The Texas Senate has voted to take stimulus money.  Perry is indeed talking crazy.  Perhaps he was speaking about his own, individual secession.

And Sludge has the headline from Rasmussen stating that 75% of Texans would vote to stay in the Union. Once again, those worthless 25%ers and their bozo governor can just GTFO and not return.

I think Perry got a little carried away and it may be a bit unfair to lampoon him...

I think he was actually talking about the seccession of his brain from his mind.  Now, he's spoken on this topic a number of times in the past.  He has first-hand, personal experience.  He knows this topic!

I lived in Texas for over a decade and many of my friends who are lifelong Texans have been saying the same thing.

I've been embarrassed for years. Prior to Gov. good hair's statement I was watching the rightwing try to ram through a law allowing schools to teach creationism as a science and to let colleges create credited courses and degrees in creationism.

Matthews is right.  Perry was offensive in his secession talk.

I would love to see Perry try to bring this up for vote.  That would be hilarious.  Idiot.

I don't believe texas can succede anymore. I recall that there was a time clause and that has since passed. I remember the press making a big brewhaha when the clock struck 12.

          Texas vs. White:

          [...]

It further held that the Constitution did not permit states to secede from the United States, and that the ordinances of secession, and all the acts of the legislatures within seceding states intended to give effect to such ordinances, were "absolutely null".

Sorry for being O/T, but John Ziegler was arrested the other day.  Just wanted to give a tip to MMFA.  I'm sure the fake outrage will be brewing.

Matthews says he is Hannity's friend.

I cannot believe he thinks Hannity's commentary/political activism is even remotely fair and reasonable. I'd like to hear the tapes of their bar talk.

Let's see these two guys debate.

You won't see Hannity debate anyone.  He may pretend to for about 20 seconds, but any exposure to a superior opponent will only lead him to shut off the opponent's microphone or, failing that, yell/talk over the opponent.

Those with a weak position that will not withstand a debate seek to silence their opponent, not outreason them.

I think it's a great idea for the Republicans.  Defend and laugh about the same torture that we prosecuted a generation ago.  Introduce the idea of secession into your party.  Be sure to defend the far-right extremist militia groups that DHS is reporting on.  Bring them into your party.  Become one with the fringe.  Mainstream your maniac extremists.  Good luck in the next election.  I find your politics fascinating.

Matthews made two dumb comments on Hardball, however.  First, he couldn't decide what a poll she showed actually said- the words on the screen were "Should Texas Have the Right to Secede?" and 55% said no and 31% said yes, so Matthews told his audience that "31% of Texans WANT TO SECEDE."

Then he showed the states that pay the heaviest tax burden and get the lowest level of return for their tax dollar- they were all blue states.  Fine.  But Matthews asked his guest "Isn't that Ironic?"- as if it's SURPRISING that Democratic-leaning states contributed more.  Talk about swallowing GOP talking points whole.

Matthews also had a Texas GOP Congressman on who kept telling the audience that Texans "are the most Patriotic Americans" and "know in their HEARTS that their taxes are too high" (I thought only bleeding heart liberals used their hearts instead of their brains.)  He repeated that Texans are the most patriotic Americans no less than three times in five minutes, then accused Obama of "wanting to make America another France."

They grow them real big in Texas- real big, and really, really stupid.

I didn't read a single post that questioned the propriety of a TV commentator/newsman calling a Governor a "Bozo."

Some people in America remember when there actually was a modicum of respect and civility in journalism.

Being disrespectful of a duly elected official is juvenile (that means immature) and is unworthy of anyone using the public airwaves.Obviously, sarcasm and satire are appropriate expressions for political discourse, but this is just what it appears to be - schoolyard name-calling.

When the Governor says something ludicrous, it's not disrepectful to call it a Bozo remark.

        That's good EdRoss...

Your little hissy fit really carries a lot of weight.  After all, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Savage, Ingraham, Coulter, O'Reilly, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on.......

They would never be caught name calling, lies, distortions, smears, etc.

You're known as being fair and balanced, now I'm starting to wonder.
