From the April 28 broadcast of MSNBC's Morning Joe:

PAT BUCHANAN: Well, let me ask you this: If we sit there and we use these long-term interrogation methods, and planes go into buildings, and it could have been stopped, would it not be fair to hold Obama responsible and the people who denied this methodology, which might have saved the lives?

MARGARET CARLSON: Yes.

BUCHANAN: I mean, if you're going to blame Bush --

CARLSON: Yes.

BUCHANAN: -- we got seven and a half years --

CARLSON: Yes -- no --

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Except -- OK, but let's just be fair here. The second waterboarding came in -- the second Dana Priest wrote her article and we had this debate on waterboarding, we were moving towards not using waterboarding again. We don't -- these techniques are worthless now anyway.

So, if planes go into buildings, well, don't blame Barack Obama, blame Dana Priest and the chaos that occurred after that, 'cause that was -- when her article came out, from that point forward, this secret CIA program was dead on arrival.

If planes go into buildings, and the President had been warned about a possible attack, and had taken no action to stop it, I doubt I will blame Dana Priest.

But I may blame Joe Scarborough.

"Planes flew into buildings" Joe, because we had a lazy President. An unprepared president. An incompetent President.

If Bush had listened to his advisors (eventually replaced with political hacks and yes men) 911 would not have happened. You continue to politicize this issue despite the fact it was a Republican President, a Republican controlled Congress, and an incompetent bunch of know-nothings who thought it would be "fun" to run the country. You lose this arguement on facts, every time.

      Waterboarding can't fix stupid, Joe.

Sheer Insannity bleets that the 9/11 Commission Report made it clear - another attack is a matter of "when," not "if."

Then the right wing nutz scream "If we're attacked again, it will be [Mr.] Obama's fault!!!!!!!!!!!"

Where I come from this is called a "set-up."

If you are Scarborough it makes sense, after all, it's his crowd that still believes Obama is a Muslim who is intent on rounding up all detractors and placing them in FEMA camps.

Think about what he is saying.  Planes will be flown into buildings because there is evidence of what the entire world already suspected and somehow this makes us unsafe.  It's patently absurd.

PS - you must know by know that the swine flu is a government plot to do...something, I don't know what, but something.

He really is a scared little man, isn't he? Lot of that around here in America at the start of the 21st century. I hate to see so many willing to compromise their freedoms and principles in the name of that fear.

I was very surprised that Margaret Carlson didn't shut Joe down.  But she must want to keep getting gigs on Morning Joe.  I'd mistaken her for a journalist.

Joe is pathetic! I guess we have to blame Seymour Hersh because we lost in Vietnam.  Makes no sense, but what does make sense coming from Joe's mouth? NOTHING! Margaret is a little mouse, she usually doesn't rebuttal, especially with Buchanan. Which she should have!

What other illegal acts are we not doing right now that we can blame Obama with if another attack occurs?  I suppose he hasn't just nuked the entire Middle East, so we can blame him for that.  Nor has he unilaterally invaded Pakistan's northern border, once again a big mistake on his part that has allowed Al-Qaeda to flourish.

How ridiculous is the proposition that a president would deserve blame for not committing an illegal act?

Now that Dana Priest has betrayed her country, Jumpin' Joe mourns:

      "These techniques are worthless now."

Really? So the mere disclosure that the US waterboarded three Qaedas (including one who was mentally damaged to begin with) allows them to prepare how?-- Shortcircuit the gag reflex? Imagine the buildup of CO2 in their blood isn't real? That they're back in the womb and the water filling their lungs is all the sweet oxygen they'll ever need?

      What a bozo.

So, Joe, since you are the real Patriot here, why don't you be a man and go out, without protection of law and save America by waterboarding on your own?

The Desk Cowboys of the Republican Party are all very macho when sitting behind a microphone (Seannie saying he'd get waterboarded for the troops, lying sack of crap) but won't venture out from thier protective cocoons to really fight the fight. Cowards, each and everyone of them. I guess when the bucks start to roll in, they feel privledged and honored by telling everyone else what is right or wrong.

Say it ain't so Joe. Say you'll lead the fight to commit criminal acts to get things done as you see it. And Pat can follow in a wheelchair behind you.

Now the talking point is that waterboarding, as an interrogation tool, is now "worthless" only because it has become public.  Somehow, before now, the terrrorists had no idea that they may be waterboarded if sent to an American camp.  The Bush administration, before now, managed to somehow trick more than one terrorist into thinking that they would never be waterboarded if detained, and tricked into never training themselves to resist waterboarding.  Only now it has dawned on the terrorists that they will have to invent ways to resist this type of torture that they had absolutely no idea could ever happen to a terrorist, before last week.

Scarborough has supplied a perfect example of why no one should ever have to look at his face on the little screen again. But of course he will show up there again today and tomorrow and on and on.

I don't expect Joe to change his mind, and that's fine, because I have no interest in whatever lying drivel he claims to believe on any day of the year. But I do blame MSNBC's management for keeping a drunken whore like that on the payroll. The owners, as well as the lawmakers who granted their effective monopoly status on the cablewaves, are the cause of our media problem -- not Mr. Joe Pathetic "These Techniques are Worthless Now" Scarborough.

To make sense, the situation would have to be that the terrorists were only kinda mad at the US of A--that is, until the waterboarding stuff came out. Oooh, now they're going to fly planes into buildings!

Hasn't the drumbeat for seven years been "They want to kill us!"? Aren't they utter religious fanatics bent on destroying the West because of our freedoms?

They've been spending all their time telling us how enormous a foe we're facing, and we should elect nothing but Republicans forever in order to defeat them--that they're far worse than the Nazisor the Commies because of their fanaticism--

--and the problem with releasing the torture memos is that it would get them mad?

Over and over the Repubs have tried to quash criticism of themselves because doing so would increase the confidence of people who were ready to strap TNT to their chest and blow themselves up to begin with?

Even if they're as deadly as they say, the one thing we really shouldn't have to be careful aboutt is making them mad...

The secret, not started, avoids scrutiny.   Our enemy waits, decades.

The are not instant message responders.  Media hype, is desperation, with fans.  Can you scare me into believing, your side?

(Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire)

"Blame, blame, blame,...the ring of liars, the ring of liars.

I, lent ear, to a confused, ring of liars.

The stakes, went up, and the party's in mire.

So its, blame, blame, blame,...the ring of liars, the ring of liars."

      =====

The CIA blew it.  The FBI has better interrogation techniques.  When Bush-baby, Cheney & Co., started the FBI left that table.   The FBI does not interrogate in that style.  Why blame Dana Priest, the wrong is at issue.

Joe knows the "truth" hurts and boy, oh boy, these Republicans are grasping for any excuse or gimmick to "distract" away from the Torture Mess.  Today though, Sen. Arlen Spector just handed them (Republicans) a "big" distraction from this Torture Mess.  Joe should be able to rant about Sen. Spector leaving the Republican Party to become a Democrat for the rest of the week now.  Hmm.
