Good for Beck!  He's popular with a guy that literally lost all his  credibility is a bet: http://blog.mises.org/archives/008635.asp

See, thing is, this isn't that far from the truth. Nixon and Obama are actually a lot alike, policy wise. If Nixon were running for President today as a republican, he would be chastised all over the place by these guys, probably worse than Obama. I mean, he went to RED CHINA for crying out loud. Stopped the war in Vietnam. And so on and so forth. Take away his criminal offenses, and they're a lot closer than say, Bush and Obama, or McCain and Obama.

If Nixon were running today, he'd be a liberal, that's how far right the republican party has gone, and how far to the center we democrats have come.

I wouldn't heap too much praise on Tricky D. Although a moderate, he was hawkish (bomb Cambodia to save it), paranoid and hated the eastern elite media.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not heaping praise on Tricky Dick, nope, no way. He was a horrible man in many ways, I guess the point was that in some (not all) of his policy positions, today's republicans would be calling him a commie.

I sort of agree with you.  I heard someone a couple years ago call Nixon the Last Liberal President.  I don't know about.  I think Carter counts as a Liberal.  Clinton doesn't.  I guess he was as much a liberal as Obama is a socialist.  What I find really interesting is that the right keeps trying to smear Obama by associating him with their guys (Nixon, McCarty, Hilter - OK just kidding about that last one.)  What I draw from this is that they can't think of one Dem or liberal in the last 50 years that's worse than them.  So why should we vote for you guys?
