gonna understand that one."

"I mean sure religion can be used to justify horrific acts, but it's still the criminal or the terrorist that is responsible for them...oh...wait a minuite, the left WILL understand that because that's what they have been telling us about Islam this whole time. And you know what, they are right."

Based upon the +/- system I will rate these comments and justify:

His first comment I give a "D-" Most overused example of the 1st amendment. He could have went with "We may have a freedom of speech, but we must take responsibility for how we speak. If something I say promotes a clear and present danger to anyone, then my speech is not protected." (Yates v. United States, 354 U.S. 298)

Second comment: "D-" again. For the simple fact he is providing nothing new to the argument of 2nd amendment rights. A better argument would be that although the 2nd amendment protects a right to keep and bear arms. Dosn't mean that anyone has a right to access a gun for the sake of owning a gun. But if you DO own a gun you may use it in instances of a militia (see 1st amendment of why not all militias are bad), hunting, self-defense ect. (District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S.).

Third comment: "C-" Only because it has partial truth. I could also say that irresponsible exercising of freedom of religion is just as bad as gun owners who are being irresponsible. (Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church comes to mind).

The last comment was for bonus points and unfortunately he receives none. For here he is equating being of Islamic faith and being a criminal/terrorist. Really...can you REALLY use religion to justify horrific acts? (Spanish Inquisition?)

Over he receives a failing grade.

      Poor little guy

I love Glenn's statement that "these were Nazis & White Supremacists, not conservatives!!!" Umm, yea-a-ah? And WHAT, precisely, is the difference? That's like saying "that was a pot-smoking hippie, not a leftist."

Yup.  Exactly.  Blood is on the hands of these Fox wing-nuts and am hate radio scum.   They have been pushing the buttons of their angry base for years, now the angry conservative base is acting on this hate.  The right blame the Left for anything and everything that happens that they disagree with.  Time to sack up, righties, these murders are your fault.  Simple fact.

Well, of course nobody by the nut-job is to blame for the shooting. That's a given.

But it's equally a given that Beck and his friends on the anti-Obama front are stoking the emotions that made the nut-job motivated enough to commit his insane act. I hope that they recognize this, even if they will never acknowledge it publicly.

Sadly, it doesn't seem like they do.

If the man had shot the cops because he hated authority and said he wanted to support Obama, do you think Glenn Beck would have said "only this man is to blame"?

Most things are the result of mutual responsibility: gun nuts hopped up by right wing radio, or people killed because they are out drunk and lost in some place dangerous.

What's ironic about these guys is that they will blame female victims for being victims-- which is sometimes partially true-- but they innoculate themselves when it comes to how they inspire nutcases.

This is only the beginning.  With the way the right, led by Fox News, continues to push the fringe toward "revolution" we will see more and it will get more deadly.  And amazingly they will continue to have their defenders in the media as well as on these threads.

I agree, to a certain extent. Yes, the man pulling the trigger is responsible for his actions. He was in his right mind, not insane, and he was ultimately responsible, but...

The constant flames that are being fanned mostly by Beck, and others lately as to how Obama is taking over the country, supposedly taking away rights, coming to get your guns, taking away your rights, and blah, blah, blah. You're partly responsible, especially when you're peddling this crap day in and day out Glenn. You are the one with the large bully pulpit, meaning, you're on the radio for 3 hours per day, on TV for another hour per day, and all of the time you're screaming about how our rights are being taken away (they're not), and how we're turning into a fascist nation, and then networks such as FoxNews give exposure to really super duper whackos like Alex Jones to spew forth his conspiracy theories.

Words have consequences Mr. Beck, and they have meaning. You should know that, and you should think more wisely before spouting off about how we're turning into a fascist nation (we're not).

Anybody care to discuss what the other third believes? I am a registered Independent and have the same ax to grind with both Parties. I watch Beck, Olberman, Oriley and Bill Maher, the left winger that himself called Obama a plastic Jesus and I see both the Red and Blue in equal measure destroying this country from within through ever increasing government control of citizens and businesses via unbearable taxation and redundant laws, both levied to support private interest groups of their choosing. If some of you folks who are obviously intelligent would put down your team banners for a bit and take a long hard look around, you may realize that we no longer have a two party system as intended but rather a one Party system flying the flag of greed. The politicians have a greed for office and support a corporate hierarchy that has a greed for power over the government and exploits the weakest among the peoples around the world for their own selfish ends by turning them into servants so we can all get a cheap pair of shoes at Wal-Mart.Staunch Republicans and Democrats make me want to puke with their self righteous rhetoric from both camps. If you want to be part of some "new world order" or whatever the Red and Blue are calling it this week, that's fine, go on about your way and keep flying your bogus Party flag but realize one thing as you march along, you are all government puppets doing exactly as planned.Wake up, abolish Central banking, abolish lobbying, bring our troops home and stop trying to play "world police", abolish the U.N., abolish the IRS and stop believing all the lies. We are all slaves to the corporations, banksters and government and the sooner you realize it, the sooner it will change. Don't be sheeples, be Americans, fight for what's right or keep paying 50% of your income in taxes each year and go back to sleep.
